"Be the difference. Live the change you want to make."
The title of the thread was advice I heard spoken and while they seem like a cliche, it is incredibly true. It's been said by great poets and philosophers. The Grateful Dead are known for their live performance and their improvisational style. They are very inspirational.

Here is Bob Dylan whose message is similar.

I want to listen to more music. I have only listened to one CD in four months. Yesterday, I listened to this.

Well, I found time to listen to another album. Actually, it was an old cassette tape.

[BBvideo 425,350]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I64d5NUDRgg[/BBvideo]

This is a video of just one song on the album. The whole album is superb.

This is proof that it is possible to find time to make the change you want. The hard part is putting your priorities in order. Music has always been a necessity in my life. It slipped out of my life somewhere when I was busy doing grownup things.

Here is a lyrical picture of humanity trying to come to grips with his existence.
All This And More Lyrics

It's not that I'm so cheerful, though I'll always raise a smile
And if at times my nonsense rhymes then I'll stand trial
My friends are all around me but they only breathe through fear
Were I to cry, I'm sure that still they'd never see a tear

In darkness through my being here, away from you
The bright light of your star confronts me shining through

Dull and sullen, much subdued, my skull a stony glaze
Whirlpools rage on constantly, I'm not so well these days
There must be something somewhere near who sees what's being done
The harbor lights are burning bright, my wax is almost run

In darkness through my being here, away from you
The bright light of your star confronts me, shining through

Come Lollard, raise your lute and sing, and to my ears her beauty bring
Like Maddox in the days of old we'll feast and drink until we fold
And folding still we'll spare a thought for what's been lost and what's been caught
And maybe then begin again for love is life, not poison

In darkness through my being here, away from you
The bright light of your star confronts me, shining through

Come on people, let's get a music thread going. I asked plunderer about bandwidth, the vids you post don't eat the bandwidth of the board. Also, don't just post the video, say something about it. My first (and only) album from them is News Of The World.

Love this song. IMHO, it's the best song that Queen ever did.

I'm not a big fan of jazz. That being said, I'd went to the auto parts store (1980) and bought an FM converter. You could plug it into your AM radio and voila, you got FM. I was headed back to my mom's and meeting a buddy there. He got there before I did. When I pulled into the driveway, I had this song on and cranked. He said "you must really like that song". Yup, love it.

I listen to a lot oldies from the 50s, 60s, and 70s and some from the 80s. I also like other from like easy listening (Anne Murray, Roger Whittaker), soundtracks (Streets of Fire, Eddie and the Cruisers I & II), orchestral (Montovani, light classical from the Music Channel while I read), some Big Band, swing (Big Bad Voodoo Band) and some country (Marty Robbins, Statler Brothers).

The one CD album I listen to the most is Marty Robbins' "The Essential Marty Robbins" which has 50 of his hits. It's a mixture of country songs and western/gunfighter ballads. It has probably his most famous song "El Paso," "Feleena," and "El Paso City." '

"El Paso" is about a wild cowboy and the saloon girl he falls in love with and how he killed a man over her.

"Feleena" is about her life and how she came to El Paso.

"El Paso City" takes place in modern times with the man having "memories" about a cowboy and his girl while flying over El Paso.

"Feleena is a great song and I like the best because it's story is more in depth and the music is basically just guitar accompaniment.

Back in the early 90's a friend of my ex needed a place to live for a short while. So she moved in with us. One day I was walking around the house saying "run down to the butcher shop and buy me a roast".

Later that day the 2 of them went to the grocery store. When they got home, she handed me a roast. I said, WTF? She said, well you kept saying that you wanted a roast.

I about pissed my pants from laughing so hard. I had to explain to her that it was a line from a Joan Jett song. :rw)

This from the album To Lefty From Willie. It's a tribute album to Lefty Frizzell. Somehow in the late 70's my best bud acquired it. It was a promotional album. He couldn't stand C&W so he gave it to me.

[BBvideo 425,350]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m0TtUTotvXs[/BBvideo]

And I, like an idiot, gave it to my mom. The album got destroyed. In hindsight, I wish I would've kept it.

I grew up watching Columbo. It's now shown here on what's called MeTV (Memorable Entertainment Television).

Years ago when my ex and I were doing craft shows, a friend's husband was a tuba player.

No, this song (contrary to popular belief) is not about drugs. It's about struggling to find words while writing a song.

I have such eclectic tastes in music that I can honestly say I have no favorite genre. It's however I feel at a particular moment. I was talking to friends about televangelists and how I equate them with Brother Love of the famous Travelin' Salvation Show. So, naturally, I had to go straight to YouTube and a round of Neil Diamond. So, then, Sweet Caroline reminded me of the Boston Marathon Bombing, so I had to listen to some Boston, which made me think of Friday nights, so it was Katy Perry's TGIF video, which made me think of ROAR and girl empowerment songs, which led to Kacey Musgraves' Follow Your Arrow, which led me to Arrow on the CW and I ended up re-watching the last episode of The Flash on Hulu, which reminded me that Grant Guston also was on GLEE, which reminded me of Cough Syrup by Young the Giant, which led to....

Went to the Elton John concert here last fall. Kept waiting, thought he might do it as an encore. But he didn't. Was kinda bummed, because I like this song so much.

I'm all over the place. Right now, I'm listening to this:

[BBvideo 425,350]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=psPFhu4kKgw[/BBvideo]

The bassist there is George Porter Jr. He and his band, the Runnin' Pardners, are coming to town this week and I wanted to check him out online first.
