Cecily Wright resigns as Spokane County GOP chair, calls Allsup defense a ‘serious mistake’

A day after a video surfaced showing her defending a 22-year-old white nationalist, Cecily Wright resigned as chairwoman of the Spokane County Republican Party.

The announcement came late Wednesday in a post on the local GOP’s Facebook page. On Tuesday, Wright had come under fire for introducing James Allsup, a former president of the College Republicans chapter at Washington State University, during a July 11 meeting of the local conservative group Northwest Grassroots.

Urban Meyer, head football coach at The Ohio State University, placed on paid leave over domestic abuse scandal involving an assistant coach.

https://www.cnn.com/2018/08/01/us/urban ... index.html

The university has a policy that staff including athletic coach’s are obligated to report abuse. It is alleged that Meyer knew and said nothing about assistant coach Smith’s abuse of his wife.

Ai Weiwei Responds To Chinese Authorities Destroying His Beijing Studio

Chinese authorities are razing the Beijing studio of dissident artist Ai Weiwei. He said that demolition crews showed up without advance warning, and have begun the process of tearing down the studio.

Ai has been a longtime critic of the government, and on Saturday, he began posting videos to his Instagram feed of the studio's destruction. "Farewell," Ai wrote. "They started to demolish my studio 'Zuoyuo' in Beijing with no precaution."

Purdue University removes John Schnatter name from building, offers to return $8 million donation

Purdue University has dropped Papa John’s founder John Schnatter’s name from a building at the school and offered to return a multi-million dollar donation from the embattled pizza chain founder’s charity, according to a statement from the school.

Schnatter resigned as chairman of the board for Papa John’s in July after Forbes reported that he used the N-word during a May conference call. He now says stepping down was a "mistake." He had already been removed as CEO for comments made while discussing the national anthem protests in the NFL last year.

Go deeper: Big Tech's new push against Alex Jones and Infowars

YouTube has terminated Alex Jones' channel — just hours after Facebook removed four pages on its platform run by him and his controversial conservative site Infowars. Apple and Spotify have also removed Infowars content over the past week for violating their conduct policies.

The big picture: The rush of Big Tech action against Jones and his organization has occurred while he is embroiled in a defamation lawsuit brought against him by Sandy Hook parents — due to his repeated false claims that the elementary school shooting is a hoax — and as his brand of conspiracy theories hit the GOP mainstream last week.

PepsiCo CEO Indra Nooyi to step down

PepsiCo has announced that CEO Indra Nooyi will step down on October 3 after 12 years as chief executive, though she will remain as the company's chair into early 2019. Nooyi, the company's first female CEO, will be succeeded by PepsiCo's current president Ramon Laguarta.

Why it matters: Nooyi is one of Corporate America's most visible, outspoken female CEOs — and her departure is sure to highlight the lack of women occupying the top spot in boardrooms around the country.

That's funny! "Don't you know who I am? Donald Trump is a personal friend of mine!" That should earn him extra time in the drunk tank for having shitty friends.

D.C. Metro Drops Plans to Provide Separate Trains for White Supremacists Attending 'Unite the Right' Rally

Washington D.C.’s metro rail system chairman is walking back plans to provide white supremacists with separate trains to attend the so-called “Unite the Right” rally next weekend, the Washington Post reported.

Metro Board Chairman Jack Evans had previously told local news outlets that separate trains were being considered. “We’d like to keep the groups separate. We don’t want incidents on Metro,” Evans told News4 on Friday. “Maybe put all of one group on a train or a certain car on a train,” he said.

City passes proposal to remove Trump's star from Hollywood Walk of Fame - ABC New

Quote:
The city of West Hollywood approved a proposal to remove President Donald Trump's star from the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Monday, citing recent costly vandalism and recent demonstrations around the star.

West Hollywood’s five-member city council passed the measure unanimously on Monday evening, allowing it to move forward with a request to remove the star, which has been vandalized several times since Trump took office last year.

It now plans to send a formal letter to Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, the Los Angeles City Council and the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce for consideration. The Chamber of Commerce would have the final say in removing the star.

There are people with stars on the Walk of Fame who have awards from the Tonys, Emmys, Grammys, Oscars, sometimes all four. This guy has one for kicking people around on The Apprentice?

Foh...

Former DNC Chief Dacey Exits MWWPR

Amy Dacey, who was chief of the Democratic National Committee, is no longer executive VP-issues management /PA and managing director of MWWPR's Washington outpost.

She joined MWWPR in 2017 after being ousted at the DNC before the 2016 presidential race in the wake of the WikiLeaks scandal and allegations that the organization showed favoritism toward the Hillary Clinton campaign at the expense of her then-rival Bernie Sanders.

Manafort’s Former Accountant Fired From Firm After Witness Testimony

The firm that employed Paul Manafort’s former accountant, Cindy Laporta, has fired Laporta and launched an internal investigation into her conduct after she provided witness testimony in the case against Manafort last week, Bloomberg reported Tuesday.

In her testimony, Laporta told the court she knew that Manafort’s tax returns contained false information, but she filed them anyway, out of fear of legal retaliation from Manafort and his former business partner Rick Gates.

Pandora to Slash Nearly 400 Jobs

RAPAPORT... Pandora plans to lay off 397 employees after disappointing second-quarter results and a weakened outlook for the rest of the year.

While sales grew 4% in local currencies to $748.2 million (DKK 4.82 billion) for the quarter, the retailer lowered its revenue guidance for the year to an increase of 4% to 7%, from its previous forecast of 7% to 10%. It also expects lower profit margins, after that measure declined in the second quarter, it said Monday. The company’s stock price was down 21% at press time Tuesday.

NYC enacts first-of-its-kind cap on Uber, for-hire vehicles

It’s official: The New York City Council voted today to place a moratorium on the number of for-hire vehicles on city streets, as part of a package of bills intended to address the unbridled growth of ride-hailing services in the city.

“We’re going to regulate Uber, and we’re going to make history in New York,” council member Ruben Diaz Sr., who was chair of the council’s for-hire vehicles (FHV) committee, said before the vote took place.

Looks like Rub and Tug will not be made now that Johansson has been forced out. Another "victory?" for the left.

Maybe she can play Mrs. Obama in her next movie wearing blackface. You'd like that, wouldn't you?

This article is from July 18th, right around the same time of the controversy, and it doesn't say what you claim.

Don't you know who Dante "Tex" Gill is, yet?

By the way, glen, a lot has happened in a month. Since the Johanssen controversy and influenced by it, GLAAD has come up with two new initiatives, TRANSform Hollywood and 5050by2020.

You can read about them in this thread viewtopic.php?f=2&t=23995 . So this is not just a victory, it's even more than that, because measures to improve working conditions for trans entertainers and artists have a shot at making a real impact, due to this controversy.

You can also read what actual trans actors and entertainers have to say about the state of hiring and jobs in Hollywood in Variety's latest cover story.

Transgender Actors Roundtable: Laverne Cox, Chaz Bono and More on Hollywood Discrimination

As you might imagine, Rub & Tug and Johansson are mentioned a bit.

Lol he still doesn't know who Dante "Tex" Gill is. If he did, he'd have to take back this ridiculous idea that a movie about that person is meant to educate the ignorant masses about trans persons.

And yeah as long as the white straight gets the part, that's all white supremacists care about -- them getting the biggest and best of everything.
