RIP Maureen;

Quote:
The actor Maureen O’Hara, famed for her flaming red hair and her role in The Quiet Man, has died aged 95.

Her family confirmed in a statement that she passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home in Boise, Idaho on Saturday morning surrounded by family.

“It is with a sad heart that we share the news that Maureen O’Hara passed away today in her sleep of natural causes,” a statement from the Fitzsimons family read.

“Maureen was our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She passed peacefully surrounded by her loving family as they celebrated her life listening to music from her favourite movie, The Quiet Man.”

TCM showed The Hunchback of Notre Dame, in which she played Esmeralda, and I had taped it to watch later. I was feeling under the weather today and so I watched it. It wasn't after the movie was over when I went did I read she had passed away.

I remember some of her movies like:
Miracle on 34th Street
Big Jake
The Quiet Man
Only the Lonely
McLintock

She was one of the last remaining stars from the late 30s/early 40s.

Why do we say "Rest in peace" when that is no longer possible?"

Beats me.

I remember her going on Carson after Only the Lonely.

They got to talking about Only the Lonely and Carson asked her if those were her legs on the movie poster she responded, "Well they sure as hell aren't mine" all while showing proof to back that up.

It beats me why you would say it is no longer possible. We've enjoyed 65 years of relative peace. An unprecedented period of relative peace contrasting a bloody period of almost continuous war going back at least 300 to 400 years. No major nations have been slugging it out for a very long time. No death tolls mounting to millions.

You are reading my words out of context or in a subtext which I am not.

That's why I prefaced, said it beats me.

Death hasn't changed, a person dead still achieves a state of peace. Tiring from that point on is off of the table, so I suppose to consider that person as resting is in order.

If the context wasn't world war I cannot fathom what it would be.

I say they achieve an end to living, and therefore don't exist.
