Former Boston high school dean gets 26 years for shooting student

BOSTON — Shaun Harrison was a Boston high school dean and anti-violence advocate known by students as “Rev” for his pastor-like demeanor. But the pious facade hid a dark double life.

He boasted to students of his gang ties, drugs and guns. He recruited one of them, a 17-year-old student from a broken home, to deal marijuana in school, authorities said.

Justus Sheffield's agent leaving the industry over $33,000: 'Tired of swimming in a sewer'

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — It was the baseball draft that was supposed to rejuvenate veteran agent David Sloan’s career, representing a premium high-school pitcher who’s a top prospect today, only to wind up taking on costly legal fees, ongoing court battles, and leading him right out of the business.

Sloan, a baseball agent since 1974, says he is leaving the industry, enraged at New York Yankees top prospect Justus Sheffield, furious at the state of Tennessee, and exasperated with the Major League Baseball Players Association.

Man's Racist Tirade Outside Brooklyn Bar Goes Viral, Gets Him Fired: Report

A man went on a tirade filled with racial slurs when he became angry at a bouncer outside a music venue in Brooklyn last weekend, and cellphone video capturing his rant quickly went viral and led to his firing, according to reports.

The video, taken by witness Rahir Cozart, shows a white man, identified by The New York Post as 29-year-old real estate agent Chris Giardina, screaming at a black man near The House of Yes in Bushwick early Friday morning. Giardina, who appears to be intoxicated, claimed the bouncer hit him after he exited the wrong door while leaving the venue, according to The Post.

Billionaire conservative donor David Koch to retire from Koch Industries, influential political network

Billionaire industrialist, donor and political activist David Koch will retire from his roles at Koch Industries and other Koch-affiliated groups due to health reasons, according to an internal memo obtained by CNBC on Tuesday.

Koch, 78, and his older brother, Charles, are the key drivers behind a juggernaut political network that has often favored conservative and libertarian politicians and policies, such as tax cuts. His political legacy includes activism in support of free-market initiatives such as eliminating trade barriers between countries and easing regulations on industry.

PINEDALE, Wyo. (Reuters) - The superintendent of Yellowstone National Park said on Thursday he was being forced from his post after disagreeing with the Trump administration over management of the park’s famed bison herd.

John Lasseter, creative chief at Pixar and Disney, to leave at end of year

John Lasseter, the architect of a creative turnaround at Disney’s animation studios, will leave the company at the end of the year, the media company said Friday, several months after the longtime artistic leader of its Pixar division acknowledged “missteps” with fellow employees.

Lasseter, the innovative force behind lauded movies like “Coco” and “Frozen,” announced he would take a six-month sabbatical from his job as chief creative officer of the Disney and Pixar studios in a November memo to employees. In the memo, he acknowledged making some colleagues “feel disrespected or uncomfortable.”

It's going to be interesting reconciling the classic perception of how you make it in "Hollywood" with the changed tolerance for inappropriate advances.

PSA: Yahoo Messenger is shutting down next month

Verizon subsidiary Oath has announced that Yahoo Messenger is officially shutting down next month. Once one of the most popular and most innovative messaging service, Yahoo Messenger has waned in popularity in recent years…

Oath says that Yahoo Messenger is shutting down on July 17th. The company is redirecting users to its new group messaging application, Squirrel. Interestingly, Squirrel is still in private beta, and it’s unclear if the service will open up to the public before Yahoo Messenger’s shutdown next month.

Ex-NY state senate leader, son fail to end corruption case

NEW YORK (Reuters) - A federal judge let stand a corruption indictment against former New York State Senate majority leader Dean Skelos and his son Adam, and refused to move next week’s retrial out of state despite their claim it would be too hard to find an impartial jury.

In a decision made public on Monday, U.S. District Judge Kimba Wood in Manhattan rejected claims that a recent U.S. Supreme Court decision narrowing the definition of corruption tainted the government’s extortion and bribery case.

Longtime White House communications staffer Steven Cheung departs

Special assistant to President Trump and director of rapid response Steven Cheung has departed the White House communications team, CBS News confirmed Monday.

Cheung's departure was not described as a firing, but rather something the staffer had been eyeing for a while. He was one of the few remaining aides who had survived Mr. Trump's transition from the campaign trail to the White House.

Racist Missouri Waitress Fired After 'N——r Hunting' Video - Riverfront Times

Quote:
Update: The U.S. Air Force is investigating after people identified the woman as a new enlistee. In a statement, a spokeswoman said, "We have been made aware of a video online of an alleged reserve Airman who made racially insensitive comments. We are looking into the matter and we appreciate this being brought to our attention."

The full statement is posted at the bottom of the story.

Guess she'll be hunting for a new job.

A Jefferson County woman filmed in one of the most racist, redneck Missourah scenes imaginable was fired from her south county waitressing gig today after the video went viral.

In the clip, twenty-year-old Tabitha "Tabbie" Duncan, Michelob Ultra in hand, rides atop a truck as it rambles down a dirt road in the dark. It's pretty standard small-town idiocy, until a mostly off-camera narrator starts in with some jarring racism.

Narrator: "So we going n****r hunting today or what?"

Another idiot in a baseball cap: "We're going n****r hunting."

Narrator: "We're fucking n****r hunting right now, uh?

And then Duncan chimes in: "You get them n****s."

Warning: the following video contains unedited sound clips of the same conversation. Listener discretion is advised.

Kkklassy.

Tabbie Duncan: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know - Heavy

Quote:
3. Duncan Recently Enlisted in the U.S. Air Force & She Has Worked at a St. Louis-Area Hospital

When asked on Facebook about the video, a representative from the U.S. Air Force Recruiting page replied, “We have been made aware of a video online of an alleged reserve Airman who made racially insensitive comments. We are looking into the matter and we appreciate this being brought to our attention. The U.S. Air Force values diversity and inclusion; our Airmen come together to produce an incredible team that can accomplish any mission and overcome any challenge. We believe that our greatest asset is our diverse, innovative and technically-savvy workforce. Our Airmen come from all backgrounds and remarks such as these do not fall in line with our culture. We take incidents like this very seriously and action will be taken upon further investigation as necessary.”

Senior Justice Department attorney quits after Sessions rescinds defense of Obamacare

A senior attorney at the Justice Department has resigned in response to the agency's decision last week not to defend the Affordable Care Act in court because it believes the individual mandate provision is unconstitutional, the Washington Post reports, citing sources familiar with the matter.

The details: Joel McElvain, who reportedly has been working at the Justice Department for more than 20 years, tendered his resignation on Friday — the day Attorney General Jeff Sessions informed congressional lawmakers about his decision on Obamacare. The U.S. Supreme Court upheld the provision in 2012, and the Trump administration's move has roll back years of legal work McElvain carried out on this issue. The individual mandate requires most people to buy insurance or pay a tax penalty.

Sarah Sanders, Raj Shah planning to depart the White House

Two of the most visible members of the Trump administration are planning their departures, the latest sign of upheaval in a White House marked by turmoil.

Press secretary Sarah Sanders and principal deputy press secretary Raj Shah are both heading for the exits, according to sources inside the White House and close to the administration. Sanders, who has become a confidante of President Trump since the departure of former communications director Hope Hicks, has told friends that she plans to leave the administration at the end of the year.

The more religious the person the more likely they hate others

Not all religious do this but most. Not just Christians either. There are good Christians too, for sure.
