Texas board votes to eliminate Hillary Clinton, Helen Keller from history curriculum

Broken, disgusting country

Quote:
AUSTIN — History curriculum in Texas remembers the Alamo, but could soon forget Hillary Clinton and Helen Keller.

As part of an effort to "streamline" the social studies curriculum in Texas, the State Board of Education voted on Friday to change what students in every grade are required to learn in the classroom. They voted to remove several historical figures, including Hillary Clinton and Helen Keller.

And they accuse liberals of wanting to erase history.

BTW - like I keep saying - I don't. Confederate generals belong in museums. People should learn about them. That doesn't mean taxpayers have to support monuments honoring them.

That's what I disagree with.

I don't want conservatives taken out of our textbooks.

They both fear and hate Hillary

why do they hate Helen?

Hillary is a better and more capable human being than any 10,000 cons combined, they know it and hate it.

She and Bill do more for those in need in ONE DAY than the entire kushner rump families combined will do in lifetime

Why? It's what you DON'T often learn about Helen Keller from her usual biographies. Yes, she overcame a rare dual sensory disability. But there is more to her story than that.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helen_Keller

A prolific author, Keller was well-traveled and outspoken in her convictions. A member of the Socialist Party of America and the Industrial Workers of the World, she campaigned for women's suffrage, labor rights, socialism, antimilitarism, and other similar causes.

[snip]

She was a suffragette, pacifist, radical socialist, birth control supporter, and opponent of Woodrow Wilson.

[snip]

Keller was a member of the Socialist Party and actively campaigned and wrote in support of the working class from 1909 to 1921. Many of her speeches and writings were about women's right to vote and the impacts of war; in addition, she supported causes that opposed military intervention.[36] She had speech therapy in order to have her voice heard better by the public. When the Rockefeller-owned press refused to print her articles, she protested until her work was finally published.[31] She supported Socialist Party candidate Eugene V. Debs in each of his campaigns for the presidency. Before reading Progress and Poverty, Helen Keller was already a socialist who believed that Georgism was a good step in the right direction.[37] She later wrote of finding "in Henry George's philosophy a rare beauty and power of inspiration, and a splendid faith in the essential nobility of human nature."[38]

[snip]

Keller joined the Industrial Workers of the World (the IWW, known as the Wobblies) in 1912,[35] saying that parliamentary socialism was "sinking in the political bog". She wrote for the IWW between 1916 and 1918. In Why I Became an IWW,[40] Keller explained that her motivation for activism came in part from her concern about blindness and other disabilities:

[snip][end]

Yeah, you can see both why you may not know about her political activities, and why cons want her out of textbooks.

I should know all that, probably did once.

Thanks.

Makes sense now, she was a caring, decent person...yeah, I get it now.

Plus Helen Keller was superior, intellectually, to them, even while missing sight and hearing.

I remember when I was learning to ski years ago. I was feeling sorry for myself because after falling down a few dozen times, every muscle in my body was screaming in pain. :) Then, while waiting my turn on the lift, I saw a woman skiing down the hill with amazing grace and skill. She had only one leg. Instead of hating her, I quit feeling sorry for myself and decided to try harder.

Conservatives hate their betters; they are mentally ill.

She was also a famous Swedenborgian.

If things go down even close to the way I think they will go for Trump, him and his win, will be handled the way Russians dealt with Joseph Stalin after he died.

Who? Who was Joseph Stalin?

Trump has told his backers that his wall is now under construction. Yep, it is being built just as he promised, as I type.

He's pretending that routine fence repair on the already fenced sections is his wall being built. And he's claiming that about twice the amount of money which is actually being spent is being spent.

This has come out, but it hasn't sunk in. It won't sink in until they come to the conclusion that Trump isn't going to save their day for them as he promised.

It's all starting to become unwound, that realization will come to them. That time on high with them came to a close caused by loss or failure for George Bush, John McCain, Mitt Romney, Paul Ryan, Jeff Sessions, and Mitch McConnell.

The stench of failure will sink Trump with his base as well.

I hope you're right, but if they do, I will be surprised.

I think this situation is a lot worse than just Donald Trump and his stupid sycophants. Conservatives really seem to want leaders that lie to them. Something about them is prone to believing not just lies told to them but lies they tell themselves and their children.

Expecting rational thought by irrational people is irrational itself. It does not matter that reality is in direct opposition to what Trump says. His base does not care. The Republican Party, immersed in party over country, goes along with Trump because much of what he bleats dovetails with their own agenda.

Assuming Trump does not resign or is not forced out of office he will run again as he is already campaigning for 2020. Every stump speech he makes for 2018 candidates is in actuality a stump speech for him. We have gone from elections being a twice a year event where campaigning was done fairly close to the election itself to non-stop campaigning all within approximately 30 years.

As for Stalin, yes, the party divorced itself from him as a result of the secret speech. However, imo, if you walked into the home of an average Russian there would be a good chance you would see a picture of Uncle Joe on the wall. Russia had no history of democracy and no democratic institutions thus the people were accustomed to strongmen.
