I noticed a funny feeling on my upper lip. Didn't give it to much thought at the moment. Then the feeling got worse. I went and looked in the mirror. Holy shit Batman!

My mouth looked like someone had punched me in the face. No blood, no bruising. Just an extremely fat lip. I waited a couple hours and it hadn't gone down. Off to the emergency room I go. Really fucking fun not having a car and riding the bus to the hospital.

Well, turns out that I am/was having a drug reaction. Dr comes in and says "you're taking Lisinopril and you're having a drug reaction". Well, I've been on it for 10 months and had no problems until today. They gave me Prednisone (steroid) and Benadryl. He said to quit taking the Lisinopril Supposed to go back if things get worse. Need to call my Dr on Monday and let him know, I already have an appointment on Wednesday.

So, that was my wonderful day.

This is basically what my upper lip looks like.

Thankfully, my tongue hasn't been affected.

I have a fat lip and no fight to show for it.

I took Lisinopril for about a year. I developed a really bad cough. It was so bad it gagged me and people would hear it and think I was choking or about to puke. I chocked it up to an allergy, but when my primary care looked at my medication chart, they immediately took me off it and switched the BP meds. The cough gradually went away.

The Dr added it after I was diagnosed with diabetes. The nephrology nurse said "good, he's trying to protect your kidneys". Well, don't know what he's going to do now. I was reading that once something like this happens, you're pretty much done for taking ACE inhibitors.

What it caused was an angioedema. You want to see some scary pictures, do a Google image search. YIKES!

The doctor will probably suggest that you try an ARB next.
