Trump lied again. He's not going to speak to UAW union workers - he's going to a non-union feeder plant - one with a long history of mistreatment by management.

Canadian autoworkers ratify new labor agreement with Ford

Canadian autoworkers ratified a new labor agreement with Ford Motor Co. on Sunday, averting a threatened strike and potentially setting a precedent that could play out in the United Auto Workers’ strike at automaker facilities in the U.S.

The new agreement raises base hourly pay for production workers by almost 20% over three years, and by more than 25% for trade workers, the Canadian autoworker union Unifor said. It also gives permanent workers a $10,000 bonus and adds a cost-of-living adjustment, a mechanism that adjusts wages in line with inflation.

Trump is playing working-class conservatives for chumps. Well, it worked on Glenn, I guess. Now he's promising to make the RICH. https://www.rawstory.com/trump-autoworkers/
"He has been a complete disaster for all Autoworkers in the U.S., so much do that with his warped plan & mind, their won’t be any Autoworkers left in 3 years," Trump added.

"He is destroying our Country, and likewise, destroying the United Autoworkers. When he slowly walks to pretend he is a 'picket,' REMEMBER, HE WANTS TO TAKE YOUR JOBS AWAY AND GIVE THEM TO CHINA AND OTHER FOREIGN COUNTRIES. TURN YOUR BACK ON THIS CORRUPT AND HIGHLY INCOMPETENT PRESIDENT, BY FAR THE WORST IN THE HISTORY OF THE UNITED STATES, AND SHOUT OUT TO YOUR UNION LEADERSHIP TO ENDORSE DONALD J. TRUMP. I WILL KEEP YOUR JOBS AND MAKE YOU RICH!!!"
Now, he promises to immediately make peace between Russia and The Ukraine if elected. But he's a private citizen, the automakers are private companies, and the UAW is a private entity.

So why doesn't he offer to mediate the contract RIGHT NOW and end the strike?

After all, he says he will make auto workers RICH. Well, let's see him do it.

Glenn always comes up with this when something Biden does is wildly popular with Americans.

Not a good idea, when you’re trying to appeal to striking union workers, to go to a non-union shop to do it.

What makes you believe that Biden walking a picked line is wildly popular with Americans?

You said Biden walking the picket line was widely popular.
Not that the majority of Americans support the strikes

Well, if it’s not popular, why did you ask about it being a campaign stop?

Supporting what the American people supports is a popular thing.

Because it was an obvious campaign stop designed to help Biden pick up support from labor.

Toonces wrote: Sun Sep 17, 2023 11:24 am A question does remain.

Should the workers take less in pay or the company take less in profit?

If Ford wanted to sell a comparable vehicle to a comparable price of Toyota, should the workers take less or shareholders? Explain your answer.

This isn't intended to be a gotcha, I'm genuinely curious as to why someone believes it is the workers who should take less.

Would people also agree that we've become more profit-centric in the last 50 years? Think of wages as they relate to costs between now and, say, 1950. Wages as to the prices of houses.
The workers should be paid a fair wage for a fair days work. One of the problems with our unionized auto workers is a 35pct absentee rate.

Now expecting to get paid 15pct more for 25 pct less work is ridiculous. ( a 40pct raise coupled with a 32 hour work week)

However having a two tier payscale is also unfair.

What I believe we are going to see is the union getting a huge win. Followed by jobs being relocated to foreign countries.

Ford has already stopped building the battery factory in Michigan. Because of the Union ridiculous demands.

The difference between us is I have no problem saying that Trump is not qualified to be president and other than Bernie Sanders is the worst person we could have in office.

While you ignore the fact that Biden is not mentally capable of serving another term and should not be your parties nominee.
