i love music. pretty sure it's one of my first memories. love alot of motown and am a huge supremes fan. also love a lot of imitators. george michael, eminem.

i dunno i suppose i gravitate toward nirvana, u2, madonna, peter gabriel type music but i'm only slightly embarrassed to say i like some of justin biebers music. country music is my least fav altho love me some cowboy junkies and blue rodeo.

Most musicians, and I consider myself an amateur, dont do this calcification or at least not to the extent others might.

Sometimes I have to be told to listen again, and then I do. Rap was one of those, Hip Hop. Now I love most of it.

Of course we would. The Bee Gees are just imitators. Michael was from Motown and produced by Quincy Jones, who was originally a big band/orchestra guy.

Without Motown there would be no Philly Soul. No Philly Soul, no disco.

I think I probably meant the popularity of the music, not the origination of it. Most of the time Black artists create and perfect the genre and due to racism and systemic racism a white person comes along to popularize it.

Not now, of course but in the past I think.

I did word it wrong, yes we would have those songs, would we know we did is another question. Did most of America know about the music Elvis was singing before Elvis, no. bTW did you see the doc on him on HBO, pretty good.

Using MJ as an example in my post was a mistake. You are right.
