Went to a sneak preview of the new movie Dunkirk last night at North Island NAB. The movie is about the British trying to get 400,000 men off the beaches of Dunkirk as the Germans advance on land towards them while attacking them from the air. The movie is different in that it isn't centered around one or two main characters but from the perspective three viewpoints: three RAF pilots, two soldiers (one English and one French), and a British civilian, his son, and a neighbor teen sailing to Dunkirk to help rescue the British Army.

The dialogue is sparse as this is a visual story as seen through the eyes of the three different groups of people. When a British Navy ship, loaded with evacuees, is bombed by the Germans you see what the two soldiers go through to survive, the attempt by the RAF to shoot down the bomber before it can attack the ship, and the actions of the father, son, and teen to rescued the survivors.

Overall, it was okay for a drama but not something I'd watch again. It did a good job of portraying the horrors soldiers/sailors/airmen face during war without having to get too graphic.
