Bryan Fischer says Christopher Hitchens is in Hell because god loves him. Why would he send him to heaven? Hitchens would hate that!

I WANT to go to Hell when I die.
Just to see if Dubya still has that smirk on his face.

Actually I was IN Hell last week.
It's a small village on Grand Cayman.
The weather was nice.

first of all he is lying. one makes the assumption that there would be several applicants for a youth minister position (notice that he used the "youth minister' example as a subtle implication that gays prey upon children) and that said church could select from those applicants who they want. they would not be "forced" to hire the gay person. furthermore, imo, a gay is not likely to solicit employment at a church which actively and aggressively promotes an anti-gay agenda.

as for the police sitting in churches and arresting pastors who quote romans it would, imo, never come close to withstanding a legal challenge based upon the first amendment. it would be the state interfering in religion.

barton is simply playing to the crowd.

But religion interfering with state would be just fine with him.

Bryan Fischer says god made men leaders and not women. Women have feminized the government using fear, warmth, and sensitivity instead of the masculine traits of fairness, stability, and the rule of law.

Actually, I think anyone who quotes "Saint" Paul should at least get a ticket....

In right wing world, fear = equality to the poor and minorities
fairness = more tax cuts to the rich
rule of law = water boarding isn't torture

Matthew Hagee says that public schools teach kids that god doesn't exist, that socialism subsidizes abortions and people who refuse to work. He says the church's position on AIDS should be thou shall not commit adultery. He downplays those who contacted it through rape, incest, and medical mistakes.

I was totally amazed the other day when I was reading the Catholic consortium's letter to both Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum on the subject of "race-baiting," and found that four-out-of-five people to whom I broached the subject had never heard either of the statements attributed to these avowedly Catholic candidates.
"I never heard that!" and "Where did you hear that?" and "Why haven't I read it in the paper?" and "Why haven't I seen it on television?"
These are the people who get their news from the local small-town daily that is heavy on editorials and LTTE about the economic excesses of the Obama presidency, and watch the local news and the national news if they're not otherwise engaged in "Angry Birds" or other online games, or actually playing poker, pinochle, bridge, or attending chorus practice. Busy people who want all the news in one half-hour.
In this particular case, I actually applaud Bill O'Reilly for at least bringing the subject up. Sure, it seemed as if Bill had gone along with Santorum's "I said Blah people," defense, but this was one time when Fox News presented a topic and allowed viewers to actually think for themselves....

Speaking of candidates making shit up, this one's great. Rachel Maddow had a segment on Newt Gingrich and his vowing to set up colonies on the moon by the end of his "second term."

Maddow began the segment in a space suit and highlighted other republican's comments on some of the other weird things about Newt. Bob Dole said Newt would show up at fund raisers carrying an empty bucket.

Speaking of Maddow, she also featured a story about Georgia's state attorney general considering keeping the president's name off the ballot come election time because he's not a natural born citizen.

Wingnut Orly Taitz rears her ugly head again in this one.

Would somebody please stop this train, or tilt-a-whirl, or run-away bus?
What's the story? Do we go along with these fruit-cakes so as not to seem like a bunch of budding communists?
I cannot believe for one moment that my conservative friends on this board are into this shit....

Santorum sites bogus claims that abortion causes breast cancer. And he suggests the government doesn't want you to practice your faith because they allow abortion, which in turn violates the constitution.

imo, the sack that is santorum will flame out. the corporatist section of the republican party will eventually regain control as the tea party/theocrat side has been exposed as incapable of governing. i grant that santorum won three primaries. however imo he is even less electable than romney. i think the best thing that could happen to the dems is for paul or one of the other reps to run on a third party ticket. it would splinter the republican party.

Yeah, no way will Sanitorium will be the nominee. Once the primaries get out of the bible belt...I doubt seriously Maine will put him in first place. I expect this state will pick him just like they did back in 08.

Apophenia.
And derangement.

"Apophenia is the experience of seeing meaningful patterns or connections in random or meaningless data. The term was coined in 1958 by Klaus Conrad...."
Somebody here knows their psychology... The thing is, apophenia can be relatively benign or border-line psychotic or full-blown derangement. This was something I found incredibly fascinating back in my college days. Haven't thought about it in many, many years. Boy, it's good to have you back here, Repent_Harlequin....

Forgot to mention it was Romney that won the Maine caucus in 08.
