Michelle Wolf got it just right

Quote:
“Thank you!”

That’s how comedian Michelle Wolf answered Sean Spicer’s declaration that her headlining stand-up set at the the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner was “a disgrace.” Her response is instructive: To Wolf, an insult from Spicer is an accolade – and accolades, surely, would be an insult. She’s right.

Wolf managed Saturday night to scandalize the majority of Washington’s tuxedo-clad intelligentsia with a barrage of bon mots that, in the eyes of much of the press and political establishment, weren’t really so bon at all. The speech, these pundits have argued, wasn’t amusing; it was lewd, and worse than that, it was mean.

Wolf faced particular criticism for (besides all that sex stuff) her satire of Sarah Huckabee Sanders, who apparently was a profile in courage for sitting still with pursed lips while someone told jokes about her — “to her face!” These commentators spun the strange narrative that Wolf went after Sanders for her appearance, when in reality Wolf’s barbs centered on the press secretary’s falsehood-filled performance on the White House podium.............

I heard about him. Sounds like he's a Republican who wanted to win local elections in a Democratic leaning area. More than this about Trump, he opposes abortion, is for capital punishment, is anti immigration.

There is a preacher running on the Sanders bandwagon. I feel preachers and politics don't mix and I never support them when they try to run for office. It's one of my hard and fast rules, no clergy.

There's Susan Wild, she sounds OK. https://ballotpedia.org/Susan_Wild

There are also three more Democrats running too, but they haven't raised enough cash to be taken seriously.

The primary is Tuesday.

Trump’s VA Strips Protection From Workers’ Contract

The Department of Veterans Affairs this week unilaterally scrapped an Obama-era provision in their labor contract, stripping many of doctors and nurses of the right to have a union representative advocate for them at a hearing at which they are being disciplined or fired.

The effect, a union representing federal workers says, will be to make it easier to fire government employees.

Trump proposes ending rule allowing foreign founders into U.S.

The Department of Homeland Security has officially proposed cancelling the International Entrepreneur Rule, which allows foreign entrepreneurs to legally stay in the U.S. to build their companies, provided they meet a host of business requirements.

The big picture: This decision was long expected, but many in the tech community see it as another hurdle in attracting the best talent to the U.S. "This decision to get rid of the International Entrepreneur Rule sends a chilling message to entrepreneurs and investors around the world that America doesn’t need or want them," TechNet President and CEO Linda Moore said in a statement.

#RealNews on Trump et L'Affaire Russe: A Resource Page

Last updated: April 12, 2018

This resource page compiles information on President Donald Trump and associates’ alleged ties to Russia.

Developments are loosely divided into story arcs for readability but are otherwise organized by chronology. Efforts have been made to provide available primary source materials and the most definitive secondary source accounts. Dates for secondary source materials are noted in brackets wherever they differ from the dates of the events reported.

Apparent gaps in timeline under particular story arcs may be addressed under other arcs. Materials have been organized and annotated and naming conventions are consistent throughout to facilitate simple Ctrl+F searches.

The largest federal employee union sues Trump administration over time restrictions on union activity

The American Federation of Government Employees on Thursday took the Trump administration to court to block a new executive order that severely restricts the time employees can spend on union activity, claiming it violates the First Amendment guarantee of the right to freedom of association and oversteps the president’s constitutional authority.

The restriction on what is known as “official time” — which will ultimately have to be bargained through collective bargaining contracts at federal agencies — was one of three orders the president signed late Friday before the Memorial Day weekend to roll back long-held civil service protections for federal employees.

Trump Inauguration Charges Dismissed Because Prosecutors Withheld Evidence

WASHINGTON — A D.C. judge on Thursday dismissed felony charges against 10 individuals arrested while protesting President Donald Trump’s inauguration, finding that the government violated the due process rights of defendants by failing to turn over evidence it obtained from a right-wing media organization. Three of the defendants still face misdemeanor charges.

D.C. Superior Court Chief Judge Robert Morin found that prosecutors with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia, which is part of the Justice Department, had committed Brady violations by withholding undercover videos that James O’Keefe’s Project Veritas had turned over to the government.

Federal Judge Sides With Philly Over Sanctuary City Policy

In a decision that made Mayor Jim Kenney break out into song and dance, a federal judge ruled that the Trump administration cannot cut off grants to Philadelphia over how the city deals with undocumented immigrants.

U.S. District Judge Michael Baylson issued a 93-page memo Wednesday saying the conditions placed on Philadelphia by the federal government in order to receive the funding are unconstitutional, "arbitrary and capricious." He also wrote that Philadelphia's policies are reasonable and appropriate.

Trumpism Scores No Wins in South Dakota Primary

Believe it or not, hard-rural-red South Dakota's June 5 primary was a bad day for Trumpists:

1. Neal Tapio lost. Tapio, the worst and loudest Trumpist in South Dakota, placed third in the three-way GOP primary for South Dakota’s lone House seat. The whinging Trump karaoke singer still got far more votes than he deserved, and he actually won two small counties, Tripp and Oglala Lakota, whose Republicans have brought shame and humiliation upon their communities.

New York attorney general sues Trump Foundation

NEW YORK (AP) — President Donald Trump's foundation served as a personal piggy bank for his businesses, legal bills and presidential campaign, New York's attorney general said Wednesday as she sued the charity, Trump and three of his children.

The Donald J. Trump Foundation "was little more than a checkbook for payments from Mr. Trump or his businesses to nonprofits, regardless of their purpose or legality," Democratic AG Barbara Underwood said as she sued to dissolve the foundation and seek $2.8 million in restitution.
