Supreme Court Will Hear Biggest Climate Change Case in a Decade

Post by Libertas »

From a NYT article in today's (2/28/22) paper:
"...Mr. Biden’s climate legislation is stalled on Capitol Hill and could collapse if Republicans win control of one or both houses of Congress in this fall’s midterm elections."

The court could handcuff President Biden’s climate change agenda — and restrict federal agencies from enacting new regulations governing health, workplace safety and more.
GOP again trying to kill the human race, what's else is new. Imagine if these assholes used all this time and energy to try and HELP the human race instead of kill it!

A decision by the high court, with its conservative supermajority, could shred President Biden’s plans to halve the nation’s greenhouse emissions by the end of the decade, which scientists have said is necessary to avert the most catastrophic impacts of climate change.

“They could handcuff the federal government’s ability to affordably reduce greenhouse gases from power plants,” said Michael Oppenheimer, a professor of geosciences and international affairs at Princeton University.
I sigh in your general direction.

The Republicans have been awfully silent on activist courts lately. They used to be against them, when they had a perceived "liberal bias." They said justice should be blind, and all that.

Now that they have packed the courts, they're apparently not as altruistic.
