L.A. County Sheriff’s Deputy Charged With Sexually Assaulting 6 Women Inside Jail Faces Another Accusation

The woman said the attack happened in a dimly lit part of the jail.

The officer ordered her to take off her clothes, then groped her breasts, the woman said. She claimed the lawman forced her into sexual acts again and again, threatening to remove her from educational classes if she did not comply.

I see that Jail Division is still a total shithole, years after the "investigations" and removal of one county sheriff over the issue.

Top South Carolina candidate refuses to quit congressional race after abuse discovery

Archie Parnell, a Democratic congressional hopeful who earned national attention after nearly winning in deep red South Carolina last year, is resisting pleas to withdraw after his campaign staff discovered that he physically abused his ex-wife in the 1970s.

In divorce records obtained by The Post and Courier, Kathleen Parnell said the marriage deteriorated after two years in 1973 because of "unwarranted accusations" from her husband.

‘It’s coaches’ jobs to care about you!’: USA Swimming encourages kids to implicitly trust coaches
Quote:
In his opening statement on Wednesday in front of the House Commerce Committee’s hearing on sexual abuse in Olympic sports, USA Swimming (USAS) CEO Tim Hinchey invoked the power and protection of the organization’s Safe Sport program 15 times.

He called it a “comprehensive abuse prevention and response program,” established in 2010, “based on six well-established pillars of youth-serving abuse prevention programs.” He said that when he assumed the role of CEO in July 2017, he “recognized Safe Sport’s significance to the organization,” and noted that the “Safe Sport-recognized club program will enhance athlete protection efforts at the local level.”

Sure, USAS has been a feeding ground for sexual predators and abusive coaches in the past, Hinchey implied, but now that USAS has Safe Sport, all is well.

ThinkProgress reviewed the Safe Sport materials on USAS’s website, and discovered a program that, contrary to what USAS would like you to believe, seems more focused on convincing swimmers that they should trust their coaches implicitly, and less focused on actually preventing sex abuse. ThinkProgress reached out to USAS Safe Sport for comment, but did not hear back prior to publication.

<snip>

When Bostick first heard that USA Swimming had implemented Safe Sport programs in all local clubs, she was thrilled. It felt like the solution the sport needed, proof that USAS had been listening to her and other survivors, that the sport was finally going to be safe for young swimmers again.

But after examining the materials, she now worries that USAS is even more dangerous today than it was when she was being abused, because the Safe Sport brand itself exudes a level of trust that encourages parents and swimmers to let their guard down.

“It’s even worse than it was in the 1980s, because you have an entity that is supposed to stop child sex abuse encouraging predatory behavior and poor boundaries,” Bostick said.

“That material is a huge betrayal, a personal betrayal. To see that material with the Safe Sport branding, I was disgusted. I felt violated again.”

Justin Hartley From "This Is Us" Says He Was Sexually Harassed by a Fan

Over the past months, the #MeToo movement has inspired countless survivors to come forward about their experiences with sexual harassment and assault. And sexual harassment doesn't discriminate; people of all genders have come forward with their experiences, including men as well. Yet men may not be taken seriously when an alleged harasser or abuser is a woman, as actor Justin Hartley revealed with allegations of his own.

In a recent interview with Good Housekeeping, the This Is Us star recounted an incident in which he was allegedly sexually harassed by a fan. "I’m not afraid to say this, because I think she should be ashamed of herself," he told the publication. Justin says that this happened when a woman approached him and his friends at a restaurant in Chicago.

You should see the L.A. Times damning U$C with faint praise all over the place today. Oh, they're still one of the world's pre-eminent universities, much better than that state school across town where the rabble go. What's a couple of bad apples?

I think the end of that proverb deals with spoiling the barrel.

I wonder: how is the L.A. Times going to stay so chummy with the L.A. downtown old-boy network after they move to El Segundo? Did anyone think of that? It'll take more than 15 minutes to pootle on down to University Park and tip back a few with the rich types.

(They can't get into the Jonathan Club. There have to be rules, after all............)

----------

Then there's Weinstein's defense. But Mom, all the kids do it.

----------

BTW:

That state school across town invented the Internet. You didn't. You invented basing your fund raising on football championships. You said we'd all work for you after graduating. Who's working for whom now? Neener neener neener.

Katie Porter Survived Domestic Abuse, Only To Have It Used Against Her In Her Campaign

WASHINGTON ― Four years before law professor Katie Porter launched her campaign for Congress, the single mother of three was flossing her teeth in the bathroom of her home in Irvine, California, when her then-husband barged in.

Matthew Hoffman grabbed his wife’s hands, ripped the floss out of them and threw it away, and then punched the wall so hard that he shattered the faceplate on the light switch and knocked the lights out. He would later tell a judge he was angry because his wife had been brushing her teeth too slowly.

Mark Cuban and the Dallas Mavericks appear to be in even more trouble.

Chris Hyde — a Mavericks senior account executive who was fired in 2014 — repeatedly looked at pornographic images on his cellphone or computer while touching himself, generating the nickname “Pants DJ,” according to a report from the Dallas Morning News.

Congressional Candidate In Virginia Admits He’s A Pedophile

Nathan Larson, a 37-year-old accountant from Charlottesville, Virginia, is running for Congress as an independent candidate in his native state. He is also a pedophile, as he admitted to HuffPost on Thursday, who has bragged in website posts about raping his late ex-wife.

In a phone call, Larson confirmed that he created the now-defunct websites suiped.org and incelocalypse.today ― chat rooms that served as gathering places for pedophiles and violence-minded misogynists like himself. HuffPost contacted Larson after confirming that his campaign website shared an IP address with these forums, among others. His sites were terminated by their domain host on Tuesday.

Republican running in special election for open Wisconsin Assembly seat once cited for disorderly conduct

MADISON – A Republican running for an open state Assembly seat next week was cited for disorderly conduct after he kicked his then-18-year-old daughter out of the house nearly 21 years ago.

Jon Plumer of Lodi faces Democrat Ann Groves Lloyd in a special election June 12 in the 42nd Assembly District. The district has leaned red but Democrats are hoping unhappiness with President Donald Trump will help them flip the seat.

Man Cleared of Sexual Abuse Charges in Capitol After Prosecutors Drop Case

A man accused of sexual abuse at the Capitol Visitor Center in November has been cleared of all charges after prosecutors motioned to dismiss the case last week.

The two 18-year-old female witnesses who told U.S Capitol Police that 30-year-old Adam Fairbert of Florida touched one of their buttocks and took “a photo of a girl” at the CVC later declined to testify under oath.
