Kim Davis wrote a book? Her 15 minutes of fame were over three years ago so how many people are interested in what she has to say? The only way the book will make money is for conservative groups to buy it in bulk, like they do with most conservative authors to make it appear to be a best seller, and give it away for free.

Gubernatorial candidate: I had no clue my ancestors owned so many slaves - NY Post

Quote:
A candidate for governor of South Carolina who once said she was “proud” of the Confederacy now claims she didn’t know her ancestors owned more than 60 slaves.

During a campaign speech at Bob Jones University earlier this month, Republican candidate Catherine Templeton touted her Southern heritage and her family’s involvement in the Confederacy.

During the speech, Templeton was vague about her slave-owning ancestors, telling the audience: “I think it’s important that my family didn’t fight because we had slaves. My family fought because the federal government was trying to tell us how to live. We didn’t need them to tell us how to live way back then and we don’t need them to tell us how to live today.”

The only fucking states’ right that the South was concerned about was slavery, period. Yes, yes, the North favored tariffs and the South did not. Why? Because the slave economy required that there not be tariffs. It ALWAYS goes back to slavery no matter how these pathetic asshats try to spin it.

a good read

Slavery is still America's burden

Quote:
Slavery lives.

It is America’s burden that, like the building of our country, continues to be borne on the backs of African Americans more than anyone else.

America has spent more than a century and a half not dealing with the heinous institution that attempted to make beasts of men.

It watched while former slaves and their descendants spent a century and a half seeking permission to be be free. Seeking ............

Why White Evangelicalism Is So Cruel

https://www.forbes.com/sites/chrisladd/ ... 24feaa71f6

Quote:
Robert Jeffress, Pastor of First Baptist Church in Dallas and an avid supporter of Donald Trump, earned headlines this week for his defense of the president’s adultery with a porn star. Regarding the affair and subsequent financial payments, Jeffress explained, “Even if it’s true, it doesn’t matter.”

-----

Many Christian movements take the title “evangelical,” including many African-American denominations. However, evangelicalism today has been coopted as a preferred description for Christians who were looking to shed an older, largely discredited title: Fundamentalist. A quick glance at a map showing concentrations of adherents and weekly church attendance reveals the evangelical movement’s center of gravity in the Old South. And among those evangelical churches, one denomination remains by far the leader in membership, theological pull, and political influence.

There is still today a Southern Baptist Church. More than a century and a half after the Civil War, and decades after the Methodists and Presbyterians reunited with their Yankee neighbors, America’s most powerful evangelical denomination remains defined, right down to the name over the door, by an 1845 split over slavery.

-----

Generation after generation, Southern pastors adapted their theology to thrive under a terrorist state. Principled critics were exiled or murdered, leaving voices of dissent few and scattered. Southern Christianity evolved in strange directions under ever-increasing isolation. Preachers learned to tailor their message to protect themselves. If all you knew about Christianity came from a close reading of the New Testament, you’d expect that Christians would be hostile to wealth, emphatic in protection of justice, sympathetic to the point of personal pain toward the sick, persecuted and the migrant, and almost socialist in their economic practices. None of these consistent Christian themes served the interests of slave owners, so pastors could either abandon them, obscure them, or flee.

A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.

Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

Slavery is definitely what hosed this country. It never came to terms with the fact that it had written a constitution proclaiming liberty for all humans, and was then forced to decide that certain large ethnic groups weren't human even though everyone knew they were. IIRC, they fixed that with slaves by making them 3/5ths human.

Native Americans... well, that's a problem too, though it was solved largely by exterminating them. Bad show there too.

But the big problem is those slaves. Never got over it. No reconciliation. No closure. No reparations. No 40 acres. No mule. No nothing. Just a bunch of scared whites hating Others Not Like Them.

Interesting - this story is now 404. But not before being reposted about a million times in my own SM circles.

Somebody captured it for posterity

The article removed from Forbes, “Why White Evangelicalism Is So Cruel”

White Evangelicalism is cruel because it's one of two dual prongs of white conservatism, the other being the pursuit of money and things. White conservatism is built on inhumanity, violence, and their own self loathing. As it was in their slavedriving days, white Evangelical conservatism is one in the same with the pursuit of money and things, with people being mere things to them.

Conservative whites are miserable people. Misery loves only one thing.

It wasn't somebody who captured it for posterity, Chris Ladd the author posted it at political orphans, and he's in the comments section about it too.

He added this:

"Dismantling an theology built around protecting the interests of white men would open up the denomination to *the rest* of the Gospel message. That would allow the faith to serve something like a traditional Christian role, similar to Mainline Protestant denominations, on issues all over the spectrum. It wouldn’t just benefit homosexuals, it would benefit everyone.

The people in the North who share an ideological viewpoint with NeoConfederate conservatives in the South don’t run all of the institutions of social, economic and political power in the North. That’s why blue states are blue, and why even the reddish states in the North are marginally more prosperous, just and sane than their peers in the Deep South."

:)

:) yeah.

I haven't given an opinon yet on this Forbes article, which imo gets some things wrong. Especially as regards "Fundamentalism" vs Evangelicalism and the latter trying to distance itself from the former.

But -- and this is related to misundertanding conservative whites -- this comment you highlight really lays bare another issue that whites have when trying to discuss slavery, Jim Crow, the south and the north. There is a lot more to the United States than the "south" and the "north", and plenty of people from both regions of all races have ended up in the "west".

California, as you know, has the most hate groups in the country. Even if you adjust for the number of NOI/Black Hebrew/etc hate groups it far outweighs any other state's.

Death of Marine recruit Raheel Siddiqui: Officer pleads guilty

Quote:
WASHINGTON – An officer who led the training battalion to which former Marine recruit Raheel Siddiqui of Taylor belonged before he died has pleaded guilty to three charges, the Marine Corps Times reported on Monday.

Lt. Col. Joshua Kissoon, whose court-martial had been set to begin at Quantico, Va., pleaded guilty to charges of dereliction of duty, making false official statements and conduct unbecoming an officer, the publication reported.

Kissoon had been in charge of the 3rd Recruit Training Battalion at the Marines' base at Parris Island, S.C., two years ago when Siddiqui died in a three-story fall. Although his death has been ruled a suicide, Siddiqui's family continues to fight that finding, and, last November, Siddiqui's drill instructor, Gunnery Sgt. Joseph Felix, was found guilty of hazing and abusing recruits, including Siddiqui, whom he allegedly slapped just before his death.

Felix was sentenced to 10 years' confinement. Kissoon had been accused of failing to remove Felix from overseeing Siddiqui's platoon, even though Felix was being investigated for other incidents, including one in which he allegedly ordered another Muslim recruit into a dryer on the base and turned it on, burning him.

Kissoon had reportedly been told to remove Felix from having contact with recruits while the investigation was ongoing, the Marine Corps Times reported..............

Students to stand up for gay classmate as hate group plans rally at school

Quote:
The controversial Westboro Baptist Church group will be in St. Louis Monday, singling out an individual student at John Burroughs School.

Three months ago, we introduced you to Jake Bain. He made national headlines when he became the first St. Louis area prep athlete to come out as gay.

According to the Head of School, Westboro Baptist will assemble on the west side of the sidewalk on Clayton Road Monday morning.

They won’t be alone.

Another large group will be assembled on the east side. Students have a plan of their own.

“I think this is one thing that everyone is unanimous about, this is a group of people that don’t really deserve our attention,” says John Burroughs Head of School Andy Abbot.

He admits, there is some irony in those words coming from a school administrator, but says, there’s nothing to be open-minded about when dealing with a group like Westboro Baptist Church.

“When an international hate group is coming to protest at your school, you’re probably doing something right,” he says....................

No rampaging lesbian would touch her with a ten-foot pole. That's why she's mad.

She's one of those dumb straight girls who gets all indignant and demands to know "well why don't you like ME"! (Because, Michelle, you're one of the dumbest straight girls in town.)

Same for that ridiculous Sunday School queen husband of hers. :problem:

Blah I dont want to speculate on the intimate life between them. That would require industrial stregnth brain bleach. But I have known a lot of freaked-out white conservative Evangelical women like her and closet-case self-loathing white very obvious queens like him. Women like that really think of themselves as some kind of prize when in fact nobody can stand them.

These people are among the worst perverts in the world, starting with their ownwarped, bully-victim, confederate perception of themselves. Everything from there is a dead end because they are dead inside.
