Actually, it's now too late to curb their power.

And once they get some real AI up and running, it will be lights out for most mortal humans who are severely lacking in the necessary cyber implants that would allow them to be relevant and worth keeping alive.

So Google can send them sponsored ads based on the shopping list, and where they are.

Meanwhile in traditional telecomm world, AT&T is getting ready to buy out Time Warner, which is already a behemoth.

Didn't we already break up Ma Bell? The big social media platforms and Google aren't just acting like a cartel full of monopolies, that's what they are.

I really like Ari Melber's reporting on Facebook. Him touring Puerto Rico in his virtual avatar, showing off Facebook "tech," while the people around him are starving and dying ... classic Zuckerberg.

The thing about Zuckerberg is he was always an asshole. See Social Network. He screwed over people on his way to the top. Some deserved it, like Sean Fanning or the Winkelvoss Twins. Others didn't.

If you control the world's largest social media platform with a planet sized number of users, it's time to stop with the "what, we should control what's on our network" or "what, we need regulation?" attitude.

The 1st amendment does not protect disinformation and fraud. And yes, if people are using your platform to promote it, you DO need to do something about it.
