Happy 4th of July

Post by ProfX »

But let's remember it hasn't always meant the same thing to everybody.

Also, remember, not all living things enjoy fireworks as much as (some) humans do, and show some compassion for them. More dogs go missing on this day than any other day of the year.

No mass shootings yet. Nooz anxiously awaits the first incident they can pounce on. CNN meanwhile runs a story about how all suburban women love DeStupid. They of course found a couple who babbled on about their Fuhrer. NFD since I instantly changed the channel.

There are fireworks shows all over LA, but the weather might not cooperate. It's iffy. Climate change and the residue of La Nina. The weather people have already issued an air quality alert for smoke and spent powder for the next two days. While they were at it, they told anyone going to the beach (typically 1/4 of the population of LA) not to even think of going in the water. Something to do with the moon being nearer the Earth than usual.

I have a number of good webcams to watch all of NYC's truly awesome fireworks show which airs around dinner time in LA, but weather there is even more iffy this year. Thunderstorms are forecast. Climate change and El Nino.

Not a exactly a primo 4th of July for the ages..................

Thank goodness those days are over and that today in our great nation we all have the opportunity to achieve and prosper according to our individual merit

I'm just relaxing today for a change on the 4th of July. Normally, I'd be marching with our local Democratic Club in our city's parade but after marching with them for about 16 years I'll but they have enough people for that. Instead, I'll be washing my car and then I'll finish reading a book.

I saw on DU this post and I liked what Erma Bombeck said about how we celebrate America's Independence Day.

"You have to love a nation that celebrates its independence every July 4, not with a parade of guns, tanks, and soldiers who file by the White House in a show of strength and muscle, but with family picnics where kids throw Frisbees, the potato salad gets iffy, and the flies die from happiness."

Or gets access to higher education because your family is famous while more deserving POC are turned away.
I sigh in your general direction.

Ditto, my freightliner recently went to that great junkyard in the sky. It's taking about 3 weeks to aquire another one.
Been home about 2 weeks of that time. Between poker, Uber driving and my wife working me like a rented mule I am exhausted.
Kids are off with their kids had my chores done today by 1030 and my ass is about to take root to the lazy boy.
Really nice having a day doing nothing.
