Re: Labor/Economics

The day our constitution was amended making US Senators elected instead of appointed was a sad day. Because that was the beginning of Senator's representing their party instead of their state. Which also lead to the career politicians we now have running the country in a manner where their politica...

. The scuttlebutt around that which I don't know is true or not is when they started drafting white kids from the middle-class and up things changed. You are an unique guy to have volunteered during that era. Again it might not be correct but the stereotype of guys who volunteered were poorly educat...

Re: Boeing

Is there anyone to fill any void if Boeing were to disappear? There are quite several plane manufacturers, but only Boeing and Airbus are the ones making large passenger airplanes. What will probably happen is Boeing will be hit with a big fine but not one that will put them out of business. The U....

Re: April 8, 2024 Total Solar Eclipse

It was such a nothing burger. I was sitting in a drop yard in Irving Texas. I was glad for the eclipse because it too my mind off bowling. The team we were bowling against had a bowler I knew who was a very good bowler, 10 pins above my average, so I had to do well to counter his scores. I started ...

Re: 1969 Draft

I had a draft number between 150 and 175 but I was in college and had a II-S deferment so as long as I was in college and passing I wasn't subject to the draft. One of the best things Nixon did was sign legislation ending the draft and the U.S. went to the All Volunteer force in 1973.

Re: Presidential ranking

The problem with this ranking is the lack of objective criteria. From the OP link: “To do this, we asked respondents to rate each president on a scale of 0-100 for their overall greatness, with 0=failure, 50=average, and 100=great. We then averaged the ratings for each president and ranked them from...

Not a stock I follow. Although I do send Sirius a fair amt of money for my annual subscription. Well worth it if you ask me. Thank god for satellite radio. Re: DJT Stock

Anyone who invests in this stock isn't much of an investor. Unless they were shorting the stock. I doubt most people invest in individual stocks or manage their own portfolio. Selling short is a risky investment strategy that has high risks as well as high gain/losses. It requires a person to spend...

Re: April 8, 2024 Total Solar Eclipse

I was bowling when the eclipse happened so I didn't get to see in-person. Fortunately, we were on lanes 1 & 2 and on the wall next to lane 1 and behind the bowlers so we could easily watch and hear the news coverage of the eclipse.

April 8, 2024 Total Solar Eclipse

Anyone going to watch the solar eclipse on Monday? The total eclipse will occur over a path of the U.S. and most other parts of the country will be able to see a partial eclipse. Weather permitting, it should be a specular sight. If you miss this one you can catch the next one on Aug 23, 2044. Note,...

The storm that hit San Diego was caused by an unusually vigorous low pressure system. LA got three inches from it, which was at the high end of the predicted range. The rain was shorter in duration than the classic atmospheric river storms, since the low was cut off. The jet stream was much farther...

Now they have two choppers up simultaneously doing different strips in LA. I'm sure it's something innocent like mapping. I was taking a look at one of the ADS-B tracking sites and you can click on the aircraft and a window comes up telling you what type of aircraft it is. I checked a couple of hel...

Southern California has been hit with another atmospheric river. In San Diego, we've had 1.26 inches of rain in less than 12 hours and more rain is expected through Sunday.
