Some may accept SS as the "law of the land" but you betcha by golly wow those that were demanding a loyalty oath from the Democrats don't think so. i'll betcha they can tell ya all about that Commie FDR.
Strange in that the lawmakers who protest Social Security the most are the ones who don't need it.

Dunno, from what I see half of them are probably drawing SS. Though they also get a nice pension. They're not worried about money. That's our job.

I can't watch C-SPAN any more except for the times when they broadcast debacles like the 15 ballots for Speaker without the punditry you endure everywhere else. The House makes me too angry, and I'm already scared enough what with Covid and the situation in LA to also be angry on top of it. If I watched the House every day I'd probably shoot myself.

The "socialist" government also supplies the GOP house with their free healthcare, paid for by the taxpayer while a good portion of them hardly seem to work, spending most of their time mapping out insurrection, traveling around the country, or doing silly fascist podcasts.

You noticed that too, huh? No Physician Heal Thyself here. Getting elected to Congress is the ultimate Get Out Of Rational Discourse Free Card. You can even talk about Jewish Space Lasers.

My offer on consultation for a resolution banning The Secret Nikola Tesla Death Ray is still open. My fee is rather high, but worth it.

Congressional members get a salary of $174,00 a year. To get a pension, they have to have five years of service before they become vetted in a pension. Their pension, for most of them, is 1.7% times the number of years they served. So if a representative served 10 years, their pension would be $29,580. That's better than what most people make on Social Security.

Eligibility for a Congressional pension is based on age and number of years of service. These are:
62 years of age and five years of service
50 years of age and 20 years of service
25 years of service regardless of age.

But on the other hand, when a member of Congress leaves that job they usually land a high paying job because they were in Congress and have contacts that are invaluable to their new employer.

Their healthcare insurance isn't free in that they have to pay healthcare premiums to a health insurance company they chose from the healthcare insurance exchange.

Now, if the republicans were truly against socialism then they'd be going after the military which is the largest, socialized sector of American life.

Never known a Congress critter to be hurting financially.

But go right on banning Socialism, whatever that is, for people who are hurting.

And the criterion seems to be that Socialism leads to autocratic government. Hmmmm, you mean like the Republican Party seems to be advocating? Palling around with Putin and hanging with plutocrats?

Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. If Radio Moscow had been that good at bullshitting people, there'd not only still be a USSR, but we'd be in it.

That said, America is supposed to be the land of the free, where things like socialism, communism, capitalism, and other isms and the right to agree or disagree with those ideas, are protected under the 1A. Are they not?

And George Santos said the reason he ran for Congress was for the pension.

They use Socialism as a shinning object held in front of people's eyes to distract them from what they're really doing. Have you ever seen someone do the Three-card Monte? The guy handling the cards will be talking to distract the player from closely watching the cards.

You don't even know what socialism is. The U.S. military is an excellent example of socialism and since you are against socialism that mean you are against the U.S. military. Why do you hate our military.

No it doesn’t.

To the right it’s just a slur to demonize people who believe in a social safety net.

Yeah, true dat. Just shows that Greengrass doesn’t have a clue about history.

Maybe he got his history of socialism from Monty Python and the Holy Grail. https://youtu.be/t2c-X8HiBng

We get SO upset by someone saying "woke" but not by the middle class being driven into poverty by a handful of egomaniacs with antisocial personality disorders. Humans are such easy prey.

Glenn, obviously the answer to your problem is to pass a law that anyone saying "woke" is taken into custody and shot. Get to work. You know which Congress members to contact. Have your checkbook out.

No, that's anarcho-syndicalism. ;-)

Though Glenn wouldn't know the difference. Hell, Boebert and McCarthy don't know the difference, and they run the fricken House.
