Yeah, but you were talking about taking personal responsibility, which you are incapable of doing. You make up lies out of whole cloth, then blame me for MAKING you do it. Look in the mirror.
Example 239 why you cant discuss anything, at all, ever, with a con because they will either outright lie, use faux news/hannity etal talking points which are either completely untrue or mostly, and will in every discussion defend billionaires and corps at the expense of working people.
Reminding them they lie, which you do from time to time, just gives them the excuse to allege you are the one making it personal.
No assholes, YOU MADE it personal when in this case you lied about someone here but more importantly when you DEFENDED repubs and rightwingers who are now assisting our enemy.

Nobody blamed you for anything in this thread. As far as I can tell the only one attacking another poster is you. The only one attempting to start a personal argument is you.
The thread is about Will Smith and Chris Rock. You are attempting to derail this thread into a personal argument. Do you have an issue discussing the OP?
I've been discussing it. I'm just pointing out your hypocrisy in calling for personal responsibility, when you don't practice it yourself.

How do you talk to someone (but dont stop, it is entertaining) when presented with the following choices:
A. Vote for an entity that will assure better pay, working conditions and benefits
B. Vote against said entity in favor of saving corps and stockholders money at the workers' expense
Repeatedly votes B...? Is it maturity? Intellect? Both? Wanting to "stick it" to the libs?

Joe is here for ONE reason only: To defend and support the wealthy and the corporations. That's where his allegiance is. He will NEVER argue against them or find any fault in them.
I figured it out. This isn't about the movies at all. It's just two very visible people whose lives are considered public information, both of whom have arguably overstepped the bounds of civilized behavior, one verbally and one physically. It hit a nerve.
Lack of personal responsibility is what got us into our current mess. It all got corporatized, homogenized, and turned into survival of the richest. Everywhere you look, something's worse than it used to be, and it's amazing how much of it is due to what is essentially socially sanctioned violence by less physical means. The shock seems to come from Smith using the old fashioned way of dealing with a perceived personal insult. We're supposed to be more civilized and merely fuck each over economically, while all the time finding any excuse to jump on the misfortunes or weaknesses of others, and systematically reduce Those Not Like Us to less-than-human status.
Nothing happened at the Oscars that isn't 10 times worse in our politics, except for the actually rather minor difference that candidates don't put on the gloves and go 10 rounds at debates. Yet. Deception is fine. Personal insults are fine. Blackmail is an accepted tactic. All the words used for an election victory are the same ones used to describe all the various types of physical combat.
And what's business competition but violence through socially acceptable means? They even at least used to have a Predator's Ball. They at least used to give awards for best digital disruption, as they still call it. I think there might be a Disruptor's Conference every year, or some similar name. The ones who make out the best are often if not usually also the ones who have forced their competition out of business, or rendered entire huge industries obsolescent. Occasionally, someone even dies. A blood sacrifice to the great god Mammon. More than one industry has stories of people who jumped from high places when they lost control of companies. The one I know best is in broadcasting. Armstrong jumped, after being fucked over by Sarnoff once too often. This is violence too.
It's not about the juvenile behavior of movie stars in an industry which rewards same. It's about the failure of civilization at the hands of the power hungry ruling classes.

Sunday’s telecast of the 94th Oscars was meant to be a celebration of the many individuals in our community who did incredible work this past year. We are upset and outraged that those moments were overshadowed by the unacceptable and harmful behavior on stage by a nominee.
To be clear, we condemn Mr. Smith’s actions that transpired Sunday night.
As outlined in our bylaws, the Academy’s Board of Governors will now make a determination on appropriate action for Mr. Smith. As governed by California law regarding members of nonprofit organizations like the Academy, and set forth in our Standards of Conduct, this must follow an official process that will take a few weeks.
We will continue to update you on any developments, but we also ask that you respect your Board, Academy staff and the process as this unfolds so it can work in the considered way it was intended and mandated.
Please trust that the Board of Governors will conduct this process in a manner that is both expedient and respectful of all involved while maintaining the standards of the Academy.
Thank you,
David Rubin, President

In other news, a bit old by now, here's proof that the Oscars are now a variety show:

Imagine losing sleep over the opinion of people who used Black babies as bait.
There certainly is a lot more. Along with the inevitable racial undercurrent, aka would there be so much of a fuss if it was two white guys, it has activated all the other issues that people usually would rather not talk about.
This is why I said the movies are obviously a microcosm.

Not even someone as extreme as Weinstein got this kind of response that Will Smith is.
So there is way more here than one rich guy hitting another, Popeye/Bluto style, at the Oscars.
There is unquestionable racism involved with many on this one.
Just listening to David Spade, Dana Carvey podcast and they both touched on having been bullied as kids, that Chris had just been on their show talking about it as he too had been.
Anyway , this is what I tweeted and I got a response from J. Elvis Weinstein who is a stand up
celebrities being asked to comment on “the slap” could say they were “caught between a Rock and a hard place“

I haven't lost a second of sleep.
That industry deprived me of enough sleep. I'm not going to lose any more over it, or the bad behavior of the overprivileged movie stars in it.
I don't think you're losing sleep, but apparently plenty of people are, like Kareem, Jim Carey, S E Cupp, and other violent people with their ridiculous, pearl-clutching hot takes. :problem:

After Will Smith slapped Chris Rock, the Academy says it asked Will Smith to leave and Will Smith refused.
The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences on Wednesday said that Will Smith was asked to leave Sunday’s Oscar ceremony after hitting Chris Rock but refused to do so.
The academy’s board of governors met Wednesday to initiate disciplinary proceedings against Smith for violations against the group’s standards of conduct. The academy said disciplinary action for Smith could include suspension, expulsion or other sanctions.
“Things unfolded in a way we could not have anticipated,” the academy said. “While we would like to clarify that Mr. Smith was asked to leave the ceremony and refused, we also recognize we could have handled the situation differently.”
A representative for the academy declined to give specifics on how it tried to removed Smith. After Smith struck Rock in response to a joke about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, several stars including Denzel Washington, Bradley Cooper and Tyler Perry spoke with the 53-year-old Smith. https://apnews.com/article/oscars-will- ... 06bcf234c1
"And for [the Academy] to let him stay in that room and enjoy the rest of the show and accept his award, I was like how gross is this? This is just the wrong message. You assault somebody, you get escorted out the building," Sykes continued. "For them to let him continue, I thought it was gross."
Rumor has it, more and more are speaking up.
Smith should have been thrown out on his ass, and his award taken away.
Me, i'd let him keep the award as a constant reminder of the day he f'd up big time.

I guess Fox News is all pissed off that Biden wont comment. Of course if Trump was still Pres he’d have been doing running commentary on the whole thing and rating the women on how hot they were.
A confrontation between two actors at an award show is not something the POTUS should comment on. Why bother?
There was a time when the Presidency was above getting into yammering about two celebrities having a spat. I know it's hard to remember that considering how low Drumpf debased it to. Of course, he'd have already commented, and I'm sure it would have been stupid and inflammatory.
