UPDATE: My throat surgery is scheduled for Sept. 10. I will have various test and x-rays the day before and have a pre-op visit with the doctor. I will be in the hospital for a week!

Im a little nervous about it since it is my airway. YIKES! But the outcome will be better breathing. If all goes well, the next plan is hip replacement surgery.

And since my gastric surgery, I've lost 70 lbs! :) I'm getting around a lot better and no longer need the riding wagon in the grocery and department stores.

The down side is Trump is still president. He ruins everything.

Thanks for the update, Rita Ann! So glad to hear about the progress.

I'm ("Professor X" that is) currently being played by Harry Lloyd on Legion. :D

Couldn't get Patrick Stewart or James MacAvoy.

The series finale is next week. My son David Haller ("Legion") either destroys the world or ... well, I guess we'll find out.

The interesting thing is, they've finally suggested, fairly late in the series, that David is mentally ill with split personalities not just because he was possessed by the Shadow King, but because he may have inherited it from his mother, Gabrielle Haller.

Although, of course, it appears Gabrielle, a Gypsy, was a concentration camp survivor. So that didn't help.

Oh, and we FINALLY found out how Amahl Farouk came to be known as the Shadow King, in the 2nd-to-last episode. I think the series is also hinting he's been playing Syd and Division 3 all along. Maybe doing things to exacerbate David's condition?

The finale looks like a showdown between Xavier and David and Farouk and ... Farouk (looks like his older self has escaped and come back in time).

I just couldn't get into that series. For one, I found it confusing and 2; didn't like the characters. The lead actor creeps me out. I saw him in a Netflix film called Apostle and he creeped me out then too, although he was the savior of the day.

To be fair, he (Dan Stevens) is playing a fairly creepy character. "Legion" in the comics was definitely at best an antihero. By season 2, it was pretty clear David was becoming one, also.

The show, of course, is definitely unconventional. You can never be sure what's really happening because the protagonist isn't altogether sane, and at least two characters have reality warping powers.

But Noel Hawley also just can't help himself, he also loves to throw in rap and dance battles, to have the tech be some kind of weird retrofuturism, and generally give the whole thing a Fargo-like surrealistic tinge.

I will say this: they refuse to do fan service. People hoping for the other X-Men to show up -- nope, Hawley's not doing that.

Rita, good to hear things are improving for you. Losing 70 pounds is amazing.

I have a friend who retired about two years ago and he's had hip replacement surgery as well as knee replacement surgery. He had a lot of bed rest as well as physical therapy but he knew it was going to be worth it in the end. He just finished physical therapy for his knees and he's happy to be mobile again. I accuse him of using up all our Medicare dollars on his damn hips and knees. :rw)

Take care and let us know how your throat surgery goes.
