I plead guilty. Since I've been laid up, I've had time to watch episode after episode of shows like "Agents of SHIELD," "Dark Matter," "Arrow," and Netflix original series "Daredevil."

I just started "Jessica Jones." My sister and brother-in-law say it's great.

Seen any of those? Whattyathink?

I've done binge watching but I don't use Netflix or other streaming media, just the cable channels. The two main programs I've watched are Doctor Who and Star Trek: The Next Generation reruns on BBC American. There aren't many shows, other than The Big Bang Theory that I'd binge watch.

Star Trek TNG is one of my all time favorite shows! I'm dating myself here, but I own all seasons on VHS.

Recently, I was surprised to see Wil Wheaton as a guest star on "Dark Matter."

Dunno. I am not partisan towards either DC or Marvel heroes. Like them both.

But what's been on TV just hasn't grabbed me.

On the DC side, Green Arrow and Flash were never my favorite heroes. But I'm liking Supergirl, and Legends of Tomorrow looks interesting.

On the Marvel side, Agents of Shield? They get to occasionally cameo some interesting characters, but meh. Daredevil? Never my favorite. The Affleck movie was terrible. I gotta confess I may be one of the only people who liked Jennifer Garner as Elektra, though.

And I had to look up Jessica Jones, because when I first heard of her I was like "who?" ... well, she seems definitely pitched at the millennials.

I despair of one thing. For crissakes, can nobody make a decent Fantastic Four movie? Both the originals and the remake were shit.

Deadpool is an interesting Marvel character because he constantly breaks the 4th wall, but ... well, still don't know how good the movie will be. At least they retconned him out of being a Frankenstein monster in the Wolverine: Origins film.

Captain America: Civil War is looking more and more like Avengers 2.5: avengers, let's beat the crap out of each other!

Oh, BTW, on the Doctor Who Christmas Special.

Spoilers?

... I know it drove the plot, and I really thought there was some reason she was stringing out pretending not to know who he was (as it wasn't clear at the beginning at what point in their respective timelines they were intersecting), ... but I found it kind of hard to believe it took River as long as it did to realize she was dealing with the Doctor with a new face, as she clearly was at the point in her timeline where she already knew he regenerates into new faces & bodies.

Guess they get one last night together, good thing it lasts 24 years.

The first season Deadwood from HBO might be one of the best things ever made.

If you watch, stop at the end of the first season. The following seasons are decent but not as strong as the first.

The language is a bit harsh.

Is that what Wil Wheaton looks like, why he,,, he looks like Chief Mate Ken Bishop.

You wouldn't know him, he was a Mate on the Glomar Explorer in his younger day:

Yes, that ship! I wasn't there, I knew him later.

Then he jumped off of the Golden Gate Bridge, that's why I gasped when I saw him.

I wonder if they'll cast Wil Wheaton to play Mate Bishop when they make the movie?

The Doctor Who Christmas specials are, overall, pretty good stories. As for Riversong not recognizing the current Doctor, I think that's because originally he was supposed to only be able to regenerate 12 time and Matt Smith's version of Doctor Who was supposed to be the last regeneration. However, the writers fixed it so he could continue to regenerate so Riversong wouldn't have a picture of the new, 13th, Doctor.

The writers also have a good handle on time travel and showed their fun side with the episode The Pandorica Opens in which the Doctor does multiple time travels from Roman occupied Stonehenge to modern times. I'm also amazed at how their story lines can intersect over a number of seasons.

Can't argue with anything you've said. Deadwood is one of those series I couldn't binge watch mainly because it was much rawer than the typical western. Once a week was enough for me.

I don't have Netflix, but last night Canada's equivalent of SyFy, The Space Channel aired all the episodes so far of The Expanse.

It was extremely well done. They got a LOT of the science right, and one thing wrong...THERE'S NO SOUND IN SPACE! Other than that one thing they got a lot right.

The plot is excellent, it's based on a series of books.

The series has been described as "Game of Thrones in space." The description is apt. I'm going to continue watching it as they air new episodes.

Heck, tomorrow I'm getting a haircut. Since my barber's in the general vicinity of my favourite bookstore I'm going to pick up the series and read them.

I find Doctor Who Christmas specials hit or miss. If I recall correctly the first David Tennant episode was a Christmas special. That one was good. I hated The Runaway Bride. I loathed the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe take-off. The last two were excellent.

That was a good one. I especially like his line after he regenerated his hand and said "This new hand is a fightin' hand?" with a bit of a Southern or hillbilly drawl.

Agree, it wasn't one of the better episodes.

Actually, I liked that one. It's title is The Doctor, the Widow, and the Wardrobe. I liked it when he goes back in time to use the TARDIS to light the way so her husband can land his crippled bomber safely so she wouldn't become a widow. Also, at the end when the Doctor is in the attic and he tells her to watch as his TARDIS leaves as it disappears he husband walks in and asks what that was and she answered, as if it was an ordinary event, "It's just the Doctor returning to the space-time continuum."

I thought it was overly sappy, and saccharine.

That's why I liked the Alienish one the next year so much. :D

It's sad that this year's Christmas special was the best episode of this season.

I was never a comic book reader, so I have nothing to compare the Marvel or DC tv shows.

Regarding the films, I've never seen Fantastic Four or the X-Men. My favorite DC films were Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. For Marvel, it was The Avengers (didn't care for the 2nd film), Thor: The Dark World, Captain America: the Winter Soldier, and Ant Man.

The same actor portrayed the Human Torch in the original Fantastic Fours, and is now playing Captain America.

Whatsisname again? Oh yeah, Chris Evans.

BTW, I like him much better as Steve Rogers/Captain America, the kid from Brooklyn who was born scrawny but with the heart of a hero, than as Johnny Storm/Human Torch, who is a self-absorbed egotistical showoff.

As you've probably heard, the DC movies are moving toward introducing the lineup of characters that will eventually become the Justice League movie ensemble. That's why Wonder Woman will be in the Superman vs. Batman movie. Ben Affleck will now have played two superheroes, as he will be Batman.

Oh, and one more bit of TV news. Just saw the 21 minute trailer, the X-Files: Reopened is coming back to TV next year with a six-part series, Basically, the opening and closing episodes will be the most focused on the 'mythos' and will have the same title. The four in between ones will be standalones, with one apparently being a campy monster one featuring some kind of "creature from the black lagoon".

Oh, and apparently though they finally were in a (physical) relationship in the 2nd movie, that is over again in the new series. Also, the new miniseries will star some TV talk show host character who is supposed to be a Glenn Beck type and a 9-11 truther, he's the one who brings Mulder & Sculley back into action. The Lone Gunmen and Cigarette Smoking Man are back. And Mulder gets an iPhone!

The 3rd season of "The Following" is now available. That's another show I binged watched. This show is more like the massive car wreck or accident you know you'll regret looking at but just can't help yourself.

Binge watched the Leftovers, hope they have a season three but will be content with it ending where it is at, in fact: "I live here now".
Also binged Peaky Blinders, hope they bring another season. Have read they plan on multiple seasons up to WWII.
Binged Sense8, surprised at how much I liked it. Binged Sherlock, beyond good. Binged House of Cards.
Also That 70s Show ((except last year, got to painful) did watch series finale)) Always Sunny in Philadelphia, cannot believe I missed that one until this year.
We binge Firefly at least once a year. Criminal that it only got one year.
Recently started X Files from the beginning.

My son wants me to watch Breaking Bad, have not done so yet. I know many people who say it was great, but Hal is one of my favorite characters of all time and I fear losing him.

Oh my, Breaking Bad is amazing.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is from Tina Fey and is another great comedy. Only one season so far.

One of William Shatner's first appearances was on the Twilight Zone.

Image

"Nightmare at 20,000 feet"; he's the only one who can see a monster on the wing of the plane. They remade that segment for the Twilight Zone movie.

As you may recall, some of the crew for the movie did, in fact, die in a helicopter crash.
