Urgle. We literally will be putting the Dark Side in charge of Star Wars.

Huh. It's Disney buying Fox (if it goes through and is allowed), not the other way around.

Look, never been crazy about either company, especially about Rupert Murdoch, of course, and don't tend to like mergers.

Potential upside (well, only if you care, I guess) :D :

All of Star Wars - the past films as well as the stuff in the present - is under one roof. 1-9 boxsets (yes, I know they are about to release 8 and aren't even working on 9 yet) here we come. Downside: what is this going to mean for #9 and anything else they plan to do (like, say, another Rogue One or a solo Han Solo).

Marvel MCU reacquires the rights to Fantastic Four and X-Men. In the former case, looks to me like a good thing. In the latter - I'm not sure. The X-Men films have been hit or miss after the first one, but I've really liked the last two. No offense, but none of the Spider-Mans have been as good as Sam Raimi's first trilogy, just MHO.

I think these guys are right. Would the merger of Fox and Disney allow edgier films like Deadpool or Logan? Looks like no - and that will staunch creativity. There's definite downside.
