I can’t believe it. In a foot-in-the-mouth instance for the ages, Jill Biden, who attended the game on Sunday, really stuck it in. https://www.cnn.com/2023/04/04/sport/an ... index.html
“Last night I attended the NCAA women’s basketball championship,” said Biden, while speaking at an event at the Colorado State Capitol in Denver.

“So I know we’ll have the champions come to the White House, we always do. So, we hope LSU will come but, you know, I’m going to tell Joe [Biden] I think Iowa should come, too, because they played such a good game.”
NO, NO, NO!

First, Iowa DIDN’T play a good game, the game was never in doubt. They were soundly beaten by LSU. Secondly, we end the “participation” trophies in grade school, okay? There isn’t a White House trip for the losers. Reese Wilson attacked her statement as “A JOKE!” And it was. You know, I hadn’t thought about it until Reese Wilson started getting attacked, but this WAS a game between white women and black women. Yeah, Caitlin Clark was someone most people wanted to see win, as a cap to a fantastic season, but it wasn’t meant to be. Hell, if Clark had been a Senior, maybe she gets a separate trip to the White House as a generational player, but not when she’s got another season to go.

This IS disrespect to the “black team” now, and I just can’t believe Jill Biden did this. The right-wing noise machine will eat this up and talk about it for months, and I can’t blame them.

She has just made this a mess. I’m sure that the Biden Administration will be in damage control starting today, but this is just fucking stupid.

Yep, Doc is wrong on this one, big time.

I would hope by now she would have retracted her comment.
I sigh in your general direction.

Damage control is underway. https://www.wwltv.com/article/sports/nc ... 985579be9c
On Tuesday, Press Secretary to the First Lady Vanessa Valdivia tried to calm the growing fires on social media.

"The First Lady loved watching the NCAA women's basketball championship game alongside young student-athletes and admires how far women have advanced in sports since the passing of Title IX. Her comments in Colorado were intended to applaud the historic game and all women athletes. She looks forward to celebrating the LSU Tigers on their championship win at the White House."

Great video! The beginning of a championship coach - LSU's Kim Mulkey when she was a 5'4" point guard for Louisiana Tech.

She was a national champion back then, too.

It had nothing to with race. For goodness sake why does everything have to be race with you.
She made a gesture she thought would be applauded, it obviously wasn't. She made a mistake and it doesn't go any deeper than that.

Bullshit. It wasn't meant, but that's what it was about.

This wasn't a close game, LSU led the whole way. There was no reason to suggest BOTH teams would go.

But hey, Fox News is all over it, and will be, I'm sure, for months.

And the attacks on Reese Wilson for doing the VERY same thing Caitlin Clark is FAMOUS for doing, and she's always been praised for doing so.

And top sports commentators like Shannon Sharpe and Rich Eisen agree with me that the attacks on Wilson are racist.

And both Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe agreed with me yesterday. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pJEtVJVx39U

So watch the video and make your argument to them.

Eisen and Sharpe are good sources on a topic like this. Skip Bayless suffers from an incurable case of liberal white guilt.
He is another person from the left that believes whenever a black person speaks about race, white people need to be silent and never question the black person's views.
So I guess I need to yield to the opinion of Sharpe and Eisen

Nope. Had my opinion from the beginning. Just backing it up from the people you listen to.

Of course it would be your opinion. Anytime something like this comes up you cry racism. No facts needed.

Everytime an African American is shot by police you say it is racist no matter the facts.
In fact anytime a controversy involving race occurs you say racism.
In fact all you see is skin color.

An honest response. A factual response.
