Wisconsin vs. Michigan fight: Juwan Howard strikes coach amid mayhem after Badgers beat Wolverines

Mayhem erupted after No. 15 Wisconsin took care of Michigan 77-63 on Sunday in Madison, Wisconsin. What began as an intense post-game handshake line exchange between Michigan coach Juwan Howard and Wisconsin coach Greg Gard quickly escalated to an all-out brawl that involved players and coaches from both teams.

The madness broke out shortly after the final horn when Gard confronted Howard, who appeared to be slow to enter the handshake line, just near the scorer's table. Gard physically stopped Howard from moving past him and the two exchanged words before tensions rose in a hurry.

This is very bad for Juwan. There is no justification for his actions and he will be lucky if he keeps his job after this incident.

I hope he can learn from his mistake, but there must be consequences for his actions.

This isn't his first time, I don't want to see what he does next. He should not be coaching.

But then Tampa Bay Bucs coach Bruce Arians hit a player and got a $50,000 fine, which sounds bad, except that it's less than a week's wages for him. A drop in the bucket for an $8 million a year coach.

So, it's about power and winning, and what you can get get away with.

That is not exactly what happened.
The Wisconsin coach simply grabbed Howard's elbow in a non aggressive non challenging manner.
The way people often do. Howard got mad and started thumping the Wisconsin coach in the chest. Again not in an aggressive way. More in a let me tell you something manner.
Shortly there after Howard lost his temper and punched someone in the face.
Howard should be fired at the worse given a 6 month suspension at the least.
Personally I think he will be given a chance to resign.
Sidebar Michigan was probably going to fire him anyway. He isn't a bad coach but is not producing up to UM standards

Why? Assault is assault. Coaches should assault anyone. Right?

Michigan’s Juwan Howard suspended rest of regular season after hitting Wisconsin coach

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Michigan basketball coach Juwan Howard has been suspended for the final five games of the regular season after he struck a Wisconsin coach in the head following his team’s loss to the Badgers this weekend.

Michigan’s final five regular-season games remaining before the Big Ten Tournament are at home against Rutgers, Illinois, Michigan State and Iowa, and on the road at Ohio State. They still have plenty of work to do if they want to make the NCAA Tournament.

Howard's job might not be in as much jeapoardy as I first thought because he did not throw a punch. It was more of an open-handed mush to the face

Still far from acceptable.

But, probably not a career ender.

5 games seems appropriate.

In November Michigan gave him a Five year extension.
