I did. Did you hear that Joe Biden won an election? Or do you think that's fake? And the Jan 6th Committee news is very positive for our country.

The mass shooting event unfortunately happened today during a July 4th parade in IL.

As a result, there is probably going to be additional security at any evening 7/4 events, esp. as the suspect is not in custody and still at large.

There doesn't seem to be a known motive for it yet, but 6 people were killed and dozens injured.

In fact, given the fact that copycats are a thing, there probably will be additional security at 7/4 events around the country. This is probably something people should know.

Regardless of whether it is "positive" for our country or not.

I wasn't telling anybody to change or cancel their plans, just pointing out something to be aware of.

I'm sure there will be a heavy police presence.

You know, when I did my cruise, and we stopped in Cartagena, Columbia. It also had a heavy police presence, with all the cops holding AK-47's.

I guess that's what our future in America will be like.

I don't doubt you could out-party me. Most people could. I don't enjoy parties. I'm not particularly fond of small get-togethers.

Being able to out party someone else isn't a worthwhile claim to fame.

Don't you get it? The people who founded the USA wanted any whacko in the country to be able to overthrow the government any time he felt like it, using any hardware he could come by, including military grade weapons, intercontinental missiles, and thermonuclear bombs. A lot of very influential, wealthy, upstanding, white, Americans say so and some of then even teach at universities, so it has to be true.

When 19 year olds who think life has passed them by decide to take out a whole town, and then proceed to amass arsenals and blow holes in trees out in the woods learning to use them, well, freedom isn't free, you know.

I wish I was out celebrating this great country, but between the public denial of covid, and the whackos being left to solve mental health problems by killing strangers, and the Supreme Court encouraging the insertion of coat hangers, there doesn't seem to be as much to celebrate this year.

I walked in our city's 4th of July Parade this morning with our Democratic Club. This year we were joined by a small group of young people carrying the LGBT Pride Flag. During the parade one guy started yelling "Let's Go Brandon" and one of our members responded with "Let's Go Darwin" which caused the first guy to repeat "Let's Go Brandon" at which point I shouted at him "You must be an honor graduate of Trump University" which silenced him immediately and you could tell from his body language I got the best of him.

Overall, our club was greeted with loud applause and cheers. There were some boos thrown at us but we just wished them a Happy 4th of July and that ended the boos.

Positive stories happen whenever normal people overturn white conservatism.

You want patriotic displays of American flagwaving? We got your flags. Difference is, our own fellow citizens like you vote to suppress us. We do not vote or made laws/public policies to suppress you, and never have.

These little kids were risking their lives, marching under the American flag to defeat the white-conservative laws that oppressed them. They're the same age as you, yet you never had to march for basic human and civil rights, as they did.

Your people murdered our pacifists.

50+ years after this picture, you're still engaged in voter suppression and repressing the one solid, longstanding voting bloc that stands between you and more race-totalitarianism. I'm very happy to be part of that voting bloc.

You guys murdered us over it.

That's cool, Number6!

I went to SF Pride for the first time in literally decades, because I have an aversion to crowds and next to NYC, ours is the most symbolic of them all, so it's crowded AF.

I did go because I was tech on a float in it, so was working. But that was not the only reason I went. First time in 3 years that there has been Pride here, and EVERYBODY was out for it.

Glad you went with the LGBT contingent. I am getting the sense that a lot of non-LGBTQ people are marching more and more with us because we're at the point in this country where more and more people are less concerned about being associated with LGBTQs. 10 years ago, it was not like this, and certainly not 20 and 30 years ago, and beyond.

Glad you had a good time - for myself last week, I'd forgotten just how fun Pride can be.

I don't know any adults who brag about how hard they can party. Maybe back in highschool or early college.

Oh make no mistake, this thread is quite fun.

Here's more positive things about this country, since you inquired.

Nothing, not one single solitary thing positive in this country has come from conservative whites. Nothing.

Anything "positive" in the US has come from us overthrowing your authoritiarian rule.

Your culture uses the government to destroy other cultures. Then you guys turn around and call everyone else "dependent on the gubbamint."

The first two Pride parades I saw were by accident. The first was in England when I took two friends to London and when we came out of the Underground we heard shouting and whistles and drums and were surprised to see it was a Pride parade. We stay for about 15 minutes and watched it. The second time I was in Las Vegas in the downtown area. I was going back to my hotel after seeing a movie that night and as I came to S. Las Vegas Blvd there was a Pride parade so I stayed and watched it. The third time I was registering voters at the Pride Parade in Balboa Park in San Diego. Pride parades are definitely more entertaining that other parades.

I'd say glenn has a sense of humor but we both know that's not true. I think if we all chipped in we could order him a sense of humor from Amazon but due to supply chain problems in China it would be on indefinite backorder.
