UPDATE: Verizon, AT&T to end location data sales to brokers

WASHINGTON (AP) — Verizon and AT&T have pledged to stop providing information on phone owners' locations to data brokers, stepping back from a business practice that has drawn criticism for endangering privacy.

The data has apparently allowed outside companies to pinpoint the location of wireless devices without their owners' knowledge or consent. Verizon said that about 75 companies have been obtaining its customer data from two little-known California-based brokers that Verizon supplies directly — LocationSmart and Zumigo

Modern Family Co-Creator Steve Levitan Says He Will Stop Working With Fox in the Future

Steve Levitan, co-creator of Modern Family, which is produced by 20th Century Fox TV, wants to make it clear that he does not support another arm of Fox’s business. On Twitter, Levitan said he was “disgusted to work at a company that has anything whatsoever to do with” Fox News, quote-tweeting a description of Fox News host Laura Ingraham’s defense of Trump’s child detention centers as “summer camps” or “boarding schools.” “This bullshit is the opposite of what Modern Family stands for,” he added.

Diesel is dirtier, black soot, but a person can breath more of the exhaust than a gas engine produces and not die. The CO level is much reduced over a gas engine.

Sources: Citing 'corruption' and 'fraud,' MLB bans transactions with Mexican League

Major League Baseball banned teams from signing players affiliated with the Mexican League on Tuesday, alleging that “corruption” and “fraud” have plagued its transactions with the league and that it wants “a fair, organized and transparent system” before resuming its relationship, sources familiar with the policy told Yahoo Sports.

In a letter sent to teams Tuesday and obtained by Yahoo Sports, MLB said it wants to end the process of teams in the Liga Mexicana de Beisbol (LMB) directly negotiating the transfer of players to MLB organizations. Instead, it prefers a system similar to those MLB has with Japanese and Korean leagues, in which players themselves are allowed to negotiate a contract with any of the 30 major league teams and the foreign team that controls his rights receives a fee — typically in the 25 percent range of the deal’s value.

Corey Lewandowski has been dropped by a speaker's bureau meaning they won't setup speaking engagements for him because of his comments concerning a 10-year old girl with Down's syndrome who was put in one of Trump's infamous children's cages.

Quote:
Leading Authorities, Inc., one of Washington DC's top speakers bureaus, severed ties with Lewandowski on Wednesday, a source familiar with the matter said. His name no longer appears on the bureau's website.

Speakers bureaus like LAI handle speaking gigs for notable political and media personalities, which can be a lucrative business. Speakers can net five- or even six-figure checks for one engagement.

Corey Lewandowski, please know how deeply from the bottom of my heart I feel for you when I say
"WOMP, WOMP."

What Corey deserves and what can be done legally and peacefully are two different things.

I hope every possible financial and social harm that can come to him, legally, does.

EX-NATO CHIEF DENIED ENTRY INTO UNITED STATES BECAUSE HE WENT TO IRAN

Javier Solana, the former secretary-general of NATO, was refused a visa to enter the United States because he visited Iran.

Spanish newspaper El Pais reported that the former Spanish foreign minister was due to give a speech at the Brookings Institution, a Washington think tank. But an electronic authorization system rejected a U.S. visa for Solana because of recent trips he'd taken to the Islamic republic, which is among seven countries blacklisted by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

Saying goodbye to the old Essex Street Market

Down on the corner of Essex and Delancey streets, a vibrant slice of old New York remains, even as the towers of a new city rise around it. The Essex Street Market has stood here, solid and implacable, for 78 years, even as the buildings surrounding it have been dismantled by failed urban renewal schemes, and, more recently, have been reshaped by gentrification and new development.

But in New York City, where historic buildings are now being demolished one after the other, the Essex Street Market will soon become another victim of the wrecking ball. This October, all 28 of its vendors will be uprooted, with most relocating into a shiny new marketplace that will be located in the ground floor of a nearby tower inside the Essex Crossing megaproject. The old cinder block structure will be destroyed, taking with it a unique and colorful part of the Lower East Side.

AC Milan gets one year Europa League ban

MILAN — UEFA effectively banned AC Milan from European competition for one year on Wednesday for overspending on player transfers and wages in one of the toughest sentences handed down for breaching financial fair play regulations.

That means Milan will be excluded from next season's Europa League unless it successfully appeals to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Two Telemundo TV hosts suspended after making racist gestures during World Cup celebration

The intensity of the World Cup has the potential to lead to all kinds of offensive actions -- from players, fans or even broadcasters.

As South Korea wrapped up a stunning 2-0 upset over defending champion Germany, the hosts on Telemundo's morning show, Un Nuevo Dia, were celebrating the result -- since it helped Mexico advance to the knockout round.

Fox News regular Bruce Turkel quits over immigration coverage

Bruce Turkel, a Miami advertising executive who had been a frequent guest on Fox News, said in a sharply worded letter Wednesday that he will no longer appear on the network because of its coverage of immigration.

“Quite simply, the position Fox has taken on our government’s policy of separating children from their parents is too heinous for me to accept,” Turkel wrote in an open letter to Fox News.
