Yep...this is how the banned list was developed. If Donald thinks the country is a shithole, it goes on the list.

"Why are we having all these people from shithole
countries come here?” - President Donald Trump, January 11, 2018.

Quote:
President Trump grew frustrated with lawmakers Thursday in the Oval Office when they floated restoring protections for immigrants from Haiti, El Salvador and African countries as part of a bipartisan immigration deal, according to two people briefed on the meeting.

“Why are we having all these people from shithole countries come here?” Trump said, according to these people, referring to African countries and Haiti. He then suggested that the United States should instead bring more people from countries like Norway, whose prime minister he met Wednesday.

I'm wondering why we are having this president coming from a shithole gene pool?

We of course can trust Trump's judgement on this.

He knows shitholes. Some of them are Trump properties.

Covering shit in rose oil doesn't make it salmon, nor does covering shit design with gaudy glitz and gold cover up its stank.

The obvious racism in the question is obvious. But my next one is, how do we "get" more Norwegians here. Kidnapping? Hate to point this out, but they might prefer living in Norway because BTW in many areas of social statistics, they are better off than we are.

But we don't want to be hasty in our attempts to crawl out from under the wreckage this motherfucker has already created. Besides both parties do the same stuff, and Hillary is just as bad. It didn't matter which one got the job so I just stayed home with my head up my ass. Or maybe I voted for the guy who thought Aleppo was an Italian dessert.

And then we have the response from White House spokesmoron Raj Shah.
Quote:
“Certain Washington politicians choose to fight for foreign countries, but President Trump will always fight for the American people,” spokesman Raj Shah said in a statement issued after The Washington Post first reported Trump’s remarks.

Is Raj really so fucked up in the head that he doesn't understand that as far as Donald is concerned, Raj's parents came here from one of those shithole countries? Raj...do you really not get what a complete whore you are?

the cesspool of a human, groper, is so ignorant he cant grasp that peoples from Diff Places dont
usually want to suddenly now stay here, especially in this fading demockery.
the puertoRicans come here for college educations, become professionals in their skills from
auto to lawyers to doctors and they go home, go back to the place they got the training for.

why would they stay here to compete with the abundance of population already covering the job
set available. they dont. on the island all professionals are bi-lingual, fluent in BOTH languages.

groper is an ignorant fuck.

When communism is finally gone from Cuba, the exodus from this country by Cuban residents of South Florida will make the "Boat People" exodus from Vietnam pale by comparison.

the entire economy of SFla will Collapse.

i suspect its one reason why..the 'us' has no vested interest in relations with cuba.

i know foreigners who often take vacations in cuba...go to weddings in cuba. they love it.

BTW, while I will agree the South Florida economy is highly dependent on Latin Americans, and we have a lot of Cuban Americans here, ... there's also Venezuelans, Salvadorans, Puerto Ricans, Peruvians, Haitians, Nicaraguans, and a lot of other folks, too. ;) Cubans only think they're better than all the rest. ;)

Hopefully, on that day, they'll shut down that ridiculous TV and Radio Marti.

Hey, speaking of shitholes, Joe Arpaio is running for Senate in Arizona. Because, all we need in the GOP is another law-breaking old white racist a-hole. Pardoned by the fool-in-chief himself!

Arpaio wants all the Dreamers deported, and still says Obama's birth certificate is fake. In other words, Trump, with more Trump.

Florida Republicans respond to Trump's derogatory comment about Haiti
Bipartisan outrage after Trump refers to Haiti as 'shithole' country
https://www.local10.com/news/politics/f ... bout-haiti

[snip]

"The president calling Haiti a 'shithole' country ignores the contributions thousands of Haitians have made to our South Florida community and nation," Ros-Lehtinen tweeted. "Language like that shouldn't be heard in locker rooms and it shouldn't be heard in the White House."

Ros-Lehtinen wasn't the only Republican from South Florida to react to the derogatory comment. Rep. Carlos Curbelo also released a statement about the humanitarian temporary protected status that immigration authorities applied to some 400,000 people from to El Salvador, Haiti, Honduras, Nepal, Nicaragua, Somalia, Sudan, South Sudan, Syria and Yemen.

"The men and women who have status under the TPS program are among the most humble and hard-working in our country," Curbelo said. "They improve quality of life in our communities and many Americans depend on them to support family life."

[snip]

"Under no circumstances is it acceptable to degrade, denigrate, or dehumanize" Haitians, Curbelo said.

[snip]

Democrats were also quick to respond. Sen. Bill Nelson said the White House has strayed from American values.

"The President should represent all of the people, not just some selected favorites, and should treat others with respect and dignity," Nelson said.

Rep. Frederica Wilson, who accused Trump of callously handling a phone call with U.S. Army Sgt. La David Johnson's widow, said she was disappointed to learn that Trump prefers immigrants from countries like Norway, but she wasn't surprised.

"His comments are yet another sign that people of color cannot count on this administration to create an agenda that treats all Americans fairly, regardless of their race, creed or color," Wilson said in a statement.

Rep. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz said Trump's remark was racist, discriminatory, outrageous, horrendous and unacceptable.

"No American can be proud of a President who speaks this way," the Democratic lawmaker said in a statement. "Trump’s Republican colleagues must denounce his comments and stand up against bigotry and intolerance or be guilty of sanctioning them."

[snip][end]

EXACTLY.

@MrFilmkritik 2h2 hours ago
Norway has--
- universal health care
- 46 weeks of paid parental leave
- has a 3x higher rate of Muslim citizens than the U.S.
- is ranked by the UN as the "happiest country" in their global happiness index
Why would anyone living there give that up to move to America?

The current occupant of the WH is a perfect symbol for a country being forced to admit that the “strongest military” in the world is no guarantee of maintaining unipolar power. The shifts underway are tectonic in nature and the American people let alone the elected and non-elected elites are not in a good position to weather the upheaval.

He is the American Sun-King.

I don't know who thinks their better than who. All I know is that if I'm a Cuban in South Florida, I can't wait to get back to what is probably the most beautiful non-overdeveloped island in the Caribbean.

And let us not forget the NYT report from December 23, of a meeting in June on immigration where the bigot in chief said that15,000 Haitian immigrants "all have AIDS", and that once those 40,000 Nigerian immigrants see America they will never want to "go back to their huts in Africa."

Back in December White House cabinet members, aids, and staffers all rallied around the president and called the NYT report "lies." This afternoon...no such denials.

On FOX this evening Tucker Carlson featured a report on the existence of UFO's. And Hannity's opening monologue? Why would Mueller appoint anti-Trump investigator Edward Weissman.

And he thinks that instead of these s@@@hole countries we should be getting our immigrants from Norway or as the white house staff referred to them as Normay. And what are characteristics of Scandinavian people in general? White, blonde and blue eyed. Now what other former world leader do we remember as being partial to people with these characteristics?

I was alluding to this, Ike.

Why Are Cubans So Special?
https://www.nytimes.com/2015/01/30/opin ... ecial.html

Most Americans are under the impression that the Republican Party is unequivocally opposed to amnesty for immigrants. In fact, it has long backed a blanket amnesty — but only for Cubans. For every other hopeful immigrant, the party’s message has been clear: “Deportations, deportations, deportations,” to quote Jorge Ramos, the Walter Cronkite of Spanish-language television. Why?

One answer is that the 2.1 million Cuban-Americans have been, until quite recently, a rock-solid Republican constituency. There is also a race and class issue. Unlike most of Central and Latin America, Cuba does not have a distinct indigenous population (the Spanish slaughtered almost all of the native Indians of the island). Hence those fleeing the Castro regime in the 1960s and ’70s were almost entirely white, educated and middle or upper class.

In 2014, the number of Central and Latin American migrants sharply declined. But for Cubans, it was a record year. About 30,000 took to the Florida Straits or arrived via Mexico (the preferred route for those who can afford the flight). Unlike the Mexicans, Guatemalans, Salvadorans and Haitians — most of whom received the heave-ho — each Cuban was welcome.

[snip]

Another is its enabling of a veritable crime syndicate: According to a recent series in The Sun Sentinel, a small cadre of Cubans specializing in Medicare and insurance fraud have bilked American taxpayers and businesses out of more than $2 billion since 1994. Even when caught and prosecuted (many, if not most, flee back to Cuba before capture), they cannot be deported, because Cuba refuses to accept them.

[snip]

None have especially strong bona fides among most Latinos. Indeed, being second-generation white Cuban exiles puts them at odds with the overwhelming majority of Latinos in the United States, who are of mixed race or indigenous descent. Ted Cruz, who is not fluent in Spanish, has been called as Hispanic “as Tom Cruise.” In 2012, an anti-Rubio commercial on Spanish-language TV ended with the tag “No Somos Rubios” — a pun meaning both “We’re not Rubios” and “We’re not blonds” (or whites).

But if Mr. Rubio and Mr. Cruz are serious about their White House ambitions, they will need the votes of Latinos. That means they need to see to it that fairness dictates immigration reform. And that means the end of the Cuban Adjustment Act and “wet foot, dry foot.” So three Cuban-Americans — members of a group that enjoys an unprecedented, coveted status — could well decide the fate of millions of their less fortunate Hispanic brethren. Now that’s rich. Only in America.

[snip][end]

I have personally heard Cubans in Miami say they are better than other Hispanics, like Puerto Ricans or Chicanos or Salvadorans, because they are more "racially pure" and unlike people fleeing those other countries, the ones fleeing Castro were often largely upper middle class.

Cubans are about the only reliably rock solid Republican group among U.S. Hispanics -- if they all left South Florida, Florida would go more blue. They know that. The other state where they are a big pop center is New Jersey -- you may know of a fella named Robert Menendez. No shock, the two Hispanics in Congress who are Republicans with presidential ambitions - Cruz and Rubio - both Cuban.

So, the interesting thing is, they call themselves "exiles" but are the only Hispanics who can get automatic asylum and/or citizenship just by making it to dry land. I am sure many want to go back, but we always joke here in Miami as to whether people like Gus Machado will sell all of his car dealerships and leave if the island became democratic tomorrow. Let's just say people are skeptical. A lot of them have built large businesses here, and have a better life than they could have in Cuba, even if it stopped being communist. I guess some day we will find out whether they really are "exiles" or not, or are actually here to stay (despite rhetoric).

Full disclosure: my stepmom is Cuban American. (My dad is dead. I still talk to her, occasionally.) She won't go back to the island, even to visit, as long as it's communist. Her family fled in 1962. She does have relatives in Cuba ... distant. They have never spoken, and she's not sure if all of them are still alive. We once discussed if she would go back. To visit, to find those relatives, yes. To stay ... no. Her daughter, my stepsister, doesn't speak Spanish. One other interesting fact: my stepmom, like most Cubans, was Catholic, but left the Catholic church once here in the U.S. to join a Protestant evangelical one, instead. (A lot of Latins are doing this, and not just Cubans.)

OK...so I spent some time last night flipping between Don Lemon and Rachel Maddow. I also looked in on FOX to see how they were handling this...and found the aforementioned "UFO" and "Fusion GPS" whataboutery, and other FOX nonsense. So at FOX it never happened. The first mention of it out of FOX that I know of is it's support of his denial that he said any of it.

But the purpose of this post is to ask the question...Rachel? WTF? After listening to Don Lemon and several panels gloriously tossing the word "shithole" around on cable TV what is Rachel doing? In her initial report on the incident,
"I'm going to say a swear, but only once...shithole." From then on, it was 75 utterances of the G rated "bleephole." So she was good...but it seems to me her show last night lost a lot of the impact of the actual kind of guy Trump is...because she was uncomfortable saying "shit'?

Fucking FCC, and their fucking broadcast rules.

BTW, technically, they can't say "shit" on NBC as it's over-the-air, but they can say "shit" on MSNBC because it's cable.

Those rules are starting to become technologically obsolete, if they even ever had a real purpose. Yes, I know, every time some broadcaster says "shit" or "fuck" on the national airwaves, a kitten dies.

As Carlin always joked, nobody can say "Mongolian clusterfuck".

BTW, I always make clear on day 1, if students expect their professor not to swear in class, well they're fucking wrong.

I hate linguistic taboos, and I really don't get the point of that one. Expletives and swearwords are excellent emphatics.

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2018/01/12/trump-remark-draws-sharp-reactions-from-un-haiti-africa.html

Fox News says they were one of the news outlets to confirm that Trump did say it. The above is from their talk shop. The panel laughs about CNN becoming unhinged. Then Ann Coulter leads off with saying because Bobby Kennedy promised us something about what an immigration law in 1965 would not do, everything is fine here, nothing wrong with what Trump said, it's not a raciest thing at all.
