Home Depot Co-Founder Tells Democrats to ‘Use Your Stupid Brains’: ‘You Don’t Have Any Brains

Following the passage of the GOP tax reform bill, a number of corporations have announced bonuses and wage increases for its employees, citing the tax cuts as the main reason. One company that handed out one-time bonuses was Home Depot. And the co-founder had some strong words for Democrats who have criticized these bonuses as “crumbs” and dismissed them as PR moves.

Yeah, now, he was probably going to retire in March, anyway.

So, why is he retiring a few months early. As always, Trump claims innocence, but a campaign of harassment against McCabe, on and off twitter, of course, had nothing to do with it.

As for voter fraud -- boy, Republicans sure seem determined to prove the "smelt it dealt it" theorem. They constantly complain about it happening massively, yet when the few rare perps are caught, they usually turn out to be ... Republicans.

Re: corporations citing tax cuts. That is pure bullshit. They could have given bonuses or wage increases if they so chose. They chose not to do so. The tax cuts crap is merely a smoke screen.

And they know it.

And the rants included typical petty Trump petulant teenage misogynist asshole comments about McCabe's wife. But glen and Joe can't find a reason for the asshole to be gone unless Mueller finds some criminal behavior. We don't want to be hasty now.

Sure, he's an asshole, but he's your asshole...eh Joe?

So ... if you'll recall, Wray earlier refused to fire McCabe despite Trump's demands. But now:

(The story is short and all the details are relevant and impossible to snip. All credit to Shimon Prokupecz, Pamela Brown and Eli Watkins, CNN)

Wray hints to FBI staff that coming IG report played role in McCabe departure
https://www.cnn.com/2018/01/29/politics ... index.html

Washington (CNN)FBI Director Chris Wray hinted to FBI staff in an all-employee email that a government watchdog investigation played a role in FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe's departure Monday, sources who have seen the memo told CNN.

Wray said in the message he could not comment on the coming inspector general report about the FBI's conduct during the 2016 election and defended himself as not being swayed by politics.
A source familiar with the matter told CNN that Wray had informed McCabe he is bringing in his own team, which McCabe would not be a part of, and that it was McCabe's decision whether to stay at the FBI or leave.

The coming inspector general report into the handling of the 2016 Hillary Clinton email investigation has taken on increased scrutiny as President Donald Trump and his allies have railed against FBI officials like McCabe for months over the agency's handling of sensitive political matters and what they argue is political bias.

Last week, the Justice Department's inspector general told Congress it was able to recover a trove of missing text messages exchanged between two FBI employees, Peter Strzok and Lisa Page, who have been accused of demonstrating anti-Trump bias in the leadup to the general election.

Earlier Monday, The New York Times reported that McCabe's sudden decision to step down came after he told friends he felt pressure to do so from Wray.

The Times, citing one official close to McCabe, said the deputy director's decision to leave before his anticipated retirement in March came after Wray discussed the looming inspector general report and suggested demoting McCabe from the number two post at the bureau.

Rather than accept the demotion, the source told the Times, McCabe informed colleagues he would leave the bureau Monday.

[snip][end]

So, Wray wouldn't fire him, but McCabe says he was pressured by him to leave. Wray says no, but McCabe made the decision of his own accord because of the upcoming IG report.

What's in it? The details I've seen up until this point don't show any wrongful acts. There's nothing wrong with your wife running for Virginia State Senate, even if (horrors) you helped her campaign and she (horrors) took PAC money. What else could be in that dreaded IG report?

This is a mystery wrapped in a riddle, swaddled in an enigma.

Maybe I'm oversimplifying...it goes along with the ADD. But anyway...I don't see it as a mystery at all. It's what happens when an electorate half full of assholes puts a despotic demagogue in the top job, and there's a majority of snakes in the legislative branch who will look the other way (like all the good little nazis in 1933 Germany), in anticipation of some personal benefit.

What this 5 cent cigar needs is a good country.

DNC chief executive Jess O'Connell is stepping down 10 months before midterm elections

Jess O'Connell, the chief executive of the Democratic National Committee, is stepping down after less than a year on the job, she told DNC staff in an email on Monday night. O'Connell joined the DNC in May, leaving her position as head of Emily's List, and "when Jess walked in the door, the Democratic Party was broken," DNC Chairman Tom Perez said in the email, thanking O'Connell for helping begin the needed repairs.

Cue sad trombone:

Republicans give up on Obamacare repeal - Politico

Quote:
Republicans' decision to abstain from another attempt at gutting Barack Obama’s health law — at least this year — goes back on a pledge the party has made to voters since 2010. And it underscores how Republicans overpromised in their ability to reform the nation’s health care and never fully recognized how divided the party is over key Obamacare planks like protecting pre-existing conditions and preserving the law’s Medicaid expansion.

FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe resigns

Or did he?

According to Trump Jr., who I believe is related to someone in the gov't, he was fired, supposedly because of stuff in "the memo".

From his twitter-shitter:

Donald Trump Jr.

@DonaldJTrumpJr
It was good enough to fire McCabe, no one argues its factually inaccurate, but now days later they want to protect the names of those involved in a scandal that was big enough to fire a senior official a month before retirement? They don’t deserve a pass on that!

So, he didn't retire early or resigned ... he was fired. (For some reason in some memo. Something.)

Iowa Removes Wynn Name From Institute - Inside Higher Ed

Quote:
The University of Iowa announced Wednesday that it is removing the name of Stephen Wynn, the casino mogul with prominent Republican Party ties, from a vision institute. “The University of Iowa is committed to ending sexual violence and sexual misconduct and ensuring survivors know they are believed, supported, and assisted. It is incongruous with the university’s values to maintain the Wynn name on our program and building,” said a statement from President Bruce Harreld.

In 2013, Wynn pledged $25 million to the Institute for Vision Research, and he has given $20 million of that pledge. While the institute was named for him after the pledge, the university statement said that "the naming was in recognition of the gift, and not a condition of the gift."

The situation at Newsweek is very murky. Didn't the magazine just sell to some right wing conglomerate? The situation with the editors predates the sale, though, and I don't know much. It seems as if no one does.

It's pretty bad when Jamaica, one of the worst offenders re: cultural and legalized homophobia in this hemisphere, doesn't even want you.

Nice going.
