The Pennsylvania State Supreme Court has issued a new Congressional Map to replace Gerrymandered GOP Map.

https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/pe ... d0e12c1287.

This deals a body blow the Pennsylvania GOP that used their map to redraw districts giving more seats to their party

The new districts will be compact, contigous and will contain rougly the same number of voters.

Republicans heavily gerrymandered the previous map, giving their party a decided election wise.

45 won Pennsylvania, but since being elected voters in that State have shown buyers remorse with 45 and his policies.

Waiting for the howls from GOP on this.

Likely needs to be done in a number of states but let's see if the logic reaches the
politicians who draw the electoral maps. At least make it feasible to argue in court
that the maps are fairly drawn.

Republicans will sue to block court-drawn Pennsylvania congressional map

(Reuters) - State and national Republican officials will file a federal lawsuit as soon as Wednesday seeking to block a new Pennsylvania congressional map released on Monday by the state’s high court, the party’s congressional campaign arm said on Tuesday.

Would the national republican party have legal standing to bring or be a party to the suit? I can see the state party having legal standing since they are within the state but the national party is headquartered in Washington, D.C. so why could they have any legal standing in the case?

Pennsylvania’s New Map Helps Democrats. But It’s Not A Democratic Gerrymander.

By Aaron Bycoffe https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/pe ... rrymander/

"Pennsylvania’s new congressional district map, released Monday by the state Supreme Court, is sure to improve Democrats’ electoral outlook in the state. Over the long term, Democrats can expect to occupy one to two additional seats compared with the current map, according to a FiveThirtyEight analysis. (The state’s congressional delegation currently has 12 Republicans and five Democrats. One seat is vacant.)"

At the link there are nice charts and statistical analysis. And Aaron is buying the coffee. :)
