This brave girl here in the city has convinced two legislators to come up with a Wolf-Pac resolution hopefully they'll speed it up before the GOP takes over the NYS Senate in Jan.

Re: Wolf-Pac News
WolfPac in New York State is reaching out to people in hick-towns like mine. I'm working on forming alliances - baby steps. I have a couple of friends in the state legislature - I mean, people I actually know (they may not be friends).
Hoping that my fellow WolfPac members can offer some suggestions as to how I can get back in the swing of things up here. This is truly a grass-roots effort and I think it spans party affiliation.
Proud to be a Wolf!

I sent an email to Tim Kennedy to support a resolution to ban money he's one of the sponsors. Make that 2 NY Wolves to be proud.

Re: Wolf-Pac News
Yes! That's what I want, ap215! Tim Kennedy is your representative in the Finger Lakes region, yes? My ex-husband and his wife and family also live in that area and as far as I know, they'd be very supportive of this movement. We're great friends, despite what some might think of divorced couples.ap215 » Tue Dec 16, 2014 5:40 pm wrote:I sent an email to Tim Kennedy to support a resolution to ban money he's one of the sponsors. I'm so out of the loop up here in St. Lawrence County (also part of the 23rd Congressional District - the largest in the states). This county persistently goes Republican, but I would wager that a fair amount of residents would just love to get money out of politics.
What are you doing in your own area and how can I connect with WolfPAC members in other parts of New York State?
Vermont, California and Illinois. Why not every other state?

Call me Sallie, that's what my friends call me (probably 'cause that's my name). I know that there's somebody on this board who lives in the Finger Lakes region. Maybe we can coerce him to come forth. St. Lawrence County is a dreadful hotbed of Republicans. It wasn't always this way, but it's gotten this way in the years I've been gone.ap215 » Tue Dec 16, 2014 7:50 pm wrote:Wow that's interesting. Big thrust up here in the 23rd Congressional District is Fort Drum. Everything's about saving the jobs at Fort Drum. I saw the same thing in the San Antonio area - we must save our military bases. Sorta hard to be anti-war in an area that depends so heavily on war.

Huge boost for Wolf-Pac & to get money out of politics
States meet to amend U.S. Constitution, bypass federal government
Six states passed resolutions in 2014 to completely circumvent Congress to amend the U.S. Constitution. But here’s the shocker: Three states have Republican-controlled legislatures, and the other three are run by Democrats in both chambers.

Re: Wolf-Pac News
That's why I think this is definitely a bi-partisan issue. Whether you're a Republican who wants to get the money out of politics because you think it supports unworthy candidates, or you're a Democrat who wants to get the money out of politics because you think it supports unworthy candidates, We want to get the $$$$$$$$$ out of it!
More than eight years ago, I watched a documentary: Can Mr. Smith Get to Washington Anymore? Frank Popper followed the 2004 campaign of Jeff Smith, a young political science instructor at Washington University who was running for the seat vacated by Dick Gephardt.
More than eight years ago, people were concerned about the power of money in elections - and even prior to election, in the process of anointing candidates to represent their party. It's only become worse with the Citizens United verdict of the SCOTUS.
No, this isn't a partisan effort. It's one that the proverbial everyman can support.

my dear, here smack dab in the middle of republican country, mistrust, fear, and hatred for anything "activist", folks here wont be pushing for anything so radical, as they are STILL crying over the safe act, and now, the ban on fracking.cqsallie » December 16th, 2014, 8:00 pm wrote:

HOWEVER, just a half hour away in the radical liberal agenda bastion AKA Ithaca/Tompkins county (tom reed country), i hear that
there are people highly motivated and are pushing for Wolf-Pac action but i am not an activist or involved in this activity.

Re: Wolf-Pac News
I got an email with a conference-call number, but couldn't participate 'cause of my current physical disability - fractured wrist, right arm in a cast and a damned itty-bitty flip-top cell. Takes me 15 minutes to post three sentences, but I'm getting better with the one finger system here.
Haven't heard anything in weeks. Any news from New York?
