Although the whole Stormy Daniels thing is most likely true, I think there's a major problem here. Stories like this are taking over the news cycle and distracting from the most important story of our time. This type of distraction favors the enemy. The real story that continues to be downplayed is Russia. Russia attacked the USA. They hacked America and continue to target America with misinformation, creating chaos and divisiveness.

Politicians are compromised. Figures in the media, are compromised. Trump is compromised. He praises Putin but he attacks fellow Americans, including law enforcement and the FBI. He has key staff working in the White House that were not granted security clearance. Almost his entire cabinet has Russian ties. His son met with Russian spies to deal policy change in exchange for dirt on Hillary Clinton. Trump invited Russian spies into the oval office, and handed over allied Intel. Trump refuses Intel on the matter pertaining to Russia, and Trump will not acknowledge and implement measures to stop Russia from its continued campaign against the USA. AND, Trump refuses to implement the sanctions on Russia that were passed overwhelmingly by Congress for their attack on the United States. He just flat out refuses to implement them.

But the media would rather talk about Trump having sex with a porn star and who paid her off. Stories like this serve a purpose. And it's a purpose that benefits Russia.

Dunno, Drak. I see what you're saying but to me, it's good that all of these stories about these grifters are coming out. Each one ends up pointing to something else regarding Russia: nothing these swindlers say can be trusted..about anything. Not even on something as trivial as who paid off this woman.

I'm not sure the Russiagate and Stormy stories are unrelated.

Mike Cohen is now saying he paid her, and Trump didn't know about the payment. Even IF true it's still legally sketchy behavior. Attorneys don't normally do that, but fixers/bagmen like Michael Clayton do. And are we really still to believe it wasn't to cover up a sexual affair? I notice he's not talking about that at all. But it's what I'd want people to believe to keep Trump's deniability intact. I paid her, Trump didn't know, no campaign funds! did I say that, just to keep her from talking to GMA ... not that she had anything actual to say.

Anyway, remember, Chris Steele went to the FBI because he was worried that the Russians could have kompromat/blackmail on Trump. ... Could that have included either l'Affaire Stormy, or the other allegation of messing around with a Playboy model (that's also out there). If he didn't want people to know about it ... and they knew ... it could have been used as blackmail.

Maybe it's the icecap of an iceberg of other stuff the Russians could have as kompromat.

We don't yet know what Mueller knows. ;)

I think the Stormy Daniels story is true and you're right, it's related. But kompromat stories like this distract from the key issue. There's going to be a stock pile of stories like this surrounding these people because they're scum bags that can be used to distract. While they should be reported, they should be taking a back seat to the significant issue pertaining to Russia. I know it sounds crazy, but the Russia story should be relentlessly pounded out by all major media outlets. It's an attack on democracy. Then, maybe I'm just being impatient and expect more at this point.

Admitting he paid hush money, like everything these people do, is an admission of guilt. They seem to think they'll get off because they're rich. They do it right out in the open. The only problem seems to be that someone would be so uppity as to prosecute them for it.

I'm reminded of the conditions that caused the French Revolution.

While the chip, chip, chip thing might be good, it's also an opportunity for Republicans to do their game plan. They distract and distract some more. They understand political theater, to the point where often there isn't much else.

Yes, we need to do Russia the way they did Her E-mails.

OK this is one time I am going to defend Trump....sort of. We know that Trump is morally bankrupt and probably has a sexual history that would make a Vietnam Veteran blush. But, it is more than slightly hypocritical to believe the story of a porn star if you are one of those people who do not or did not believe the stories about a former president.

Now that being said I agree 100% with the thought of this thread that insignificant things like worrying about if the President had oral sex distracts from the real scandals. The conspiracy part of me wants to believe that someone within the Trump camp leaked the story. Knowing the porn star looking for publicity would talk. Also knowing that once pressured she would have to retract or pay back the payoff money. Which would help team Trump not only distract but more importantly discredit not just this accuser but all accusers.

BTW, I am in the camp that does believe the porn star. But, then while I don't believe Bill C raped anyone I do believe he acted in an inappropriate manner.

So the OP is correct this story is a distraction and you would be wise not to fall into the trap.

:problem:

What conservative white Christian Evangelical male doesn't defend Trump's sexual violence, sexual battery, and philandering? Rhetorical question. No need to bother with an attempt at an answer.

Any form of "In Kind" donation would become immediately suspect. If such a donation was made for the express purpose of keeping Daniels quiet, it is a violation of Federal Campaign Finance Laws.

By admitting he paid Daniels the money, it also puts in jeopardy Attorney Client Priviledge and submarines the N.D.A. Daniels signed.

Man should kept his mouth shut.

In all seriousness, what makes a porn star a less than credible person? Being a sex worker is not, in itself, a reason not to be believed.

Her fellow porn star Jessica Drake accused Trump of assault, and BTW I don't think Drake can't be trusted just because she works in porn.

Her other fellow porn star Alan Evans says Trump tried to involve her in a menage a trois. BTW, we haven't got to the Playboy model, yet. :D

As for the two accusers of Bill Clinton, although I do believe women should be heard, I pointed out why they might lack credibility, and it has nothing to do with what they do for a living.

Probably not that much beyond personal prejudice . But, either way it makes what I said no less relevant. That being it is hypocritical to believe one and discount the other.

Your personal prejudices make all the difference in the world to your perceptions, and your decision to defend donald trump.

And you guys want to prattle on about the credibility of others, or wonder why you can't be trusted? Really?

I'm going to ask you politely, to please not sidetrack this thread into another one of your Bill Clinton derailments.

The precedent on consensuall sex was set with the Clinton case. You remember. Consensual sex. Two adults. None of our business. Between the husband and wife. Everybody lies about sex. And so on. Based on what I have heard this relationship was consensual.

Sexual assault is a different story. That's a crime. That is our business.

Do you feel the president's lawyer paying shut-up money to this woman over the course of his campaign is our business?

How about a out-of-control White House that can't get its act together on this thing or anything else?

If the precedent is that consensual sex between two adults is not our business than the arrangement between the attorney and Daniels as also none of our business as long as it was legal. I thought Clinton having sex with an employee in his office during working hours was out business but apparently the Democratic party did not believe that such conduct was impeachable. So if the Democrats have changed their tune as to what is or is not our business, I don't have a problem. People have a right to change their minds. But if they want to impeach Trump on this then the Democrats need to take the lead and make the case. The last time Republicans tried to argue these issues, the Democrats fought them tooth and nail.

Didn't answer the question.

The issue of your president paying off Stormy Daniels hush money is not the fault of "Democrats" or "Clinton," despite the ceaseless conservative resentments about him. Nice try, though.

If the underlying relationship between these two consenting adults is none of our business then the payment of hush money is none of our business. The whole sex between consenting adults is none of our business was the precedent set by the Clinton Impeachment. All the arguments and concerns you present here were argued and presented in that case. So if it was none of our business then, why is it suddenly our business today? If it was between Hillary and Bill back then it seems to me to be between Melania and Donald. If you want to argue differently then be my guest. You can explain why it's impeachable today and was none of our business back then.

Why are you even freaking out about "impeachment"?

The topic is the president's lawyer paying out hush money to Stormy Daniels, not your residual freakouts about Bill Clinton.
