Yes.
The reason I ask is because this law came about from your party’s abortion laws. Not sure if you knew this, but…

New California bill modeled after Texas abortion law would let citizens sue gun makers
The California legislation is modeled after a Texas law that bans abortion approximately six weeks after the pregnant person's last menstrual cycle using a unique enforcement mechanism: It deputizes private citizens, rather than the state's executive branch, to sue anyone who "aids and abets" the procedure.

Any individual, even those with no connection to a patient or clinic, can sue anyone involved in an illegal abortion and win up to $10,000 in court, the Texas Tribune reported.

Gun Control: Gun control legislation should ultimately fall on individual states, with the exception of a federal ban on assault weapons and instant background checks to prevent firearms from finding their way into the hands of criminals and the mentally ill.

Manufacturer Liability: Gun manufacturers should not be held liable for the misuse of their products, just as any other industry isn’t held accountable for how end-consumers use their products.

Governor Newsom appears to be setting up a legal challenge to the PLCAA. While I disagree with his stance, I respect his action as an elected official and will follow this with interest as it goes through the legal process.
Should they be responsible for how they MARKET those products? For instance when they sell them as perfect for hunting people?

Remember that the tobacco companies were held to account when they marketed cigarettes to children.

Our problem is that corporations are amoral, and they do whatever it takes to increase profits, no matter the social or human costs. That's why we have to have government to reign them in.

When lawsuits were made against the tobacco companies ... up came a similar defense. We don't force anybody to use our product, nor did we fail to warn them of the dangers of using it (since 1964, anyway), so why should we be sued for the harm it causes?

Here's the thing: they are selling a product they knew was addictive (nicotine, in terms of its addictive potential, is more addictive than heroin) and more significantly told Congress they manipulated the nicotine in their product with chemical additives to MAKE it MORE addictive.

Also, there was the issue of how they marketed to children, and other problems GoU just mentioned. So yes, the lawsuits returned damages.

Name another product MANUFACTURED to kill people, not as a consequence of use like a car, but DESIGNED to take human life?

Sue them into oblivion. Save tens of thousands of lives.
I sigh in your general direction.

We all agree guns are used in war for killing, right?

Is this not, then, an indication of a function they are designed for?

I mean, let's not beat around the bush. A gun is designed to kill things. Either animals - or people.

This seems kind of self evident to me, so I find it weird I have to be the first one to say it.

War/military firearms, like machine guns, in turn are designed for killing large amounts of people in a small amount of time. In war, this is sometimes considered the objective. No?

Look, bombs, rockets, and missiles are not designed for spreading cheery love and rainbows, either ... but I just don't see this strange denialism over what they are designed to do.
