Re: EV demand has grown cold
Mostly I saw that in Michigan. That's when they still made the cars in that part of the country, and like the cliche about British cars, they didn't even stand up to their own climate. Everything older than about 4 years was completely eaten out below the doors. During our inprocessing briefing in ...

Re: Way to go Joe
Carter was a shitty president but he still had Ray Gun beat because he meant well. He just got out of his depth regarding revolutions in the Middle East and the resulting hostage crisis, which sunk his presidency. In Carter's defense, he's the only president who got two countries in the Middle East...

Re: EV demand has grown cold
Speaking of salt, we had ONE (1) snow this year, but it was a good one with ice and snow. But they salted the HELL out of our streets, and afterwards, my driveway started, well, molting. It's costing me $1500 to fix. Being in Southern California, we don't have the problem of snow and salted streets...

Re: Ben Shapiro on retirement and Social Security
Of course, the GOP ultimately wants to "retire" Social Security and Medicare. Meaning, they want to end both programs. Problem is, the programs are not only needed in a decent society, but they're VERY popular. So they have to pretend, while influential right-wing pundits like Ben Shapiro...

Re: Ben Shapiro on retirement and Social Security
"Contributing to society" what the hell dystopian Orwell are we entering? Retired people contributed to society before they retired which is one of the goals people have in life. Retirement is about no longer contributing to society? Can't old people just do stuff they want to even if it'...

Left to right. Light dimmer, clutch, brake, gas pedal, and a starter peddle i do believe. I forgot about the light dimmer because all the car's I've owned had the dimmer on the steering column. IIRC, the floor light dimmer turned the headlight to high or normal. My parents owned a car, which I drov...

Mike Pence hasn't endorsed him probably because the MAGAt's, who stupidly believe what the TFG says, wanted to hang him on Jan 6th.

Re: EV demand has grown cold
For a lot of people, cars represent their perceived status symbol. For others, it's about practicability. If you're in a professional, high-paying occupation it's expected that you would drive a BMW, Lexus, Mercedes, or other similar high status car. Often, will own an expensive car to give the impr...

Re: Ben Shapiro on retirement and Social Security
Retirement depends on the work. Sometimes retirement means finding a different means of work that's not as hard on your body. Very big where I come from. One size does not fit all, and it's too bad that the demands of the economic system don't match human needs. You make an excellent point about th...

Re: EV demand has grown cold
I doubt you're boring. The public gets what the public wants, and obviously it's what the public wants. The first wave, the oversize ones with the shitty specs, the ones that were always rolling over, were for guys for whom size matters in so many different ways. Now, the current generation of thes...

Anything goes in California, I can't keep up. I believe you are correct though. When this market shift started, it was certainly to much bigger hatchback vehicles which were definitely considered light trucks. They were built on pickup truck frames and they had optional diesel engines. We're talkin...

Massive cicada season due to hit parts of the U.S. this year. There are two types of cicadas (who knew?); one that emerges every 17 years one one that emerges every 13 years. This year, for the first time in 221 years, will emerge at the same time. The cicada will emerge in the Midwest and South aff...

I’ve seen it used for much more. While being sweet about it. And she was trying to deeply insult Biden. Don’t pretend otherwise. What she said is similar to this joke. Four Southern women are meeting 10 years after graduating from college at the home of one of the women. As they chat they start com...

Re: State of the Union Speech
One of the things I noticed in Sen. Britte's response was she used the phrase "Bless his heart" referring to Biden which in Southern speak means "Fuck You." No one ever says republicans stay classy.

It’s paid. Machine operators and registrars get $170 for the day. I don’t think I said it was volunteer. If I did, I misspoke. I got $15 an hour yesterday to pick up materials. In San Diego, you get a "stipend" for working the polls. IIRC, a poll inspector (which I was) got $175, assistan...

Yeah we got the tail end of that. Should have seen me covering up the leak in my wife's car and getting the trash cans out just as the storm grazed our location. Lucky I was watching the radar and made it inside before someone turned on the shower. Except for some thunder and about 5 minutes of abs...

Re: State of the Union Speech
I taped the SOTU and watched it after returning from bowling. I also taped and watch the republican rebuttal by Sen. Britte. her rebuttal was up there with Marco Rubio. Had I only heard her speech and not seen it I would have sworn it was Sarah McLachlan asking for donations to the ASPCA with the cr...

Re: State of the Union Speech
As mentioned before, the SOTU is a campaign speech that past Presidents have used to tout their accomplishments and announce their plans/policies for the future. One thing I noticed throughout the speech is Biden was able to go off-speech and confront the republicans and own them.

That’s bullshit too. Government may fund some basic research but taking that basic research and solving a specific health problem is a whole different process. That involves clinical trials which may stretch a number of years. Government doesn’t fund that. So as a pharma company, you need to have a...

I think I cited that incident in some other post about why I won't touch crypto. Not just the Tulip Mania, but other such debacles such as the South Sea Bubble or the over-leveraged stock market of 1929. Absent prudent controls, any artificially inflated commodity is dangerous, and one that expects...

It's always good to have cool officers. He was a Master Sergeant and we bowled together on the squadrons team. YOUR talking points aren’t accurate. Pharma doesn’t spend their own money on most drugs. The government does, through universities that actually develop the drugs, on government money. Pharma then takes the research the universities do, then they patent them and make the money. The only time Pharma...

Bitcoin did paper money one better. It's worth whatever the market says it is. Nothing tangible is exchanged, not even a piece of paper or a plastic card and a paper receipt. It's all electrons in a cloud. I won't touch the stuff. I know too much about computers to trust it. I barely trust governme...

So i'm not the only one that read some such thing. I've been wondering who those people playing games with firearms out in the desert were and why it was never brought up at trial. Were the guns from the shoot or personal firearms? If they were from the shoot then the person in-charge of the weapon...
