Even for one of his frothing-at-the-mouth Trumpublican fan boys, "Humanitarian" doesn't make any sense at all; I mean, it's not like he cares about two children dying because of his idiotic border politics.

"Humanitarian" is from the 1843 class of words. Adjoining it to the left is "homophone," and to the right is "humic acid." It was the word class which joined "non" to a raft of already existing words.

So "nonhumanitarian" is an 1843 word too.

:)

As is "ultraconservative."

"Worcestershire sauce," "awhirl," "conte," "encephalitis," it was quite a year. "Dinnerware," "dislikable," "ditchdigger,"and an "electrical storm."

A "farmhand" and a "cattle guard."

"Hanukkah" and "Sukkoth."

:|

"Norn": any of the three Norse goddesses of fate.

He's been awfully quite on Twitter since his tweet about addressing the nation.

Two tweets prior to that tweet he said:

"Congressman Adam Smith, the new Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, just stated, “Yes, there is a provision in law that says a president can declare an emergency. It’s been done a number of times.” No doubt, but let’s get our deal done in Congress!"

Which is an indication that he's not going to declare a state of emergency.

I have a feeling he's going to fold, while trying to make it seem like he won.

Billionaire committing $40 million to impeach Pres. Trump

DES MOINES, Iowa -- A California billionaire is committing an additional $40 million to a nationwide effort to impeach President Donald Trump, he announced Wednesday.

Tom Steyer, who at one time was thought to be eyeing a White House bid himself, says he will not be running for president in 2020.

Trump Hits the Wall
And what's all that sniffling about?
By Gail Collins

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/01/09/opin ... peech.html

Quote:
For every viewer whose response to the talk was “Wow, we should do something about immigration!” there must have been a hundred whose first reaction was “Why does this man keep sniffing?” Deviated septum? Nasal polyps? Trump’s breathing has actually sounded strange for a long time, but most of us have chosen to ignore it rather than engage in a national conversation about the president’s nose.

If you watched the address — and really, you could have, it was only about as long as it takes to microwave popcorn — you saw a 72-year-old guy squinting at the teleprompter and making rather alarming breathing sounds while reading a speech about how we need a wall to protect women who are “sexually assaulted on the dangerous trek up through Mexico.”

‘The Atlantic’ Calls for Trump’s Impeachment

The Atlantic, in its cover story: “The Founders worried about electing a president who lacked character or a sense of honor, but Americans have long since lost the moral vocabulary to articulate such concerns explicitly, preferring to look instead for demonstrable violations of rules that illuminate underlying character flaws. It is Trump’s unfitness for office that necessitates impeachment; his attacks on American democracy are plainly evident, and should be sufficient.”

“But some Republican senators may continue to dismiss the more sweeping claims against the president, particularly where no statutory crimes attach. And so the strength of the evidence supporting narrower charges such as obstruction of justice and campaign-finance violations may ultimately determine his fate. If the committee can substantiate these charges, it will place even the most reluctant senators in a bind. When the moment finally comes to cast their vote, and the world is watching, how many will acquit the president of things he has clearly done?”

Viral videos appear to show Kentucky high schoolers mocking Native American marchers

WASHINGTON — Videos of Kentucky high school students standing in front of Native American marchers and seemingly mocking one Native American drummer during the Indigenous Peoples March in Washington yesterday have gone viral.

Multiple videos posted on social media show Covington Catholic students standing in front of a group of marchers, yelling and jumping as marchers begin to play music. One person in a "Make America Great Again" hat stands within inches of the face of a marcher who is drumming, staring and smiling at him for the entirety of the video.

Nancy Pelosi refused to allow White House officials access to the House floor for a State of the Union walkthrough

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump is still trying to deliver his annual State of the Union address before a joint session of Congress on January 29, despite barriers put in place by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who now controls the House chamber.

Under Pelosi's directive, a scheduled walkthrough last week for White House officials in preparation for the State of the Union was canceled.

US banker with ties to Putin’s inner circle sought access to Trump transition: Sources

Nine days after Donald Trump won the presidency, as scores of supporters clamored for meetings with his transition team, the Hollywood producer of “The Apprentice,” Mark Burnett, reached out to one of Trump’s closest advisers to see if he would sit down with a banker who has long held ties to Russia.

The banker, Robert Foresman, never got the role he was seeking with the fledgling Trump administration. But he has recently attracted the attention of congressional investigators as one more name on an expanding list of Americans with established ties inside the Kremlin who appears to have been seeking access to the newly elected president’s inner circle, according to three sources familiar with the matter.

Probably not arrest him, but she can deny him access.

I know we're a year away from the Elections & i understand about not trusting the polls but by the looks at this Trump is done the midterms & the shutdown are already proving that.

Poll: Trump would lose to a bunch of Dems

A new Public Policy Polling poll indicates Donald Trump would likely lose to any of the top Democratic candidates in his bid for reelection.

One friend is a rabid Donald Trump supporter who believes the border wall should be built 100 feet high and topped with barbed wire and sharpshooters from Texas to Tijuana.

Trump Meets With Hard-Right Group Led by Ginni Thomas

WASHINGTON — President Trump met last week with a delegation of hard-right activists led by Ginni Thomas, the wife of Justice Clarence Thomas, listening quietly as members of the group denounced transgender people and women serving in the military, according to three people with direct knowledge of the events.

For 60 minutes Mr. Trump sat, saying little but appearing taken aback, the three people said, as the group also accused White House aides of blocking Trump supporters from getting jobs in the administration.

Trump to deliver State of the Union on Feb. 5

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) in a letter Monday said President Trump could give his annual State of the Union address in the House chamber on Feb. 5, shortly after lawmakers and the White House reached an agreement to end the partial government shutdown.

"When I wrote to you on January 23rd, I stated that we should work together to find a mutually agreeable date when government has reopened to schedule this year's State of the Union address," Pelosi wrote in the letter.

Trump agrees to Super Bowl interview with CBS

President Trump has agreed to a sit-down interview with CBS that will be aired before the Super Bowl on Sunday.

The news network announced on Monday that "Face the Nation" moderator Margaret Brennan would interview Trump later this week and that portions of their sit-down would be broadcast during the Super Bowl pre-game telecast.

I just saw John Fugelsang say this on Twitter in regard to a Trump Tweet below, so I thought it needed to be a graphic:

I was just thinking (unusual I know), if Trump suffers from the Dunning-Kruger effect, where people believe they have greater abilities than they actually have, then what malady affects the Trump fans, where people believe their idol has greater abilities than he really has? Dunning-Kruger by Proxy? :)

:) Yeah.

Hannah Arendt may have described them as "atomized, isolated individuals." That's what she said totalitarianism is composed of.

"Totalitarian movements are mass organizations of atomized, isolated individuals."

I'd like to see a pink vanity top perfume atomizer that could make a mist of a mass of those isolated individuals' political ambitions.

Way to go Donald. :problem:

Migrant child separated from family wails and refuses to look at mother in heartbreaking video chat

A 23-year-old Honduran woman who lost custody of her daughter while migrating to the U.S. was told by immigration authorities that she would have to pay thousands of dollars to get her child back.

The New Yorker this week shared the story of Sindy who traveled to the U.S. with her husband and three children from Tegucigalpa, Honduras after their lives were threatened by gangsters. On the way to stay with Sindy’s uncle in San Francisco, she was separated from her husband and Grethshell, her toddler daughter.

Huh. I notice a little bit of selectivity here. Someone's not being lectured about how the Dunning Kruger hypothesis comes from the Huffington Post, or something like that.

I kid, I kid, I don't really give a shit. :rw) Like a lot of what gets published in the Annals of Improbable Research, I never really took it THAT seriously. :D

That Donald Trump is the poster child for it - well, seems painfully obvious, that stable genius.
