Interesting story of racism. The Wyoming coach was hired by the Packers in 72 in player personnel.
Which might explain why the Packers had such a poor decade.
Anyway an interesting read.

No we aren't which is not to say there isn't racism in our country. Especially 50 years ago.
There is much more opportunity than racism in our country. But for some reason liberals refuse to believe that fact.

Re: Bkack 14
Oh, so it's fine to be "not as racist as we were 50 years ago".
Re: Bkack 14
We are not a racist country we are a country with racists.
How much better would it be for African Americans especially young African Americans if they were told and reminded about all the opportunities they have. As much as they are reminded of the racism.

Re: Bkack 14
Yeah, tell them that as they have a gun to their head because they're stopped for speeding.
Maybe instead of whitesplaining to them how great they have it, maybe if you listened to what they go through on a daily basis, you'd understand their issues.
Re: Bkack 14
No the 27.5 pct of Africa Americans with a bachelor's degree or better.

Wonder why Tim Scott's degrees didn't keep him from getting stopped by Police 18 times? Heck, being a SENATOR hasn't even kept him for getting stopped for "Driving While Black".Glennfs wrote: ↑Mon Jun 19, 2023 3:16 pm No the 27.5 pct of Africa Americans with a bachelor's degree or better.

Re: Bkack 14
Why don't liberals ever praise our country. Tim Scott became a US Senator. His brother a Comand Sgt Major.
There are successful African Americans everywhere. Maybe not rich or famous. But, people who rose from nothing to become solid middle class.
People who send their kids to college.
Where in the history of our earth have people of African decent ever had more opportunity than in today's United States.
Why can't any liberal here say ours is a great country.

Nice deflection. No, not really, it was pretty fucking childish.Glennfs wrote: ↑Mon Jun 19, 2023 6:40 pm Why don't liberals ever praise our country. Tim Scott became a US Senator. His brother a Comand Sgt Major.

Why can’t SENATOR Scott drive his car without getting pulled over?
Re: Bkack 14
If our country were racist then 28pct of African Americans over 25 would not have a college degree.

Re: Bkack 14
So you are saying that the only way African Americans can get into college is with affirmative action.
" I am a socialist " Bernie Sanders
Re: Bkack 14
No, I'm saying that the numbers are as good as they are BECAUSE of Affirmative Action, and if the Supreme Court knocks down affirmative action, those enrollment numbers will go down.
And you support that, am I correct?
Re: Bkack 14
No I don't. I believe that African Americans are my equal and do not need any special rules to be able to compete against white people.
" I am a socialist " Bernie Sanders
Re: Bkack 14
Tell that to George Floyd. Let's be clear - blacks ARE equal to whites, but they aren't treated that way.
You'd like it if Harvard went back to the days of zero blacks, on rich privileged white kids.
Re: Bkack 14
Comparing private schools especially Ivy League Schools are not really relevant to this discussion.
The real relevance is in land grant colleges.

Re: Bkack 14
Affirmative action was not the full solution. The class/race system that was successfully challenged in the 1960s was restored by the Republicans in the 1980s, and now we're starting to see the generational effects. Maybe you like having an Establishment like the one that grants top management jobs in The City of London to British privileged upper class twits, but this is the USA and we fought a revolution over that kind of thing in the late 1700s.
It would appear that we're still trying to live up to the rhetoric of the time.
I'm not going to get into issues regarding land grant colleges vs. completely private Ivy League top management factories. It's way deeper than that. We've finally noticed that standardized admission tests have a built in discrimination due to inequality built into child raising in this country. Now the big thing is to get rid of them, but that's not going to help either. The problem is completely about obsolete theories of racial/ genetic/ gender superiority that disregard the effects of social class on education and hiring. "Passing a law" is only a partial solution when one influential class continues to favor inequality as a means of perpetuating its dominance.

It was a good and needed idea 60 years ago. In today's world the children go to the same schools, sit in the same classes. Have the same teachers and books.ZoWie wrote: ↑Tue Jun 20, 2023 11:05 am Affirmative action was not the full solution. There is no reason to give one child a preference over another child.

Re: Bkack 14
It’s not about the same school, although schools in South Carolina are still QUITE segregated. It’s about the rich kids vs. everyone else. And it’s funny how you want to outlaw Affirmative Action, but are quiet about legacy admissions.
Re: Bkack 14
Schools in South Carolina are not segregated.
As for legacy you act as if every other student is receiving one. I am sure it happens but I am equally sure it is very few.

Re: Bkack 14
More students are legacy students in the big schools than are Affirmative Action.
And yes, South Carolina schools ARE still, to a great degree, segregated. https://www.greenvilleonline.com/story/ ... 843394001/
More than 50 years ago, Glenda Morrison-Fair was a student in segregated, all-black schools in Greenville. Today, she's a school board member in the district, the largest in a state where about one in seven schools remain dominated by minority or white student populations.
“Schools are segregated now,” Morrison-Fair said. "And it's not just in Greenville."
Across South Carolina, 171 schools, more than 14% in the state, are attended by student populations at least 90% minority or 90% white, review by The Greenville News has found.

I read the same link before you posted it. What it doesn't take into consideration, because the truth doesn't fit the author's agenda, is we have areas of our state that is heavily populated by African Americans.gounion wrote: ↑Tue Jun 20, 2023 6:31 pm More students are legacy students in the big schools than are Affirmative Action.

So.of course in an area where only black people live the schools would reflect that population.
The link is a great example of the author a liberal lying and telling the truth at the same time.
There are no segregated schools in South Carolina
