Russian-funded Facebook ads backed Stein, Sanders and Trump - Politico

Really, is anybody surprised?

Quote:
Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein was the beneficiary of at least one of the Russian-bought political ads on Facebook that federal government officials suspect were intended to influence the 2016 election.

Other advertisements paid for by shadowy Russian buyers criticized Hillary Clinton and promoted Donald Trump. Some backed Bernie Sanders and his platform even after his presidential campaign had ended, according to a person with knowledge of the ads.

The pro-Stein ad came late in the political campaign and pushed her candidacy for president, this person said.

“Choose peace and vote for Jill Stein,” the ad reads. “Trust me. It’s not a wasted vote. … The only way to take our country back is to stop voting for the corporations and banks that own us. #GrowaSpineVoteJillStein.”

The ads show a complicated effort that didn’t necessarily hew to promoting Trump and bashing Clinton. Instead, they show a desire to create divisions while sometimes praising Trump, Sanders and Stein. A number of the ads seemed to question Clinton’s authenticity and tout some of the liberal criticisms of her candidacy.

There is no indication Stein, Sanders or Trump was aware of the advertisements, which were described to POLITICO by people with knowledge of them.

Facebook declined to comment on the specifics of the advertisements but noted a previous statement: “The vast majority of ads run by these accounts didn’t specifically reference the U.S. presidential election or voting for a particular candidate. Rather, the ads and accounts appeared to focus on amplifying divisive social and political messages across the ideological spectrum — touching on topics from LGBT matters to race issues to immigration to gun rights.”

And Bernieville fell for it. Nice going.

You are being manipulated.

Progressive Challenger Wants Birmingham To Be ‘Frontline Resistance To Trump Policies’
Randall Woodfin is hoping to unseat the Alabama city’s two-term mayor.

By Daniel Marans

Image

Randall Woodfin, a 36-year-old school board member and city prosecutor, landed on the national progressive radar when he picked up the influential endorsement of Our Revolution ― the political organization created to carry on the legacy of Bernie Sanders’ 2016 presidential campaign ― for his bid to govern the Southern city of 212,000

A belated congratulations is in order to Mr Woodfin, Senator Sanders and Our Revolution.

A Bernie Sanders-backed candidate just got elected mayor in the deep south

Analysis by Chris Cillizza, CNN Editor-at-large

Updated 5:18 PM ET, Wed October 4, 2017

(CNN)On Tuesday night, Randall Woodfin scored an upset of the two-term Democratic mayor of Birmingham, Alabama, to become the youngest mayor (he's 36) in the Magic City in more than 100 years. Woodfin's campaign became something of a cause celebre among national liberal activists aligned with Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders. Nina Turner, the head of Our Revolution, the organization Sanders formed post-2016, was an active presence for Woodfin in the race. Sanders recorded a robo-call that went out Monday saying that Woodfin would fight for racial justice, sanctuary city status for Birmingham and his own "Medicare for All" plan, and sent out a tweet urging people to go to the polls and one congratulating Woodfin on his victory.

The Women's March Invited Bernie Sanders. Then the Trouble Started

When the Women's Convention announced that Bernie Sanders would speak on the opening night of its national conference in Detroit later this month, the response on social media was swift and brutal.

NBC: Shake-up Inside DNC Ousts Officials Loyal to Sanders

Quote:
NBC is reporting a shake-up inside the Democratic National Committee has ousted some longtime officials over their opposition to DNC Chair Tom Perez. The shake-up is part of an ongoing struggle between the insurgent progressive wing of the DNC, fueled by Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, and the DNC’s more centrist wing, which Perez represents. Among those ousted was James Zogby, head of the Arab American Institute and prominent Sanders supporter, and Barbra Casbar Siperstein, the first transgender member of the DNC.

All I can say is, for those who are ousted from the DNC, play a role to form a progressive party that supports your views and beliefs.

Bernie Sanders bows out of Women's Convention in Detroit to survey Puerto Rico

Quote:
........“I want to apologize to the organizers of the Women's Convention for not being able to attend your conference next Friday,” Sanders said in a statement. “Given the emergency situation in Puerto Rico, I will be traveling there to visit with San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulin Cruz and other officials to determine the best way forward to deal with the devastation the island is experiencing.”

Instead, U.S. Sen. Debbie Stabenow, D-Mich., will give an opening speech at the convention, which is the first national Women’s Convention in 40 years. U.S. Rep. Maxine Waters, D-California, also will speak at the event.

The gathering, scheduled for Oct. 27-29 at Cobo Center, is expected to attract more than 3,000 people and aims to take on social injustice and uphold the feminist nonviolent resistance principles of the Women’s March, which is organizing the event.......

and you know Bernie speaks out for the low wage workers the majority of which are women.

There is no *over there* in American politics. There is only the Democratic and Republican parties.

The characterization as "insurgent" is entirely from Democracy Now. That is not what is happening here. What is happening here is that the presently more powerful centrist (i.e. conservative) faction of the Democratic party is not willing to accept so many "socialists" in their midst (i.e. not far from half of the Democratic party). Hence, the effort to push them out.

This is a time of forming coalitions in American politics and clearly the controlling faction of the Democratic party has not learned much from the 2016 election results.

Sanders Doesn’t Have to Join Democrats

Las Vegas — The Democratic National Committee on Friday rejected a resolution that would have urged independents like Sen. Bernie Sanders, of Vermont, to “register or affiliate with the Democratic Party” next year, one of several small victories for the party’s left wing.

Highly commendable for the [still] hard working Senator.

Well, you're right about that. So I stand corrected. The folks intent on trying to impose their absurd coup on the Dem Party should listen to you.

Sure, and Bernieville, which has an established track record in not knowing JF of how to win elections, is here to teach us dumb 95%-ers minus Nina Turner the lesson :problem:

How many days, weeks, months, years, decades, have we had to endure this pointless lecture from them. No, it is they who are in need of a lesson. "Socialism" or stated affiliation with so-called socialism is not the problem, or the issue. The Dem party does not have time for purity politics from the same people who accuse them of identity politics.

Bernieville ought to take a good hard look at their own identity politics, which ensures them loss after loss after loss in a Dem/Repub two-party system, before trying to instruct others.

What I usually find is that I can deflect the lectures with humor.

If that doesn't work, then I smack 'em upside the head.

Kinda scary how well you can read me.

Though, think they missed a golden opportunity to promote this rhythm. Wonder if it would have been worthwhile to look toward tap or flamenco dancers to help out with this one.

Thanks, Sam, but I still feel inclined to stick with promoting left populist ideals over right populism in America, any day of the week.
