:problem:

You get your photos from Snooze Smacks?

You still haven't said what a "Bush-Clinton Democrat" is supposed to be.

Don't understand that statement. Bernie described himself as a socialist. That doesn't mean he is a system, it identifies an ideological position.

And, I think she was reacting to Sanders describing himself as a socialist during the campaign. Which he wasn't.

In reality, both are - were - capitalists. However, I would describe Clinton as a centrist capitalist, and Sanders as a social-democratic capitalist. Differences more of degree than kind. (There's room for people in the middle of those two positions, as well.)

https://www.theatlantic.com/internation ... sm/471630/

Let us start at the well of the socialist renewal, the Vermont senator. Sanders, as everyone knows, calls himself a “democratic socialist.” The word “democratic” is fundamental here, because historically socialism has not, typically, come about as a result of free and fair elections. In most socialist countries, like the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic where your humble author was born, socialism was imposed at the point of a gun. Sanders, therefore, is wise to distance himself from the socialists of yesteryear and insist that socialism in America should be chosen, freely and fairly, by the electorate.

As many of Sanders’s supporters have repeatedly and rightly pointed out, socialism is not communism. In fact, for most of the 20th century, socialism was understood to be a halfway house between capitalism and communism. The latter was a utopian vision of the future characterized by classless, stateless, and moneyless communal living. Strictly speaking, therefore, no communist country was ever “communist”—not even the Soviet Union (a.k.a., the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics).

What then was socialism? Socialism was an economic system where the means of production (e.g., factories), capital (i.e., banks), and agricultural land (i.e., farms) were owned by the state. In some socialist countries, like Poland, small privately owned farms were allowed to operate. In other countries, like Yugoslavia, small mom-and-pop shops also remained in private ownership. Strict limits on private enterprise limited accumulation of wealth and supposedly provided for a relatively high degree of income equality.

Two important caveats need to be kept in mind. First, lack of private enterprise resulted in low economic growth and, consequently, low standards of living. Thus, while income equality was relatively high (if party bosses and their cronies were excluded from the calculations), people in Soviet-bloc countries were much poorer than their counterparts in the West. Nobody has yet figured out a way of combining genuine socialism with high rates of growth over a long period of time.

Second, top members of the communist parties, which ran socialist countries, were generally exempted from limits on wealth accumulation. As such, communist leaders from Josip Broz Tito in Yugoslavia to Kim Il Sung in North Korea enjoyed luxuries unimaginable to the rest of the populace. Most importantly, top members of the government were above the law. They could not be accused, arrested, or convicted of ordinary or even extraordinary crimes (e.g., Stalin, Mao, and Pol Pot). As such, inequality of status between the governing class and the governed masses in socialist countries was as great, if not greater, as it was under feudalism.

[snip]

Sanders is not a typical socialist. Sure, he believes in a highly regulated and heavily taxed private enterprise, but he does not seem to want the state to own banks and make cars. Considering the negative connotations of “socialism” in America, it is a bit of a puzzle why Sanders insists on using that word. It would be much less contentious and more correct if he gave his worldview its proper name: not “democratic socialism,” which implies socialism brought about through a vote, but social democracy.

In a social democracy, individuals and corporations continue to own the capital and the means of production. Much of the wealth, in other words, is produced privately. That said, taxation, government spending, and regulation of the private sector are much heavier under social democracy than would be the case under pure capitalism.

[snip][end]

Accurate terminology matters. As a social democrat, Sanders accepted reformed, regulated, socialized capitalism. I guarantee you his poll numbers would not have been as good if he ran as an actual socialist ... he didn't.

It's all adorable. The adoring affections between the Clintons and the Bushes. Despite how much this thread's childish disrupters piss their diapers. Embrace it, Bush Clinton Democrats! Stop pretending that it doesn't exist.

The Senator pushed forward with the Workplace Democray Act. Regardless how much the Trump Republican Congress will snuff it out, it doesn't hurt to keep pressure on them for denying what common people of our nation needs the most.

by Danielle Paquette May 9 at 11:30 AM
Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) announced a plan Wednesday that he says will lift the nation's lagging wages by restoring power to unions and protecting workers in the gig economy — both top items on the labor movement’s wish list.

The Workplace Democracy Act, co-sponsored by Sens. Kirsten Gillibrand (N.Y.), Kamala Harris (D-Calif.), Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and 10 other Democrats, would make it easier for workers to organize, supporters say.

The bill would allow employees to form a union by a majority sign-up process, rather than an election (which proponents say heightens the risk of employer meddling); require companies to negotiate with a new union within 10 days of receiving a request; mandate that workers in every state pay some dues to unions that represent them; and expand the law’s definition of “employer,” a hotly debated term as the country’s contractor workforce expands.

nothing wrong with people getting along and seeing each other as human

Yes, nothing wrong with people getting along with people. As long as they are truly sincere towards other people.
I still find myself amazed with the placement of Mr Clinton in that photo. He should have been placed next to his wife like Mr and Mr Obama and Mr and Mrs Bush Jr were to each other. His hand could have then been touching the shoulder of Mr Bush Sr. I'm sure that there hasn't been any bad feelings between the Clintons and Bushes. Possibly Mr Clinton simply didn't want to stand next to Mr Obama.

Another reminder. How adorable is this photo? VERY! The Bush-Clinton Democrats will remain strong in history.

Senator Sanders, like President Carter, has the heart and soul of humanitarians. One would have to believe that if he were much younger, the Senator would never get elected as president standing up for innocent people struggling so hard for a simple life.

Bernie Sanders condemns IDF reaction to Gaza riots

"Do you believe, as many human-rights groups — American, Israeli, Palestinian, European — are saying, that the IDF snipers shooting kids, people in wheelchairs, are those war crimes?" asked Hasan.

"Those are terrible actions," Sanders said, while stopping short of calling them war crimes. "Instead of applauding Israel for its actions, Israel should be condemned. Israel has a right to security, but shooting unarmed protesters is not what it is about."

Did you see where his son was attacking the D party again?

Between the two, if they get their way, the entire House, Senate, WH And SC will be republicans.

Bernie Sanders just couldnt get over how much he and his Russian or Soviet friends had in common way back during that fateful honeymoon.

I realize some ACTUAL progressive liberals that are friends of mine dont like my position on Bernie but I cant keep silent about it anymore, not that I have really kept silent.

I know who is who and who is doing what, Bernie aint the only one. It is real bad, too.

And even if the cast of assholes I refer to are NOT directly working for Russia, they MIGHT as well be given the OUTCOME of MORE republicans in office.

For instance if you do NOT want more GOP in office, what is the LAST fucking thing you would do now?

What's with the attacking the party dude?

https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news ... ple-are-at

Quote:
Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders accused national Democratic Party leaders of “misreading where the American people are at” ahead of midterm elections in November.

Now I know why you do this, you do it to HARM the D party and help the GOP if it wont help YOU. I just hope others have figured it out. More to come I am sure, right Bernie?

BTW, Sanders will run as a Democrat in the Vermont Senate primaries, then he will refuse the Democratic party nomination in the general, where he will run as an Independent in the VT general election.

This BTW is not new, he's done it twice before.
https://www.politico.com/story/2018/05/ ... ont-601844

I should note the VT Democratic party is onboard with this. As they have been in the past. The party elsewhere ... ;)

He will face two Democratic opponents in the primary, which in all likelihood due to lack of name recognition and incumbency, he will crush ...
Folasade Adeluola
Jon Svitavsky, a homelessness activist

BTW, there seems to be a weird discrepancy between Ballotopedia and Wikipedia.
Balo says nobody is running in the Republican primary; Wiki says Jasdeep Pannu has declared, and so has Edward Gilbert, Jr. Balo lists Jasdeep as belonging to a different "Peoples' Party".

It's almost certain, even if there is a Republican nominee, Sanders will trounce him. Both seem relative unknowns as well.

He refuses the Democratic Party nomination after running for it.

In 2020 if he runs for President I'm going to refuse him. :|

He can bank on it.

I think he's doing a great job as VT Senator, and ... won't bother me if he's re-elected there. This gimmick he's doing isn't new. I believe I've already made known my position on him running in 2020. I think it's better if he stays in the Senate.

BTW, though, will I again be attacked as an anti-Bernie corporate Bushicrat if I mention his primary opponents?

This is Folasade Adeluola.

Image

There's little or nothing at Ballotpedia, she has no campaign web page, AFAICT, just a presence at Twitter. Also Facebook and Linkedin.

Oh wait. I found something that looks like a campaign web page. :D

https://www.politicalbank.com/find-cand ... -us-senate

She appears to be Nigerian-American.

Here's John Svitavsky.

Image

He's an homelessness activist, fights for the rights of the homeless. His campaign page also seems based on Facebook. Been some articles about him.

They don't stand a snowball's chance in hell, name recognition, incumbency, and national profile, but anyway, that's who they are.

Note that Bernie doesn't have to run as a Dem in the Dem primary, but him doing so makes sure he eliminates people like these two in the primaries so they won't be in the general. Never let it be thought Bernie lacks political instincts.

I just saw a headline:

Bernie Sanders Is Losing Primary Battles, But Winning A War

Oh's really, losing but winning. A nauseating NPR article. Blaw and blather! :(

There's a reason I tend to ignore that source. :|

Big thread on that one over there.

Bros are finally again admitting that if dems want their votes we better kiss their ass. Personally I want to kick their ass.

But I am an older man and not physically up to it, but it is gonna happen one way or another eventually, there is GONNA be trouble. How can there not be, on one side you have people gladly supporting treason and on the other a group demanding their way or the highway even if it means traitor in the WH.

Something is wrong that we are not in the streets.

I didnt like standing in the rain for 2 hours a few weeks ago when Parkland kids asked me to, but I did. Time again.

With an eye on Bernie Sanders, the Democratic National Committee adopts new restrictions for 2020 presidential candidates - Yahoo News

Quote:
The new rule would force candidates in Democratic presidential primaries to state that they are Democrats, accept the party’s nomination if they win the 2020 primary and to “run and serve” as a member.

“At the time a presidential candidate announces their candidacy publicly, they must publicly affirm that they are a Democrat,” the rule says. “Each candidate pursuing the Democratic nomination shall affirm, in writing, to the National Chairperson of the Democratic National Committee that they: A. are a member of the Democratic Party; B. will accept the Democratic nomination; and C. will run and serve as a member of the Democratic Party.”

No coat-tailers, in other words.

I enjoyed seeing this headline, Sanders thanks Rodman for being ‘helpful’ in North Korea. I enjoy the confusion, I know that headline refers to Sarah Huckabee Sanders, but many people just glance at headlines and it leaves a glancing impression.

Sanders say's this, Sanders say's that, "Sanders say's" is in fifty headlines a week.

Love it! :D
