American trucker fascist protest

It's not being hyped by the media at all, well, except for the right-wing media. The mainstream media is saying it's what is being threatened, but noting that there's no proof that it is going to happen at all.

The right-wing media are the ones saying they're going to shut the city down.

After Jan 6th, those who would actually put their asses on the line to get arrested, realizes that their leaders - the right wing politicians and media, won't lift a finger or give them a dime to defend themselves in court - don't have their back, they're not going to take any chances. Trump promised them pardons, and left them fluttering in the wind.

One thing about conservatives, they usually have their own best interests at heart. They'll scream on Parler or whatever, but they won't take any chances of going to jail or even to spend a dime of their own money to protest. I think this will be DOA.

So what was the last protest you went to that wasn't job related

Last October. A reproductive rights rally. What a stupid fucking question. I told you about it at the time.

I've went to protests my whole life. You never have at all. You've never went to a political meeting, event, or rally. You've never given a dime to a political cause, to a party, to a candidate.

Our phones have the capability to use GPS maps, there are GPS navigation units, and many newer vehicles have built-in GPS systems (subscription) so getting lost takes some work. I have a Garmin unit as well as my phone and if either or both are down I have a Thomas Brothers guide under my car seat.

My car, which was made quite a few years ago now, and which was designed to get you places very rapidly on der Autobahn which has NO speed limit, as opposed to getting you and the kids around city streets, still has a very nice GPS map built in. I also have the Garmin unit which has differential GPS, or had it until the ground stations were decommissioned a couple of years ago when WAAS came online, and which will get you around the city quite nicely.

Anyone who can't find their way on freeways and Interstates in anything made in the past 20 years is not trying hard enough.

Every so often Glenn is right about something, and his big-rig trucker view of the situation seems like the right one. Professionals don't do these charades. You won't see Hollywood above the line writers and producers marching on DC anytime soon either. Bring in the production managers from DGA, and it would be the best-organized protest in history. There would be a place to pee, that's for sure. Never happen, though.

I lived two blocks off the beltway, and went three exits over to get to work, which was right off of the beltway too. It was no big deal, but then, before that I lived in the DFW area, which was just as bad. The BAD part was going downtown DC. I learned quickly - or rather slowly, spending 2-3 hours to get home in what would be a 20 minute drive, to take the Metro downtown when I needed to go.
