Bay Area sportscaster resigns after allegedly stealing Warriors employee's jacket

Former San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Mike Shumann resigned from the KGO-TV sportscasting gig he has held for almost a quarter-century after allegedly stealing a jacket belonging to Golden State Warriors director of team security Ralph Walker, the Bay Area TV station announced over the weekend.

During Golden State’s first-round series against the San Antonio Spurs late last month, The Athletic reported that Shumann allegedly walked off with the jacket after a practice at the AT&T Center. Walker also serves as Warriors star Stephen Curry’s personal bodyguard. Video later emerged of the incident

Sen. Lena Taylor bullied her staff, report finds, prompting top Dem to remove her from budget committee

MADISON - State Sen. Lena Taylor bullied her staff and retaliated against one employee for using family and medical leave, Senate human resources investigators have found — a conclusion that cost the Milwaukee Democrat a spot on the Legislature's budget committee.

The Milwaukee Democrat's removal from the powerful Joint Finance Committee comes as Taylor is embroiled in controversy over using a racial insult at a Milwaukee bank.

Spotify Removes R. Kelly Music From Its Playlists As Part of New Hate Content & Hateful Conduct Policy: Exclusive - Billboard

Quote:
Beginning today (May 10), Spotify users will no longer be able to find R. Kelly's music on any of the streaming service's editorial or algorithmic playlists. Under the terms of a new public hate content and hateful conduct policy Spotify is putting into effect, the company will no longer promote the R&B singer's music in any way, removing his songs from flagship playlists like RapCaviar, Discover Weekly or New Music Friday, for example, as well as its other genre- or mood-based playlists.

"We are removing R. Kelly’s music from all Spotify owned and operated playlists and algorithmic recommendations such as Discover Weekly," Spotify told Billboard in a statement. "His music will still be available on the service, but Spotify will not actively promote it. We don’t censor content because of an artist’s or creator’s behavior, but we want our editorial decisions -- what we choose to program -- to reflect our values. When an artist or creator does something that is especially harmful or hateful, it may affect the ways we work with or support that artist or creator."

Over the past several years, Kelly has been accused by multiple women of sexual violence, coercion and running a "sex cult," including two additional women who came forward to Buzzfeed this week. Though he has never been convicted of a crime, he has come under increasing scrutiny over the past several weeks, particularly with the launch of the #MuteRKelly movement at the end of April. Kelly has vociferously defended himself, saying those accusing him are an “attempt to distort my character and to destroy my legacy." And while RCA Records has thus far not dropped Kelly from his recording contract, Spotify has distanced itself from promoting his music.

Net neutrality to die on June 11, as Ajit Pai blasts “special interests”

The repeal of net neutrality rules will finally take effect on June 11, six months after the Federal Communications Commission voted to eliminate the rules that prohibit Internet service providers from blocking and throttling lawful Internet traffic.

The repeal will get rid of "unnecessary and harmful Internet regulations," and help spur investment in 5G and other broadband networks, FCC Chairman Ajit Pai said in a statement announcing the effective date.

Giuliani resigns from law firm due to 'pressing demands' of Mueller probe

Rudy Giuliani is leaving his job at a powerhouse law firm, citing the "pressing demands" of special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Russia's role in the 2016 presidential election.

Giuliani took a temporary leave of absence from the firm Greenberg Traurig when he joined President Trump's legal team last month. But in a statement on Thursday, the former New York City mayor said he intended to permanently resign from the firm.

Jay-Z & Eminem Drop The Legal Mic On Weinstein Company Over Unpaid Deals

It’s about to be a bit of a hard-knock life for ailing The Weinstein Company, with Jay-Z and Eminem now going after the once muscular outlet. In filings late last week in TWC’s bankruptcy proceedings, the hip-hop superstars claim they are owed around $800,000 plus some of the rights for projects they had with the company.

“The Music Parties respectfully request that the Court order that the Debtors cannot transfer rights to the Music Party Repertoire unless the Debtors assume and assign the Agreement and pay the cure amounts, or the Successful Bidder includes the License Fees and Approved Expenses as Assumed Liabilities and pays them at closing,” says the filing (read it here) from the 8 Mile star, his Shady Records and Interscope Records regarding songs used in 2015’s film Southpaw.

Philippine Supreme Court removes Duterte 'enemy' judge

MANILA (Reuters) - The Philippine Supreme Court voted on Friday to remove its top judge, whom President Rodrigo Duterte called an “enemy” for voting against controversial government proposals, citing violations in the way she was appointed.

One opposition party said the ouster of Maria Lourdes Sereno, the country’s first woman chief justice, removed a shield against abuse of power in government and left behind a “puppet Supreme Court”.

Former Baltimore Police sergeant who ran corrupt Gun Trace Task Force sentenced to 15 years in prison

A federal judge handed down a 15-year sentence Friday to a former Baltimore police sergeant who once ran the department’s corrupt Gun Trace Task Force, saying his participation in robberies using the authority of the badge emboldened members of the squad.

Thomas Allers, 49, previously pleaded guilty to nine robberies carried out while on duty between 2014 and 2016. He was the first of eight officers convicted in the case to be sentenced.

Man arrested for sending death threats to NBA Commissioner Adam Silver

A man from New York was recently arrested by police after being charged with aggravated harassment for allegedly sending a death threat to NBA President Adam Silver in July of 2017, as per Ben Feurherd of the New York Post.

David Pyant, a 27-year-old originating from South America, allegedly sent an email to Silver threatening to kill him using his gun. Although the reason behind his threat remain uncertain, police sources confirmed that Pyant previously served time behind bars for a robbery rap and currently has a total of 13 priors.

Wall Street Is Moving, and It’s Reshaping New York

From the 86th floor of the Empire State Building, historian Ingo Walter can point to Wall Street’s past, present and future—first facing south, then north, now west.

More than three centuries after Dutch settlers built the financial center’s namesake barrier, Wall Street is more of a concept than a place. It’s been years since most big-name financial firms were housed in Manhattan’s Financial District. Deutsche Bank AG announced its departure this month. Starting in the 1970s, some migrated to Midtown. Now, many are on the move again, this time to Hudson Yards.

Aaron Schlossberg, a "lawyer" and avid Trump supporter, was booted out of the building his law office occupies after his racist rant against Spanish speaking workers at a Mexican restaurant went on-line. Security workers at the building also wanted him booted.
Quote:
“I’ll throw my shoes at him. We’re all hungry for him,” one security worker told The Post. “If it was up to me I wouldn’t let him in. We all want to bury him one way or another.”

BTW, Schlosserg claims and his website advertises him to be a member of the New York Bar Association but it appears the Bar says he's not a member.
