SEC charges Volkswagen, former CEO with defrauding American bond investors

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Securities and Exchange Commission is charging Volkswagen and former CEO Martin Winterkorn with defrauding American investors during an emissions scandal.

The SEC said that between April 2014 and May 2015 Volkswagen issued more than $13 billion in bonds and asset-backed securities in U.S. markets when senior executives knew that more than 500,000 vehicles in the country grossly exceeded legal vehicle emissions limits.

This emissions scandal is like herpes, the gift that keeps on giving, for current and former Volkswagen management.

And because they are a company, the chances any human(s) who knew, but did nothing, or made the decision concerning VW falsifying its vehicle's emission won't spend one day in jail. The company will be given a fine and a stern look from the judge. Meanwhile, people are spending years in jail for possession of marijuana.
