The Humiliating Practice of Sex-Testing Female Athletes - NYT This is the problem with this kind of invasive testing. It's to limit competition, not encourage it. Nobody starts handwringing about "unfairness" to women and girls until somebody who doesn't conform to the Barbie phenotype st...

Re: Ozark

Maybe I just need time to digest. One thing I'll say, they certainly kept me guessing about what was going to happen. It wasn't predicable. I know quite a few people that hate the ending. After thinking about it for a while I came to the conclusion of "that's probably how this would have ended...

Re: Ozark

Ozark was my favorite series in recent memory. I didn't like the series ending at first. Now, I really like the ending. Getting trapped under a collapsing house of cards worked for me. The series as a whole was great. The ending wasn't wrapped up in a nice clean bow (like the Sopranos ending) and th...

It's really an amazing thing to see in person and you can see it at no cost. The statue is located high above the Missouri River within the boundaries of a rest area on I-90. The same rest area also has a Lewis and Clark information center inside with many pieces of gear from their journey. I have b...

Re: BREAKING: CDC reports human case of H5N1 bird flu in Colorado; patient had exposure to poultry

This has been an absolutely terrible year for avian influenza. Especially in the midwest. Millions and millions of turkeys and chickens have been "depopulated" in the last couple of months. It's really the only thing that can be done to address an outbreak. Apparently, it happens on a seve...

Re: NYT: Ford betting the farm on electric F-150

So, one thing I always loved about that show ... since Flintstones cars are basically being powered by their feet (and they don't wear shoes), why doesn't Fred and the rest just run from place to place? Having to push the entire car is just extra weight. Or, why does Fred need to operate the ...

You can run the heater in an electric car without running the engine like you have to in a IC auto. You can survive LONGER in an electric. Re: NYT: Ford betting the farm on electric F-150

Interesting article : Now, of course, the right is saying that no one wants electric vehicles, but it seems that the auto industry knows differently. If upstart Tesla is already selling a million cars vs. Ford's four million, that means the market is far larger than the right thinks. And Tesla is O...

I read Moon Knight comic books when I was a kid. Never was one of my favorites but I didn't dislike it either. Nothing made Moon Knight stand out. It was just kinda there. I am a little rusty on my Moon Knight lore. Do you think I need to do some backstory research or can I jump right in cold and st...

South Carolina convincingly defeats Uconn for the championship. An excellent game plan executed nearly to perfection. My alma mater won the WNIT championship yesterday. SDSU (not the one in San Diego) defeated Seton Hall by 32 in a runaway victory. Wish I could have been there but watching one of ou...

OK. So is the GOAL of the bill to make ammo unaffordable? No. They are collecting the tax to put into a gun violence research fund. Next question. Would it have that practical effect? .22 caliber ammo ... .02 per bullet ... box of 100 bullets ... $2 tax. Would that make the ammo unaffordable? I'm b...

Because a comptroller for a state should have decades of professional experience in finance and management behind them, not a buddy politician. It's quite a big job. Wouldn't you agree? It is a big job and he worked in the Comptroller's Office for over a decade before becoming Comptroller in 2021. ...

Yeah, you'd have to do that, because today's GOP is the most corrupt party in history. You have been pissing backwards the whole thread. It wasn't just "sexting" - lots of sexist and racist emails were unearthed, and there were ONLY calls to resign after it became politically problematic....

Hard to know, but the timing of the Ford plant is concerning. Could be that the comptroller could send contracts to buddies for kickbacks. As I said, the GOP in Tennessee has a major corruption problem, with quite a few indictments among leadership. And as I said, the Comptroller is "elected&q...

The NCAA tournament is the best sporting event in existence today. There's probably not even a close second.

My bracket appears to be broken and I don't care because there have been so many great games already.

Today was not a productive day at the office. Tomorrow won't be either.
