Boris Johnson, the UK Foreign Secretary, is resigning. He has often been called the UK's Donald Trump.

Boris Johnson tells PM she is suffocating Brexit 'dream'
https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-44770847

Awwwww. Poor widdle snowflake and mop top Boris. Can we get you a blankey?

Do not let the door hit you where the good lord split you, Boris.

BTW, May's coalition government may be headed to the bye thread as well ... we'll see.

Trump brings collapse everywhere he goes ... perhaps his trip to Britain will be met with the British government collapsing. As well as that awesome giant Baby Blimp.

Lawmakers override LePage veto, endorse sweeping medical marijuana reforms

Maine state lawmakers overturned a gubernatorial veto to pass a sweeping medical marijuana reform bill on Monday.

The Maine House voted 119-23 and the Maine Senate voted 25-8 to override a veto by Gov. Paul LePage and adopt legislation that will allow patients to use marijuana if a doctor deems it medically beneficial, grant six new medical dispensary licenses, permit caregivers to expand their business operations and give the state and municipalities more power to regulate them.

Judge boots Green Party from Montana ballot in boost to Tester

A Montana judge has ordered state elections officials to remove the Green Party from the November ballot, a boost to Sen. Jon Tester (D) in his bid for reelection.

Helena District Court Judge James Reynolds invalidated some of the signatures Green Party backers submitted to the secretary of state’s office, either because the signatures did not match those on file, because they did not match a registered voter or because of improper signature-gathering practices.

Top prosecutor on leave after offensive social media posts

A top prosecutor in California was placed on paid administrative leave after allegedly making disparaging and racially-charged social media posts, a spokesman for the San Bernardino County District Attorney's office said on Monday.

Deputy District Attorney Michael Selyem, the lead prosecutor in the San Bernardino County District Attorney's Office gang unit, is accused of making offensive posts on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter referencing Rep. Maxine Waters, Michelle Obama and Mexican immigrants, according to the San Bernardino Sun. The paper provided screen shots of some of the posts, which were made by accounts that have since been deleted.

I remember when the Green party in Montana threatened to overtake the Democratic party. They grew quickly, and fell on their face just as quickly. As I recall they either had or came close to having a majority on the Missoula city council. It was disastrous, but we got some new park benches, trees in pots along a street. A little major/highway though town rebuild project which should have taken six months became a ten year mess and cost at least four times as much, maybe ten times as much. In terms of impact on the town it cost a hundred times as much.

They were idiots.

Video captures gun falling from judge’s jacket at courthouse. Now he’s charged.

A veteran Cook County judge was hit with a misdemeanor gun charge after sheriff’s deputies saw him drop a pistol last week in the lobby of the county’s main criminal courthouse, authorities said.

Judge Joseph Claps, who has presided over felony criminal cases at the Leighton Criminal Court Building, was reassigned last week to “nonjudicial duties” pending a meeting Wednesday of the circuit court’s executive committee, a spokesman for Chief Judge Timothy Evans’ office said.

Scuttlebutt is that in his rant about NFL ownership he referred to "niggers taking a knee."

And glen is trying to tell us how it's a different country from 100 years ago. IMHO with the majority of white christian Americans, it's the same country it was in 1850.

Another arrogant prick. Good riddance. Never had their pizza, never will.

Ugly incident...epitomizes white christian trumpers all across the fruited plain.

PS - these Cook County Forest Preserve District "officers" are basically security guards who's job it is to make sure drunk assholes aren't burning down the picnic shelters and the outhouses at the forest preserve. They are notorious for not doing too well with anything more complicated than that. But only a goddamn bigot would watch something like this going down and not step in. The asshole agreed with the drunk and he gets to keep his fucking job? Yikes.

Exxon quits ALEC

Oil giant ExxonMobil will not be renewing its membership to the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC), a conservative, corporate-backed lobbying organization known for giving lawmakers template legislation. ALEC also has a long history of pushing laws that would undermine environmental protections and clean energy.

It’s unclear whether climate change was the issue that pushed Exxon to leave ALEC. However, its decision to quit the council reportedly comes after a public spat over climate change policy last December.

From the article, "The move by Exxon to not renew its membership — which expired in June — comes after years of climate science denial and misinformation by the company. In the past couple of years, however, the company has been publicly shifting its stance on climate change through statements defending the Paris climate agreement and the need for a carbon tax."

I've posted about this before. Exxon has a carbon sequestration project in the advanced pilot program stage of development and has invested a lot of money toward that goal.

In the past they did engage in climate science denial. I think it was a stalling tactic because they weren't at the stage to roll out their carbon sequestration program yet and they worried that adverse legislation which could be enacted which would come at an inconvenient time, and go in an inconvenient direction for their plans.

But now the progress on their program has proven viable and they're set to go into the development of a major full scale sequestration project which can make a difference.

Trump got elected and he's been a royal pain in the ass insofar as their goals are concerned. He's the guiding the Lemmings toward the cliff overlooking the sea.

We're long past the stage where reducing our carbon emissions a bit will do. I reduce it as much as I can, but still it is not enough. We were past that stage before the issue came into the public eye 20 years ago.

Shell, BP, and Conoco with Kinder Morgan doing the project management are all major partners with Exxon on this project as well.

You know, the one thing I can say about the current revival of anti-Semitism, is we've finally moved beyond dog whistles and code words.

At least folks like Msr. Stolper are rather direct and clear over what they want ...
