But ... but ... but ... paragraph 16!

I'm moving on.

Trump Told Woman Charged As Kremlin Agent He’d Drop Russia Sanctions
“We get along with Putin,” Trump told Mariia Butina during his campaign.

https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/tr ... 86f485b0a5

In an early campaign video, then-presidential candidate Donald Trump told a woman at the libertarian FreedomFest in Las Vegas that he’d likely drop sanctions against Russia if elected.

Multiple media outlets have reported that the woman was Russian gun rights activist Mariia Butina, who was charged in federal court on Monday with conspiracy to act as an agent of the Russian Federation.

The 2015 video suggests Butina was already hovering around Trump at the start of his campaign. Trump’s comments also expose his early tolerance toward Russia — expressed in the extreme after his Helsinki summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday.

When Butina asked Trump about his position on Russia, he replied: “I believe I would get along very nicely with Putin ... I don’t think you’d need the sanctions. I think we would get along very, very well.”

Trump also sarcastically quipped that Putin was a “good friend” of then-President Barack Obama.

“Obama gets along with nobody. The whole world hates us ... and yet they make money with us,” Trump said. “I know Putin, and I’ll tell you what: We get along with Putin. Putin has no respect for President Obama. Big problem.”

Trump first met Putin two years later, in 2017, according to The Washington Post. (*)

According to a federal affidavit, Butina, 29, sought to use contacts in the National Rifle Association to get close to U.S. officials. Two days after her FreedomFest exchange with Trump, she attended an event in Wisconsin where Gov. Scott Walker announced he was running for president, Mother Jones reported.

She was also in touch with a longtime GOP operative, and the two worked together in 2016 to establish a “back channel” between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin, according to court documents.

Though the operative was not identified, The New York Times has reported that South Dakota conservative Paul Erickson reached out to Trump campaign leaders about setting up the connection.

In one Twitter message Butina sent to a top Russian official on the night of Trump’s election, she says she is “ready for further orders.” The official — who was not named in the indictment — told Butina: “Your political star has risen in the sky,” according to court documents.

[snip][end]

(*) This is one of many topics on which his story has changed.

I agree with the assessment of GOP leadership and what they said about his news conference. I haven't heard of any military people claiming he is a traitor. I did hear former CIA Chief under Obama make a political statement saying what he did was treason. Assuming Thom Hartmann had it correct. Please show us a link so we can read first hand where military leaders are calling him a traitor.

Also, did you read paragraph 16? Or are you running away fro what was written in it?

Anti-Fundamentalism lesson no. 1: a text without a context is a pretext.

How come you haven't read the Friday indictment of the 12 Russian military people/DNC hack, yet?

Why do you keep telling that lie over and over again do you have mental health issues? I have never said Trump was or is innocent. It has always been prefaced by BASED ON WHAT WE KNOW TODAY or other such words.

Bullshit...lying shitsack. Every goddamn time there's a bit of news on Trump's criminal enterprise posted on this forum you come up with a defense for Trump. You're saying he's innocent every fucking time you do this.

You are the lying shitsack. Nobody but you.

There are photos of Butina with all sorts of political types you've heard of. That woman got around. Potentially, depending on what actually comes out in court, she could be the missing link to a lot of things. How wonderful that Russia chose the gun lobby for her cover. I guess they know who has the clout in the US.

OK, revelations since July 17 actually do agree with this particular insight into why she got around. Indeed, she was dedicated to her service, or so they say.

Even in the third paragraph of your link it says she tried to meet Trump. It also misrepresents what was written in the NY Times article. MJ says she met with Don Jr at an NRA event. The NYT says she met Don Jr at the event. As I am sure you know there is a big difference between meeting a person at an event where that person is glad handing and posing for pictures and meeting with, or having a meeting with a person.

If she had a meeting with Don Jr that could lead to a smoking gun. If she met Jr that is meaningless.

Glen, you're missing the point. In these indictments Mueller has been issuing his investigators only list statements which support that indictment up to the point his indictment has a defense if there's an attempt to quash. He doesn't in include that frosting and other decorative touches he will more than likely revile at the trial.

That becomes a point when a web of contact with several aligned people can be shown as well. The point you've missed is she can be shown to have attempted to conspire with Trump's campaign. That doesn't help Trump and co conspirators, for if it can be shown they did conspire with her, that she attempted to willingly conspire in these criminal acts it can be used to convict those with whom she did conspire.

Here's the crux, I don't believe Trump and his defenders pitiful denials that they didn't conspire with her and through her the Russians.

But glen believes Trump. He believes that Trump has moral fiber and wouldn't ever collude with Russia.

What Glen believes is Glen's personal problem.

And there's what you believe, and what I believe. Three people and there are only four opinions at that point, but when one adds what Ike believes, add what everyone who is here believes ... , , .... .

It becomes impossible. :|

I worry about what I believe.

Congressman reveals GOP members refused to allow Dems to question Russian ‘spy’ Maria Butina and 30 other witnesses
https://www.rawstory.com/2018/07/congre ... UU.twitter

Quote:
Rep. Mike Quigley (D-IL) revealed Tuesday that Republicans shut down any demands by Democrats to question Maria Butina, who was just indicted by the special counsel’s investigation. But Butina was one of about 30 witnesses that Democrats sought out that Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) and others on the Intelligence Committee denied. The investigation has since been closed by Nunes.

“Let me tell you, she was high on our list on the Democratic side to interview on the House Select Committee Intelligence investigation,” Quigley said, in an interview with CNN’s Don Lemon.

“Really?” he said, shocked.

“The Republicans refused to allow her to come testify,” Quigley continued. “They refused multiple — I would say there’s probably 30 other key witnesses like her that they refused to bring before the committee.”

Lemon asked why and Quigley said that he believes it’s likely for the same reason that the investigation was shut down entirely.

“They didn’t like where it was going,” Quigley continued. “Thank God the [Robert] Mueller investigation continues so the American public can get a glimmer through the indictments last week and this indictment today of just what took place. It is a path towards the White House.”

Adam Schiff says that Democrats on the House Intel Committee wanted to bring Maria Butina and Paul Erickson in for questioning. They were told not to by House Republicans who were worried about “tarnishing” the NRA and President Trump.

Traitors.

Which is great, but unless there are 2 or 3 MILLION of us out there, the media wont notice or care and no matter how many of us rump and putin and GOP dont care.

I dont see how justice is allowed to take place, I just dont see them letting that happen, one way or another.

NRA can now take in BILLIONS from russia and nobody will know where it came from.

Elections will happen in Nov but the outcome wont be what people think. I have said what Malcolm Nance said, add that to Rump openly committing treason add that to my neighbor and yours, your cousin and mine and SIXTY FUCKING MILLION more Americans who support treason and you have an ugly ugly end to it all.

Saw Lieu tweet that the phone call where the traitor admits to conspire to silence the porn star is a felony.

Quote:
As former prosecutors, @RepKathleenRice & I called on the @FBI earlier this year to investigate the payment to silence Karen McDougal as a felony violation of campaign finance laws. Now there's evidence it wasn't just Michael Cohen. @realDonaldTrump was directly involved.
