Philadelphia's Wing Bowl, a WIP radio tradition, is no more, the station announces

The Philadelphia Eagles have finally won a Super Bowl, which means the city's annual Wing Bowl event is no more.

WIP Radio's morning team of Angelo Cataldi and Al Morganti, who first came up with the concept of a indoor wing-eating contest on the Friday before the Super Bowl 26 years ago, announced that last February's event would be the last.

Pharrell Williams bars Donald Trump from playing his music at rallies

Pharrell Williams has ordered Donald Trump to stop playing his music at rallies, after his upbeat song Happy was played at a Trump event in Indiana just hours after a mass shooting at a Pittsburgh synagogue.

“Pharrell has not, and will not, grant you permission to publicly perform or otherwise broadcast or disseminate any of his music,” reads the letter from the R&B star’s lawyer Howard King.

Bezos Sets New Wealth Record, Losing $19.2 Billion Over Two Days

(Bloomberg) -- Jeff Bezos is still the world’s richest person, but he’s a lot closer to No. 2 Bill Gates than just a few months ago.

The Amazon.com Inc. founder lost $19.2 billion over the past two trading days -- the most ever in that time, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index -- amid a global market selloff fueled by fears of further trade tensions. Facebook Inc.’s Mark Zuckerberg held the previous record, set in July, when the social-media giant reported revenue and user growth that missed estimates, lopping $16.5 billion from his fortune.

Facebook bans far-right group Proud Boys and founder Gavin McInnes - Mashable

Quote:
Far-right group Proud Boys and its founder Gavin McInnes have been banned from Facebook and Instagram.

The thinly-veiled white nationalist group used Facebook as a recruiting tool, with numerous groups and pages to organise and attract members.

SEE ALSO: Milo Yiannopoulos' Facebook rant shows that de-platforming actually works

Business Insider first reported the ban, which comes after violence between the group and anti-fascist protesters in New York City earlier this month, resulting in five arrests of Proud Boys members.

It seems Facebook has finally deemed McInnes and the group to be a hate organization or figure.

"Our team continues to study trends in organized hate and hate speech and works with partners to better understand hate organizations as they evolve," a Facebook spokesperson said in a statement to Mashable.

Man arrested after drunkenly stealing and riding a horse at the Breeders' Cup

There was some craziness at the Breeders’ Cup at Churchill Downs on Saturday. A drunk man attempted to steal a horse and ride it around the track — and he almost made it.

According to the Lexington Herald Leader, 24-year-old Michael Wells-Rody was pretty thoroughly soused when he snuck into a restricted area at the famous racetrack. Despite being drunk enough to think this was a good idea, he managed to make his way onto an actual horse before anyone noticed he shouldn’t be there.

'Make the Gospel Great Again': Large billboard of Trump removed in North County - KMOV

Quote:
ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KMOV.com) - A billboard on Interstate 170 near St. Charles Rock Road caught drivers' attention.

A large electronic billboard featuring President Donald Trump with the bible verse, "The word became flesh", could be seen along the southbound lanes of the highway.

The billboard left residents like Sherri Chisholim searching for the meaning behind the ad.

"I didn't know what to make of it. I didn't know what message it was trying to send but I felt like it was somewhat offensive, I didn't know if they were trying to equate Donald Trump to Jesus," said Chisholim.

In the top right corner, the billboard said "Make the Gospel Great Again" playing off Trump's famous slogan.

On Monday, DDI Media posted on Facebook that billboard has been removed due to its political nature and there was no indication on the sponsoring organization.

The group adds that the ad didn't meet their requirements for political ads and was taken down.

The advertisement is owned by DDI Media but there is no clear message on the image about who paid for it.

Election official resigns after a video shows her screaming at a black woman.

Quote:
An election supervisor and judge in Williamson County, Texas, has stepped down after she was captured on video screaming at a black voter who was reportedly confused about where to vote.

In footage captured by a third party of the confrontation on Friday afternoon, Lila Guzman could be seen telling the voter repeatedly to leave, saying: "Get out. Get out. Get out. You are rude. You are not following the law. Go. Go."

Williamson County Elections Administrator Chris Davis told the news station Guzman lost “her composure in the middle of this, and that's not something that we ever train our poll workers, supervisors, election judges and clerks to do.”

Despite the fallout from the video, Guzman told the publication she did not step down from her post due to the incident but because she felt Davis’s office failed to provide backup when she alerted authorities about the incident.

Jury Finds Craig Carton Guilty On Fraud Charges

CRAIG CARTON has been found guilty on all counts in his trial on fraud charges. The former ENTERCOM (then CBS) Sports WFAN-A-F/NEW YORK morning co-host was convicted on the second day of jury deliberation in the case, which alleged that CARTON engaged in a Ponzi scheme that he used to pay gambling debts and personal bills while paying early investors with money invested by later investors. CARTON did not testify at the trial.

The business involved a resale scheme for concert and sporting event tickets; two other partners, MICHAEL WRIGHT and JOSEPH MELI, were tried separately, WRIGHT pleading guilty and MELI convicted on separate fraud charges. The scheme raised over $4 million from investor including hedge fund BRIGADE CAPITAL.

Georgia's GOP gubernatorial candidate Brian Kemp to resign as secretary of state - CNBC

Quote:
Georgia's Republican Secretary of State Brian Kemp will resign Thursday as his gubernatorial race with Democrat Stacey Abrams remains too close to call.

Kemp is the state's top election official as he runs to become its governor, and stepping down would mean he would not certify the final vote count. He declared victory Wednesday in his contest with Abrams, which was marked by concerns about Kemp using his current office to suppress votes.

The Republican candidate had won roughly 50.3 percent of the votes counted in the race as of Thursday morning, according to NBC News tallies. The figure is important because, if Kemp secures less than a majority of votes, the contest will go to a runoff.

A lawsuit filed by Georgia voters on Tuesday in a federal court in Atlanta accused Kemp of using "the official powers of his office to interfere in the election to benefit himself and his political party and disadvantage his opponents." In a statement to NBC News on Tuesday night, Kemp spokeswoman Candice Brode called the litigation a "twelfth-hour stunt."

Democrats including former President Jimmy Carter — who served as Georgia's governor and lives in the state now — called on Kemp to resign from his position before the election.

"In order to foster voter confidence in the upcoming election, which will be especially important if the race ends up very close, I urge you to step aside and hand over to a neutral authority the responsibility of overseeing the governor's election," Carter wrote, according to a copy of the letter obtained by the Associated Press.
