In 2000, during this time of year it seemed this bad in the Pacific Northwest. I drove a truck up from California on I-5 to Portland, then picked my way to Spokane on two lane highways, then on through Idaho to the Montana and the Bitterroot valley. It seemed like the whole world had been on fire, was on fire, or was about to be on fire.

Some times it seemed like the winds were going to blow my truck off of the road. Smoke and ash. Lots a places blackened. Someone told me there were 7,000 fires across Washington, Idaho, and Montana. There was plenty of damage.

It wasn't as bad as it is this year, but it seemed as bad because no one was used to it, like we are now after 20 years of each year being worse than the previous years.

The degree of terror seems about the same from year to year.

2002 was a real terror year for the Four Corners states, fire and dry, dry and fire. I drove through that and saw the results as they were happening as well. It seemed like the whole world had been on fire, was on fire, or was about to be on fire.

Democrats back away from quick reversal of Trump tax cuts

Democrats are backing away from vows to reverse President Trump’s tax cuts if they take control of the Senate and White House.

Senate Democrats had suggested they could move quickly on the issue, but now say they are likely to delay stand-alone tax legislation if Democratic nominee Joe Biden is elected president and their party controls the House and Senate.

Yeah, that would be a real problem, what with Joe’s promise that no one making less than $400,000 would have a tax increase.

Trump Campaign Hiding Payments To Top Adviser Embroiled In Child Support Battle

WASHINGTON – Donald Trump’s reelection campaign is hiding what it pays a top adviser who claims he speaks to the president daily and who is embroiled in a long-running dispute with a former lover over how much child support he can afford to pay.

Jason Miller, who joined the reelection team in late spring after having worked on Trump’s 2016 bid and who served as an informal adviser to him since 2017, has not once appeared in the 2020 campaign’s filings on its expenses with the Federal Election Commission. Also absent from the filings is Miller’s firm, SHW Partners LLC, for which he describes himself as a “principal.”

This is totally out of line

Seattle mayor says Barr's suggestions to charge her are 'chilling'

(CNN) Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan on Wednesday said a report that Attorney General William Barr suggested prosecutors consider filing charges against her is "chilling and the latest abuse of power from the Trump administration."

Barr, The New York Times reported, asked prosecutors in the Justice Department's civil rights division to investigate if they could charge Durkan as a result of protests this summer, when some protesters established a police-free zone in downtown Seattle.

Pennsylvania Supreme Court hands down three rulings which will favor Biden and Democrats. First, it allows the state to count absentee ballots received up to three days after the election. Second, they allowed more ballot drop boxes. Third, Green Party candidate Howie Hawkins was dropped from the ballot because the Green Party hadn't followed proper procedures when submitting his nomination forms to get on the ballot.

In one ruling, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court rejected a request from Democrats to allow third-party groups and organizations to collect and turn-in ballots, also known as ballot harvesting.
In a sweeping victory for Democrats, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court issued three significant rulings Thursday that extended the deadline for absentee ballots, allowed more ballot drop boxes and removed the Green Party candidate from the presidential ballot.

Thursday's court decisions essentially set the ground rules for the general election. One of the more significant changes set by the court on Thursday is allowing election officials to count absentee ballots received up to three days after the election, if they are postmarked by Election Day. The change means that thousands of Pennsylvanians whose votes would've been rejected for arriving after Election Day will now be counted.

In a 5-2 decision, the top Pennsylvania state court ruled that Green Party candidate Howie Hawkins hadn't followed proper procedures when submitting his nomination forms to get on the ballot.

Trump Calls It A ‘Beautiful Thing’ That Cops Struck Journalist Ali Velshi With Rubber Bullet

President Donald Trump called it “the most beautiful thing” that MSNBC journalist Ali Velshi was struck in the knee with a rubber bullet while he was covering a peaceful protest in Minneapolis in May.

Trump inexplicably deemed it “law and order” as a campaign rally crowd in Minnesota cheered him on Friday. Velshi was breaking no law — nor were protesters — when he was injured by police.

Yep we'll be seeing much of this for the next 6 weeks

It has begun; In Virginia, MAGA supporters block a voting entrance and then stay within 40 ft

It is true, for those who are skeptical… and reported here by Blue Virginia.

Thanks, commenter jazzed for the confirmation and more:
