Sam Nunberg? It's weird he's out there talking up Trump. Given that Trump fired him -- twice. And ... there's a lawsuit.

https://ballotpedia.org/Sam_Nunberg

Nunberg had advised Donald Trump since early 2014. In February 2014, Nunberg arranged for Buzzfeed writer McCay Coppins to write a profile on Trump for the website. When it was published, the profile cast Trump in a negative light, calling him "a man startled by his suddenly fading relevance — and consumed by a desperate need to get it back."[10] When the article appeared, Nunberg was fired.[11] In April 2014, however, Nunberg was rehired to his same position.[12]

On June 16, 2015, Trump announced his bid for the presidency at Trump Tower in New York City.[13] Nunberg remained on the campaign team as an advisor.[1]

Departure

Nunberg was again fired from the campaign in August 2015. Business Insider reported on Nunberg's history of racially charged and provocative social media activities dating back to 2007. The report noted that Nunberg had a history of attacking African American leaders, like Al Sharpton and President Barack Obama: "Among other things, Nunberg called Obama a 'Socialist Marxist Islamo Fascist Nazi Appeaser' and 'Farrakahn's Messiah.'"[2] According to NBC News, Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski called Nunberg a "short-time consultant with the campaign." Nunberg was terminated on August 2, 2015.[3]

Confidentiality arbitration

In July 2016, Trump accused Nunberg of violating a confidentiality agreement and sought $10 million from Nunberg. According to The Hill, Trump accused Nunberg of leaking a story about a dispute between former campaign manager Corey Lewandowski and spokeswoman Hope Hicks. Nunberg claimed that the arbitration was part of the campaign's attempts to "silence" him after he endorsed Ted Cruz (R).[14] On August 11, 2016, Nunberg and Trump settled on an agreement that could not be relitigated, according to Politico.[15]

He is buds with Roger Stone.

We do not have to wait for Mueller's findings to see what's in front of our face.

TRUMP IS RECEIVING GIFTS FROM FOREIGN GOVERNMENTS AND VIOLATING THE CONSTITUTION, ETHICS WATCHDOGS WARN
http://www.newsweek.com/trump-still-doi ... nts-769177

Governments from other countries are finding new ways to benefit President Donald Trump and his businesses, according to reports. Trump has faced accusations of financially benefiting from the presidency from the moment he was elected and has been the subject of multiple lawsuits claiming he is in violation of the foreign emoluments clause in the Constitution.

Related: Ivanka Trump Wears Her Company's Clothes in Social Media Posts, Raising Further Conflict of Interest Questions

Details of the way in which governments have sought to curry favor with Trump were reported Tuesday by McClatchy DC Bureau. In Indonesia, a local government approved plans to construct a road that would shorten the drive between Trump’s new six-star resort and golf course and the main airport located on the island of Bali.

In Panama, the federal government installed sewer and water pipes around the Trump Ocean Club International Hotel and Tower in Panama City to ensure the construction on the sail-shaped skyscraper would be completed after the contractor went bankrupt.

These actions, according to Noah Bookbinder, executive director of Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), could be in violation of the emoluments clause, which prohibits government officials from accepting gifts or payments of any kind from foreign governments.

“If you have a foreign government providing a benefit to the Trump company, that is going to violate emoluments clause of the Constitution,” said Bookbinder.

[snip][end]

These would not be issues if Trump had truly divested himself of his business and put it into a blind trust.

But he didn't.

here's the thing.
groper thinks everyone is as dumb as he.

he does not comprehend that anyone, outside his skin, is smart smarter or more smart than he thinks he is.

his fatal fatal flaw.

he confuses "smart" with "clever".
he is neither but, apparently, he was an excellent bullshitter all these years.

meaning all these money people all these decades who told you, the investor, to believe him,
they all knew they were selling trump bullshit. wave that flag!

so, call your hedgie guy or call your banker and ask them why they think the DOW should be rising. :rw) :rw)

its all built on bullshit.

Rain you'll like this Op-ed article in the New York Times.

Everyone in Trumpworld Knows He’s an Idiot

https://www.nytimes.com/2018/01/04/opin ... pe=article

In it Michelle Goldberg writes "Expecting him [Trump] to act in the country’s interest is like demanding that your cat do the dishes. His enablers have no such excuse."

That was how the article ended, this is how it began:

"One of the more alarming anecdotes in “Fire and Fury,” Michael Wolff’s incendiary new book about Donald Trump’s White House, involves the firing of James Comey, former director of the F.B.I. It’s not Trump’s motives that are scary; Wolff reports that Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner were “increasingly panicked” and “frenzied” about what Comey would find if he looked into the family finances, which is incriminating but unsurprising. The terrifying part is how, in Wolff’s telling, Trump sneaked around his aides, some of whom thought they’d contained him."

That Op-ed is fun when it points out "But most of all, the book confirms what is already widely understood — not just that Trump is entirely unfit for the presidency, but that everyone around him knows it."

That is fun but there in lies the danger, Wolff's reputation may in the end be the explosive charge which discredit what is already widely understood Trump is unfit for office. I'm terrified that this incendiary book is going to explode in our faces and in doing so assist Trump.

When fascism comes to America it will come wrapped in the Dow Jones average and will talk like someone who has just completed thier third grade.

:|

Trump tweets: "The Fake News Media barely mentions the fact that the Stock Market just hit another New Record and that business in the U.S. is booming...but the people know! Can you imagine if “O” was president and had these numbers - would be biggest story on earth! Dow now over 25,000."

Right after he tweeted with thunder: "I authorized Zero access to White House (actually turned him down many times) for author of phony book! I never spoke to him for book. Full of lies, misrepresentations and sources that don’t exist. Look at this guy’s past and watch what happens to him and Sloppy Steve!"

his behavior in its entirety is a clear and present danger.

https://www.rawstory.com/2018/01/doctor ... dangerous/
However, “mental illness does not equate with dangerousness,” he told Tapper Thursday. “Most people who are mentally ill are not dangerous. And most people in our society who are not dangerous are not mentally ill, as the law and psychiatry define it. What I’m concerned about is his dangerousness. I think the president we have now is unprecedentedly dangerous to our country and the world.”

he went on to say that having a mentally ill president isn’t the issue and is irrelevant.

“The question is not whether he’s mentally ill, it’s whether he is dangerous and we have abundant evidence of his extreme and unprecedented dangerousness,” Gilligan continued.
....“I’m saying he is dangerous. for example, he has incited his followers to commit assault and battery to anti-Trump protesters in political rallies....

“He’s boasted about his own sexual assaults against women which he indicated he has committed repeatedly, habitually without any sense of guilt or remorse instead of feeling guilty about it, he’s proud of it and bragged about it,” Gilligan said. “I could go — there is a list as long as my arm of evidence of dangerousness.”

I agree that in assessing things, it's more important that one show he is dangerous, than that one show he is mentally ill.

That said, your thread title invokes the 25th amendment (AFAICS). And the problem there, whether we should be talking about it or not, what it applies to or not, whether it's pointless to be talking about it, :D is you can't use the 25th amendment to get rid of a dangerous person, but you can use it to get rid of an incapacitated, sick person. BTW, the 25th amendment does NOT deal with "unfitness" for office in terms of lack of competence, experience, or skill. It just doesn't. Though we agree Trump is incompetent, but ... that was for voters to deal with in November 2016.

The only way to get rid of a dangerous person, unless they are incapacitated by illness, is impeachment.

What some folks don't get is I am not disagreeing with the point that it is more difficult to invoke the 25th than impeach the president. I've only been pointing to what appears to be evidence that proceedings should begin on either process. Some folks want to wait on Mueller before we start on impeachment. Fine enough. What are we waiting on in the other case? Well, I think this is why some want Trump to take a neurological exam when he takes his physical.

Since I believe the mind and the body are one, I don't see any real point in differentiating between mental and physical health/incapacity, incidentally. Incapacity is incapacity.

The 25th Amendment, indeed, was designed to handle the case of POTUS being in a coma, or under general anesthesia. Mental incapacity was not anticipated, unfortunately.

For it to happen, a bunch of Neanderthal billionaire rapacious maggots have to agree with a whacko theocrat VP that POTUS is even crazier than they are, even though they all owe their jobs to him. Good luck.

Disagree.

http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter ... president/

The amendment’s principal author, Sen. Birch Bayh, D.-Ind., embraced an understanding that presidential inability would encompass both physical and mental inability, said Joel Goldstein, a law professor at St. Louis University, who’s closely studied the congressional record.

The formulation he adopted was put forth by Sen. Robert F. Kennedy, D-N.Y., who said presidential inability "involves physical or mental inability to make or communicate his decision regarding his capacity and physical or mental inability to exercise the powers and duties of his office."

Another important architect of the amendment, Rep. Richard Poff, R-Va., held a similar view, according to Goldstein.

Poff said section four not only applied when the president, due to accident or illness, was unconscious or otherwise unable to make or communicate a decision, but also when "the President, by reason of mental debility, is unable or unwilling to make any rational decision, including particularly the decision to stand aside."

On July 6, 1965, Congress formally proposed the 25th Amendment, and the necessary 38 states ratified it Feb. 10, 1967.

Legal experts told us the drafters used intentionally vague and open-ended language (i.e., a president who is "unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office.") because they recognized they couldn't predict every scenario in which a president could be deemed disabled.

[snip][end]

Again, I'm sorry if I'm irritating people who know its invocation will be extremely difficult. That isn't the point I'm arguing.

This other point, though, about what the amendment does apply to, does matter.

Alas, I actually agree with some folks that there is no remedy under the Constitution for incompetence. You've got only one: don't vote for the bastard a 2nd time. 25th amendment deals with disability & illness. Impeachment with corrupt/unethical acts. Incompetence: well, shit, homies, should have noticed when you went to vote the first time.

1. You're right about the 25th. I was thinking more that realistic chances of implementation are close to nil if POTUS is not unconscious. Obviously there's a chance if POTUS has completely lost it, the way people do in the movies, and has lost touch with the world.

2. I become more doubtful every day that the homies even gave him the seemingly remarkable majorities in all those swing states in anything we'd consider a fair contest. Even if only one state cooked the count, that was enough in an election decided by a handful of counties in each of these states.

Even if the homies did, the Russian psyop puts a doubt over the honesty of the campaigns.

Having conversation for fun has a point. Most of what we do here is pointless if having conversations for fun is subtracted.

I guess. I tend to think of political message boards as one version of a Great Good Place or Third Place. I say that because after all, it seems we are discussing what kind of society we want to live in.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Third_place

I don't see that task as merely being for fun, though I have nothing against having fun.

Perhaps in the past, third places were salons, or agoras, or meeting places where people came to discuss ideas. I of course don't view that as pointless. There's plenty of stuff here that is just for fun, heck we have a section for it that calls it Uncategorized Fun. Again, to be clear, it's great to have fun discussing serious issues, I do it; it doesn't mean the issues and subjects aren't serious.

It should matter. Whether it has an impact, well, I guess the funny thing is, we never really know how much impact we have on other peoples' lives until much later.

Ask me how I know.
