I'd like to see what happens to the economy though if Trump Tax Cuts 2.0 gets adopted if the GOP retains control of
both houses of Congress. Historically, its been shown tax cuts do work for a while for they could simply elminate
all taxes for families making over $200k and that would lead to a huge boom to the economy but eventually we'd
have a big recession for voodoo economics isn't sustainable without real fiscal conservatism.

America has much wealth and power scattered among a few, against the impoverished, the poor, the marginalized, the ability to overtake is greatly multiplied but as a whole it cant scrape up the power to protect itself from a trump presidency or kavanaugh appointment, a flint water crises, or migrant kids being concentrated in camps. cant even get indoor plumbing to schoolkids in poor and urban areas whos pipes are poisoning the water. more inequality will lead to more of the same.

Just saw polling, young people wont vote in November.

There's polling and then there is polling. And there is polling which is misinterpreted.

I wonder what you saw. Polling is something I'm just about always interested in. :)

i'd feel dirty copying and pasting anything from there to here.

The Week had a fairly decent run down of what they are trying to pull off....

It really is the best of times and worst of times for the Republican Party. Two years of Trumpism have given the GOP the huge tax cuts and solid Supreme Court majority its members so ardently desired, but those accomplishments have come at a cost: Most Americans disapprove of President Trump's job performance, most Americans disapproved of Brett Kavanaugh's confirmation to the Supreme Court, and most Americans outright despise the Republican-controlled Congress.

Things have gotten so bad that the conservatives have come up with a new nickname for this disapproving majority of the country: "the mob." This nickname is part of a broader conservative strategy to convince Americans that the Constitution's countermajoritarian features — meant to restrain the majority of the country from unduly oppressing minority factions — are actually antimajoritarian features meant to let those minority factions rule. In other words, they're trying to persuade Americans to stop believing in democracy.

The right wingjobs who bother reading anything besides Stormfront, listening to anything but the EIB, and watching anything but FOX know good and goddamn well that by 2025 white christians will no longer be in the majority in this country. Regardless of what happens in the time between now and then, there's nothing they can do to stop it. Unless they decide to go the nazi route, gas and incinerate all the non-white non-christians. I wouldn't necessarily put it past them to make the effort. The fascism of Donald Trump is straight out of the Mussolini fascist playbook of the 1920's. The Hitler fascist genocide playbook of the 1930's wasn't far behind. They're out there...the poster from the perfesser proves it.

PS - isn't it interesting that we never see Joe Memphis in on one of these discussions. He's all over the place when there's an opportuinty to argue the minutae of health care, and the minutae of education, and the minutae of trade, and the minutae of minutae. He's the bull goose loony of minutae. But he's a ghost in these sorts of discussions. WTF is he going to say when his glorious GOP is full of assholes accusing anybody who differs with them as "the mob." WTF is he going to say when the DHS is ripping infants out of the arms of their mothers and locking them in cages? Hiding in the weeds is where he is when the GOP is showing it's true colors.

So people...it's no less a waste of our fucking time debating with Joe Memphis than it is arguing with glen. Tangling you up in the minutae of health care, education, trade, energy, commerce or anything else with a grin on his face, is just Joe fucking you in the ass without even providing the common courtesty of a reach around. I've sat in treatment rooms with a hundred guys like Joe. They're just like Donald. They just live for the next person they can fuck with. The next person who happens to drift by. Don't give him the pleasure, it's all he's in it for.

I've also read reports about racist grafitti at Sac City.

Fliers on 4 college campuses blame Jews for Kavanaugh assault allegations - JTA

Quote:
In a tweet, Oren Segal, director of the Anti-Defamation League Center on Extremism, said the flier appeared on the Vassar campus in Poughkeepsie. The fliers also were found on Monday evening on the campus of Marist College, located in Poughkeepsie, according to music professor Lois Hicks-Wozniak, who said that security informed faculty that a suspect was apprehended in the incident.

— Oren Segal (@orensegal) October 8, 2018

They were found at UC Berkeley, according to a Facebook post by the campus Zionist organization Tikvah: Students for Israel.

In a message to the UC Davis community posted on the university’s website, Chancellor Gary May said “The message on these flyers is reprehensible and does not represent who we are as a community. In addition, the person or persons responsible violated our posting policy.”

He said the fliers have been removed and the university is working to identify who posted them.

Meanwhile, swastikas were drawn on a wooden bulletin board on the campus of Sacramento City College less than a week after racist graffiti was found in a bathroom on campus, the local CBS affiliate reported. Authorities are investigating both incidents as hate crimes.

‘Kill them all’: Racist graffiti found at Sac City College prompts safety concerns - Sac Bee

Quote:
Racist graffiti discovered inside a men’s bathroom at Sacramento City College drew extra outrage as some alleged that the college did not notify its students of the threatening messages in a timely fashion.

The graffiti, which appeared to be written in black marker, included swastikas and hate language using racial slurs, with the words “Kill them all” written in the corner of one mirror. Other messages including “Time 2 fight back” and “#MAGA” on the side of a stall, as photos posted to social media Monday show.

An email sent to students by President Michael Gutierrez on Tuesday says that after “swastikas and hateful, racist language was found in one of our men’s restrooms on campus,” students notified campus officials and the slurs were cleaned off the bathroom surfaces.

SCOTUS Rejects Appeal Of Kavanaugh Ruling That Struck Down Obama EPA Rule

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court is declining to review an environmental ruling written by Brett Kavanaugh in his former role as an appeals court judge.

The justices on Tuesday left in place an August 2017 ruling the new Supreme Court justice wrote that struck down an Obama-era Environmental Protection Agency rule. That rule was intended to limit the release of a class of chemicals that contribute to global warming.

BrettKavanaugh.com is Now a Resource for Sexual Assault Survivors

On Monday, Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh promised to exercise his role on the nation’s high court with “no bitterness” following the brutal confirmation battle in which he was accused of sexual misconduct by multiple women.

Kavanaugh’s paean to non-partisanship doesn’t mean that widespread bitterness, scorn, and acrimony won’t follow his name. It seems, however, that exactly the opposite is true. Quite literally.

There's a petition going around to UNC Chapel Hill alums to make her Distinguished Alumni of the Year. I hope it happens!

Christine Blasey Ford nominated for distinguished alumna award at alma mater - The Hill

Quote:
Christine Blasey Ford, the college professor who accused now-Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh of sexual assault while they were in high school, has been nominated for a distinguished alumna award at her alma mater.

Ford was nominated for the award by a professor at University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, where she earned an undergraduate degree in experimental psychology in 1988.

In a letter obtained by The Hill, Jennifer Ho, a professor in the university’s Department of English and Comparative Literature, said Ford did "something that was extraordinary" earlier this year when "she told the truth about a sexual assault she experienced when she was fifteen years old at the hands of Judge Brett Kavanaugh."

...

Ho dismissed the notion that her nomination of Ford is “about partisan politics” but said it was more about “recognizing that the simple act of speaking one’s truth, especially when that truth involves sexual assault, is an act of bravery.”

“We live in a society that does not believe women,” Ho writes. “The many indignities that women experience in their day-to-day lives is proof of this, as is the continued attacks on Dr. Blasey Ford after her testimony. We know that people who are survivors of sexual assault do not experience justice for their trauma; we know that many of them choose not to report to the police and choose not to reveal their assault out of fear that they will not be believed."

Grassley says he wouldn't consider a Supreme Court nomination in 2020

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) says that his panel wouldn't consider a Supreme Court nomination if a vacancy appeared in 2020, breaking from Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.).

"If I'm chairman they won't take it up," Grassley said when asked during an interview with Fox News's Martha MacCallum if the committee would consider a nomination in the last year of President Trump's current term.

Just saw headline, Chief Roberts ordering investigation into the rapist

My guess is it will be a controlled version of what the FBI did, purposely finding nothing, so they can then pretend all is well.

Birth control? Nope, fuck you, you whined about Hillary.

Kavanaugh took Roberts' yogurt from the SCOTUS fridge before anyone could warn him. Though it's entirely possible RBG set him up.

American Bar Association drops review of Kavanaugh

Washington (CNN)The American Bar Association will no longer review its "well qualified" rating of Justice Brett Kavanaugh now that the Senate confirmed him, an ABA official told CNN Monday.

The official, who declined to speak on the record, cited an ABA policy of ending its rating process once a nominee is confirmed.

Graham: I hope Dems 'get their ass kicked' for conduct around Kavanaugh

Sen. Linsey Graham (R-S.C.) said Tuesday that he hopes Democrats "get their ass kicked" in the November midterm elections for their behavior in the fight over Justice Brett Kavanaugh's confirmation.

"There’s this race before Kavanaugh, there’s 2018 after Kavanaugh," Graham said at an event for the conservative Heritage Foundation. "I hope they get their ass kicked for the way they behaved."

He means that they weren't sufficiently deferential to their betters in life. That's how these people think. They're still stuck in eighteenth century England.
