Protesters arrested as Kavanaugh demonstrations pack Capitol Hill

Quote:
Crowds of activists descend on Capitol Hill

More than 300 protesters were arrested at a US Senate building on Thursday afternoon as crowds of activists descended on Capitol Hill while lawmakers reviewed the FBI's report on the allegations against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

Protesters gathered in the Hart Senate Building atrium after US Capitol Police barricaded the front of the Capitol.

In a statement, US Capitol Police communications director Eva Malecki said that at about 3:30 p.m., 293 people were arrested for unlawfully demonstrating.

Malecki added that around 5:20 p.m., police responded to reports of more demonstrations in the Dirksen Senate Office Building and arrested nine more people for crowding, obstructing or incommoding............

Jesus had a lot of good smack downs. This one in which Jesus tells people to quit bragging about all those supposed good deeds is one of my favorites that I am willing to bet Glen knows as well as I do.

Matthew 7: 21-23, KJV

Point of reference: this also just so happens to be the chapter where Jesus tells the religious zealots of the day eager to find hypocrisy in everyone else: get that log out of your own eye before trying to remove the speck from somebody else's.

Glen's very fond of finding supposed hypocrisies among liberals. Every time I ask hasn't he read Matthew 7 before, though, ... a cacophony of pins dropping...

Yeah but glen is a so-called "Christian" and he was doing to prove what real good guy he is. Now, on the other hand when I talk about working for over 13-Years with the Homeless and at risk of Homeless Population of San Francisco, glen chooses to ignore it. I know what I did and that is way more important than listing the good deeds. glen feeds his ego, I live a value.

I've heard of double log books before. One for you, one for the highway patrol. I don't think it's that uncommon.

The problem as I understand it is that the trucking industry makes demands that driving legally can't satisfy. In other words, same old same old, and then glen says it's socialism for legislation with real teeth and enforcement to keep his shippers honest. Even so, I think it's a lot less crazy now than when the 55 MPH limit enshrined lawbreaking as standard procedure.

I don't get this complaint. Is anybody making you participate? Are you ridiculous for participating?

Glen still defends these views and the people who adhere to them.

Wonder why that is.

You may want to also check the RFL annals for all those times in recent years he has held these same views you're making excuses for, over the Dems, HRC, and BHO like a baseball bat.

:problem:

Can't be trusted.

I think you should also go over my post again. It was not about lying per se, it was about a culture of ignorant dishonesty around what "love" is, and utilizing one's preferred deity as an excuse to mistreat others.

Can't trust anyone Carmen, but but so what??? One can accept them.

I don't want to check the RFL annals, I said this thread is ridiculous, I don't want to further the ridiculousness of it. Especially not when doing so would involves so much excess labor. Would tyre my eyes.

This doesn't tyre my eyes. It's a city in Lebanon, Tyre.

In formula one even the Americans call them tyres. That's how they're referred to in the English version of the rules, and in conversations where English is the lingua franca. This year they're big wide tyres, and they really stick to the road so the drivers that used to pull 4 G's now pull more like 6.

Right now car racing is easier to discuss than the festering sore also known as the Senate.

well well well.

its clearer now that men, mostly white men--isnt all but one pale??--will rule the land.
the white male pols, even the women, all seem to want a lascivious perverted drunken
staggering loud mouth with no sense no taste no sobriety of any kind to sell more beer
for court and country.

women be damned!! respect for women and children be damned!! grope'em grab'em who gives a fuck.
women are for men to paw and get off on, wave their peckers around like its an art show
shove'em in the faces of women and then, and then diminish and demean the little women
for complaining about that filthy peckerwood.

and they want me to respect the rapist.

these pale males from the onset have willingly and determinedly destroyed the natives the land and country
and all the shit the people built for them. the same Land god made for fucking free no less.
god said...here, take it, kill everything, ive got no use for it (bullshit verses 2:12) and so they did.

well then, i say drink up! merica. youve become a short timer and the whole world has watched it happen.

one could go on about the gutless useless cowardly males across "congress" but why bother, we all
know what they are. they know what they are.

2018, the year the mockery of the males commenced.
am i expected to take congress or some high court...purposefully now?
or do i see it for what it is: a gang of affluent money laundering sexual perverts who attempt
to diminish women at every chance while hiding behind a 'court'....and a big table. a really big table.
big enough to play games on while "Rome" sinks in the mud.

2000years plus and nothing has changed. stupid males still fuck shit up.
you go god. get them people to build more pyramids!!!

you gotta laugh at these self important males. their weenies shrink.

Being in New York has major advantages. There's no looking for a parking place when attending street protests. Let the fun begin.

I can't look at the old white guys in the Senate any more. Really. I'm a gentle person, and I don't like the vaguely homicidal urges they stir up.

GOP isnt even pretending he is innocent anymore, they simply have the power.

The party with ONE more seat not only decides EVERYTHING they even decide if something gets voted on AT ALL...and yet the BASHING of dems continues

The cloture vote on the Kavanaugh nomination was 51-49 with Manchin (D) voting YES and Murkowski voting NO. The vote on approving him come tomorrow. Now before anyone start in on Manchin, let's wait and see how he votes on Saturday.

Murkowski's reason for her NO vote was "“He’s not the right man for the court at this time,” she said. “So I have taken my vote here this morning. I’m going to go back to my office and write a floor statement that is more fulsome.” CNN

Collins is still a possible NO vote and if she, Murkowski, and Manchin vote NO then that sinks the Kavanaugh nomination. If only two of the three vote NO then Pence will cast the tie-breaking vote. But just like in the As Seen on TV commercials, there's more when they say BUT WAIT! THERE'S MORE!

Senator Daines of Montana has stated he is walking his daughter down the aisle on Saturday so it's possible he could miss the Senate vote. If he does then that means only two votes would be needed to stop Kavanaugh. Daines has also stated he is trying to arrange transportation to get back to Washington in case his vote is needed. I expect McConnell to delay the vote until Daines is back in Washington.

Manchin in terrible spot, HAS to vote yes if his vote wont really matter, we know and ACCEPT that, but if it comes down to him and he votes no and then LOSES his seat....
fuck me

would rather take my chances with this piece of shit, impeaching him or having some DA somewhere indict him than lose ANY seat

You're right, he's in a tough spot. The last poll on his race , taken mid-September, showed him ahead by 12 points so he may gamble and vote NO and still win.

Impeaching Kavanaugh would be next to impossible as long as there are 34republican Senators.

10 Kavanaugh Scandals That Have Nothing to Do With Sexual Assault--
There’s a lot undermining his suitability for the court aside from claims of drinking and misconduct with women.

https://www.motherjones.com/politics/20 ... -finances/
The Many Mysteries of Brett Kavanaugh’s Finances--
Who made the down payment on his house? How did he come up with $92,000 in country club fees?
...
Before President Donald Trump nominated Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court, he had a lot of debt. In May 2017, he reported owing between $60,004 and $200,000 on three credit cards and a loan against his retirement account. By the time Trump nominated him to the high court in July 2018, those debts had vanished. Overall, his reported income and assets didn’t seem sufficient to pay off all that debt while maintaining his upper-class lifestyle: an expensive house in an exclusive suburban neighborhood, two kids in a $10,500-a-year private school, and a membership in a posh country club reported to charge $92,000 in initiation fees. His financial disclosure forms have raised more questions than they’ve answered, leading to speculation about whether he’s had a private benefactor and what sorts of conflicts that relationship might entail.

During his confirmation hearing last week, he escaped a public discussion of his spending habits because no senator asked about it. But on Tuesday, Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, sent Kavanaugh 14 pages of post-hearing follow-up questions, many of which involved his finances. On Thursday, Kavanaugh supplied answers, but he dodged some of the questions and left much of his financial situation unexplained. ...

A number of the questions Whitehouse sent Kavanaugh dealt with the house he bought in tony Chevy Chase, Maryland, in 2006 for $1.225 million. Kavanaugh would have needed $245,000 in cash for the traditional 20 percent down payment on the house. But in 2005, when his nomination to the DC Circuit was pending, Kavanaugh reported a total net worth to the Senate of about $91,000, which reflected a mere $10,000 in the bank and $25,000 in credit card debt.

So here's the bottom line: Jeff Flake managed to force a sham FBI investigation that has given him
cover to vote for Brett Kavanaugh. Good work.

Sen. Jeff Flake says he plans to vote yes on Kavanaugh

Quote:
.........Flake’s support in a preliminary, procedural vote keeps Kavanaugh on track for his nomination. The Senate decided to move to a final vote by a 51-49 tally Friday that included support from only one Democrat, Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia........

he didnt help this time but at least we can count on manchin in suporting superficial or symbolic things later on

I see Susan Collins has decided to vote yes for much the same reasons as Flake for she is a conservative who supports a conservative Supreme Court. Likely some investigative reporters is not going to be as hamstrung like FBI and get to the bottom of the entire mess and we’ll have a justice guilty of sexual assault but impossible to remove. How much can we bet some we’ll funded investigative group has already started on their investigation

I am anything but happy about this, but MSNBC is reporting that he clearly has enough votes for confirmation.

Therefore, I think we can expect he will be confirmed tomorrow. Stinks like a mule's ass, but it is what it is.

BTW, if you think I have anything bright and sunshiney to say about Joe Manchin at this point - nah, I'm all used up.

Fuck him and the coal train he rode in on.

No Supreme Court justice has been impeached since Samuel Chase, and he wasn't removed from office.

The math doesn't look like Kavanaugh could break that trend.

There may be enough votes for impeachment in the House, but even if November brings a Senate miracle, not enough for conviction in the Senate.

As we discussed a while ago, the SCOTUS filibuster is nuclear ash. (I had forgotten that, but certain bookie types reminded me.)

50 is all ya need. At least as long as Mike Pence is VP, and he is.

It's not a universal matter, it's a specific one.

That said free agents can reject anyone we don't trust.

Anything else is counterintuitive.

The full story is likely going to come out but it will be the Republicans in 2020 with
21 members up for re-election as opposed to 11 Democrats who will pay for naming
a man guilty of sexual assault to the Supreme Court.

Those white males GOP senators include Mitch McConnell with three 80+ years olds
who will be running for re-election. Very likely the senate will be Democratic by 2020
for the next two election cycles heavily favor the Democrats with 42 GOP seats as
opposed the 22 Democratic.

It would be my preference for Joe Manchin to go down this election cycle for its
unlikely the Democrats will win the senate in 2018. Republicans seem to have little
problem allowing their wayward members to lose and perhaps Democrats would be
better off without Joe Manchin.

As has been said here before, and I hope I am wrong, just after noon Saturday, we can blow taps for the death of America, as it is now run by a criminal family that runs all branches of the government and as soon as the SC decides the lawsuit filed by the Utah pile of horse s##t, president 666 wil be immune from any prosecution and all of his friends will also be above all laws. Again I hope the Republicans all burn in hell!!

Manchin's vote is not the deciding vote. He carefully made his announcement after enough of the others had made theirs that he could calculate the end result and found it makes no difference how he chose to vote.

He waited until he knew Daines from Montana had figured out how to be at a wedding and vote too. At that point it didn't matter how he votes.

It's best for the Democratic Party that he not be asked to fall on his own sword for no propose. :|

On edit, I thought I would add this, a bit of history. In midterm waves elections going a long time back, the side who's getting the midterm wave does not lose Senate seats, not even one. Not even when polls have shown them losing before the election.

I don't know if that will save Heidi, but it probably will save Joe.

At this point, in this country it seems to me that most everybody has decided which side they're on. But we are always stuck with somebody who claims to be on the good side of the fight but then makes comments like "One can accept them." Reckon why people like this, particularly those who are Jews, have such a hard time accepting that those on the other side want them dead, or at least gone.

Can we finally put to bed any notion that Susan Collins is not scum?
