I don't know who the driver was. I suggested not making dialogue or eye contact with any of the other customers. Whoever it was, I did not want to in any way engage with them.

You could be forgiven for thinking this country is going insane.

As I said, I think the whole book is largely talking about events in the 1st century, or things that John of Patmos thought would take place shortly thereafter.

We have a guy hailed as the new Christ, who is very obviously the exact opposite of Christ, the anti Christ. And a bunch of false prophet "Christians" misleading their flock. We know the author of the book of Revelation. Granted, like most people back then, he didn't have a "last name". He was identified by where he lived.

Since he lived on the isle of Patmos, his name was ... John of Patmos. The authors of the Gospels do not give their names. In fact, that they were written by people named Luke, Mark, etc. is basically a 2nd century guess. The author of the Fourth Gospel does not give his name either, he (?) just says his (?) name is the Beloved Disciple, and he is the only one who claims he knew Jesus while he was alive and the other apostles.

John gives you his name in his Revelation.

There were many attempts by Church Fathers to claim he was the same "John" as figures mentioned elsewhere in the NT, but this really doesn't seem to work as indeed he was writing around 90 CE. They would have been long dead. He says he was exiled to the isle of Patmos by the Roman Emperor Domitian, who reigned 81-96 CE. John/"Yochanan" like Yeshua was a very common name back then.

You know why this has served a lot of people throughout history who have said his prophecies are coming true in their own time. But, look people, when have war, famine, and plague NOT been part of human history. And yeah, people die. But seriously, the Preterist interpretation of Revelation is the one supported by the most evidence. What John is claiming he thinks will happen, are going to happen soon, and his future apocalyptic war is going to be against the Roman Empire.
