Interesting that Rahm Emanuel didn't give a substantive reason, as opposed to "it's just time to move on."

--

The New Yorker thing with Bannon pissed a lot of people off. A LOT. The other speakers were dropping out. Subscribers were bailing. Most people who commented publicly said things along the line of "WTF?" They weren't happy campers. I must admit that I came the closest to throwing something that I have in many years.

They eventually canceled Bannon, but too late. Damage done, and now the righties can scream about free speech. Lose-lose on this one. It's really a major WWTT (What were they thinking?) and the excuses coming from the people in charge don't help much.

My first reaction was maybe this progressive thing is getting to some mainstream candidates, making it tough for them.

I hear there is some investigation about corruption that could involve Gillum, boy I sure hope that is bullshit and not real. We need that seat.

Collusion probe off limits in second Manafort trial, U.S. judge rules

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The federal judge overseeing the second trial of Paul Manafort, President Donald Trump’s one-time campaign chairman, ruled on Wednesday that a federal investigation of possible collusion between the campaign and Russia cannot be discussed during the trial.

The collusion investigation being led by U.S. Special Counsel Robert Mueller is “wholly irrelevant to the charges in this case,” Judge Amy Berman Jackson said during a pre-trial hearing in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.

So is this a sycophant traitor judge or a real judge? Is it correct the ruling or is it a sycophant protecting the Putin White House?

I guess I could look up the judge.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amy_Berman_Jackson

appointed by a real president, so probably she is protecting the rule of law here and doesnt want to taint the possibility of a decision either way...

Moonves said adieu over the weekend.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyl ... story.html

Quote:
With new reporting in hand, Farrow built on his July investigation in the New Yorker with a devastating follow-up Sunday.

A mere eight hours after it was published, CBS announced that Moonves was out.

And not only was he out, but — at least for now — without the obscene payout that, according to his contract, would have accompanied his being fired. Instead, his departure comes with a $20 million donation to organizations that fight sexual harassment and promote workplace equality. And the foot-dragging CBS board would be radically reshaped.

U.S. regulators reject Wells Fargo's plan to repay customers -- sources

U.S. regulators have rejected Wells Fargo & Co's plan to repay customers who were pushed into unnecessary auto insurance, telling the bank it must do more to ensure it has found and compensated every affected driver, three sources familiar with the matter told Reuters.

Wells Fargo gave regulators the plan in June, as required by a $1 billion settlement the bank reached with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) in April.

Tennis umpires reportedly mulling boycotting Serena Williams matches after US Open flap

The Serena Williams US Open controversy rages on. After Serena Williams lost in the final to Naomi Osaka on Saturday, all anyone could talk about was Williams' altercation with umpire Carlos Ramos that led to her being fined $17,000. Williams received warnings for receiving coaching and breaking a racket, before she was docked a game for calling Ramos a "thief."

In the fallout of the incident, the U.S. Tennis Association and Women's Tennis Association both came out in support of Williams. The USTA praised Williams for her conduct after the match, whereas WTA CEO Steve Simon said that "there should be no difference in the standards of tolerance provided to the emotions expressed by men vs. women."
